Hello, The initial editing mode (Text, Author, Grid, Design) is controlled by the option "Initial Page" of the document type: http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-oxygen/topics/dg-author-settings.html and by the options from Preferences -> Editor -> Pages. If the option "Allow Document Type specific page setting to override the general page settings" is enabled the option from the document type will override the Editor -> Pages setting (if the edited document matches a document type from the list in Preferences -> Document Type Association). Also, I recall being able to enter "Author" mode on simple XML files (like Docbook). Is there no Tree and Authoring without running XQuery or XSLT ?
