-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Adrian, I've been meaning to follow up on this. I happen to have gotten an SSD for my laptop the other day and took the occasion to reinstall Ubuntu, keeping only my home directory. For now, I'm giving Unity a chance to prove itself (it finally seems to be coming along...at least it's usable with dual displays now). Using Java 1.7.0_05 I have installed via JWS and the menus are working find so far. Here are the only quirks I've noticed in the new environment. In the Open File dialog, the Open button is not selected by default (so to drill down to a file, I have to either click the Open button or tab till it has focus and hit Enter). This is slightly annoying, but I can live with it. (Our) JWS does create a desktop icon, but, as with the Mac, I get a generic icon in the Dash and when I alt-tab. Strangely, for a couple of days after I installed it, the Oxygen icon appeared in the alt-tab and dash, but now it's a generic icon. I should also mention that although we upgraded to the newer build that was supposed to have fixed the generic icon problem on the Mac, it still persists. You can inspect our JWS package here: http://docs.rackspace.com/oxygen/ On Linux, I an live with this, but it is quite an annoyance for our Mac users. I still have the old drive and will try to find time to boot off if it to test Java SE Update 33 in Gnome 3. Thanks, David On 06/29/2012 02:42 PM, Adrian Buza wrote:
Hi again David,
Could you please try running Oxygen with Java SE Update 33? We have received one report of this particular JRE version fixing the issues with the menus in Gnome 3.
The discussion is on our forum: http://www.oxygenxml.com/forum/topic6993.html
Please let me know if this new JRE version works any better for you.
Regards, Adrian

We have tested Oxygen with Java SE 6 update 32 in Ubuntu 12 and did not encounter any issues with the menus. What version of Oracle JRE are you currently using with Oxygen?

David,
I can confirm that Oxygen will not work with OpenJDK's javaws (icedtea-netx). Running javaws in verbose mode shows that it hangs when verifying the embedded JNLP signature: "APPLICATION.JNLP has been located within signed JAR. Starting verfication..."
The only solution we've found is to use a Java SE JRE from Oracle/Sun: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
Right, but with the Oracle/Sun JRE the menus don't work. So it appears that Oxygen+JWS isn't supported on Linux.
