After some trouble (the file is no longer at the same place in sourceforge, but I choose the one from the subdir /fo) I could get the example running and the also one which eliminates the table numbers. I found an older video demonstration about how to create and use a Docbook XSLT customization layer from Oxygen:

Basically you need to duplicate the "Docbook to PDF" transformation scenario and set the "XSLT URL" parameter to point to your XSLT customization.
