In October I submitted a feature request of a new editor tab contextual menu item named "Re-open with". The contents would be the same as the project view contextual menu "Open with...", which includes the SVG Viewer. This would address your need and one I had as well, that of wanting to re-open an opened ".ent" file to be an instance file instead of the assumed parameter entity file. Hopefully they will see this as useful. . . . . . . . . .
