Hi Ted, This ambiguous message given by the DITA Open Toolkit is usually received when the toolkit cannot locate a topic reference from a DITA Map (file reference or referenced id value). So there is probably some topic reference problem in the DITA Map. You can try to debug it a little (for example commenting out topic references in the DITA Map until the transformation starts to work) or maybe send us a sample DITA project (on our support@oxygenxml.com address) on which to reproduce the situation and I'll try to give you more details...
