I am trying to connect to an instance of SqlServer 2008 R2 on my local system. They connection fails with: names instance XXXXXXXXX has failed. Error: java.netSocketTimeoutException...... In researching this, I am discovering that I might need to get Sql Browser service to run (which is proving to be difficult). Is this a necessary step? Is it this difficult? I'm attempting to generate a schema from an existing database structure. Karl..

I got it. The service was disabled and "start"ing the service was not an option (since it was disabled) so enabling the service allowed me to start the service. Karl.. On Sat, Mar 5, 2011 at 5:03 PM, Karl Stubsjoen <kstubs@gmail.com> wrote:
