Using 16.0 in Author mode with DITA, having created a key definition bound to an image, there doesn't appear to be a tool bar or menu item to insert an image reference to a key. I would expect either a separate Toolbar button analogous to the conref/conkeyref buttons or a single Insert Image dialog that offers both a URI and key selector when there are keys bound to non-DITA resources (or resources with known image types) in the current key-providing map. I'm trying to use the practice of having keys for all referenced resources, including images. Cheers, E. ————— Eliot Kimber, Owner Contrext, LLC http://contrext.com

Hi Eliot, Actually on the toolbar there is a Link drop-down button which has a "Key Reference" action. This action can insert any kind of DITA element with a @keyref attribute including image keyref. Maybe we should move this action from the link drop-down on the top-level toolbar because it does more than add a link (it can add an image keyref or a ph with a keyref to some metadata). What do you think of this? Regards, Radu Radu Coravu <oXygen/> XML Editor, Schema Editor and XSLT Editor/Debugger http://www.oxygenxml.com On 8/9/2014 6:06 PM, Eliot Kimber wrote:

When I'm performing the action, the task in my mind is "insert a graphic" not "create a key reference", so going to the keyref icon isn't my first instinct. The more I think about it, the more I think having a keyref option on the base Insert Graphic dialog would be best: that way I don't have to think about it at all. Of course, to be really complete, I should have the option of declaring a new key at the time I reference a graphic for the first time, but that may be beyond what is reasonable in these generic actions. Hi Eliot, Thanks for the details. This will probably be the way to go when we get to implement this. I also had an alternate idea which may be quite silly, if the user shows the current Insert Image dialog and chooses an image URL reference like he does now, if we find out that the image URL is mapped in the root DITA Map scope to a key we could instead an image keyref instead of an image href. But this functionality might be quite hard to understand and use.
