Hi Scott, Thanks for joining on this issue and for giving us your use case. If the "scope" and "format" attributes are missing, the DITA 1.2 standard states that they should be implied as "scope='local'" and "format='dita'". So the default in Oxygen will be not to propose values for these attributes in the dialog used for inserting topic references. But I understand your use case and there are users with similar problems so we will consider adding a setting (checkbox) controlling this either in the dialog or in the Oxygen Preferences. I will notify you when this gets implemented. We will probably also add a separate setting for automatically filling in the @type attribute value. Right now, there is a possibility to post process the inserted topic ref and add the missing attributes using our Java API. So if you have an available Java developer I could try to guide you to implement this alternative. I've followed the thread about having the "type" attribute automatically populated by oXygen when a topicref is added - to include the discussions on whether it is the right thing to do from a theory perspective, how to check after the fact, and so on.
My situation: - I have writers that are not full-time writers. They would like "type", "scope", and "format" to be auto-populated when they add a topicref or href. - If we don't add these, our transform process reports it as a warning or error. We are not allowed any warnings or errors in the transform log. - We have no control over the transform process. We have to use the tool as-is.
Which leads me back to the original question: Can we set up oXygen such that when a topicref or href is added, we can get these attributes to auto-populate? If not now, is it a feature request? I half-expected it to be under Preferences >> Content Completion.
