      Thanks for the advice. Setting max_bpp=24 solved the issue. Originally the color depth was set to 32. According to the manual for the xrdp.ini setting xserverbpp=24 does the same for X11rdp and Xvnc backends. Maybe it's worth adding a paragraph to the users manual?

Dear list,

I'm trying to install oxygen 19.1 on a VirtualMachine running centOS 7 with GNOME via X11 and OpenJDK 1.8.0.
I'm running the install-script with su-privileges, but after drawing the first window (for the language selection), there are no buttons or text.
The functionality is there - I can open the drop-down menu - but no text or buttons.

I tried using the "unattended installation" as well as unpacking the tarball, both open a window but fail to draw it's contents. The flash screen also appears only as a grey rectangle.

The VM sits behind a firewall which blocks ftp-protocols and cannot be altered, because we don't administer it - this has led to problems in the past, therefore it's worth mentioning.

I tried Google, but came up empty handed. I'm hoping someone here ran into similar problems and has found a solution.

We have not tested Oxygen or the installer on CentOS 7, but the problem you are experiencing (empty windows) seems to be between Java and the
X11 graphical system.
Please check the version of Java being used, "java --version"
I found an article about a similar problem with Intellij (also a Java
app) on CentOS:

If you are working remotely (e.g. via XRDP), check if the framebuffer is configured to use 24-bit of color.
Someone mentioned there that he resolved the problem in CentOS 7.6 by editing /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini and changing max_bpp=24.

If the problem persists, consider installing v21.1, OpenJDK distribution, "*Linux 64-bit (Includes OpenJDK 12.0.1)*"?

I had a similar issue on Redhat Enterprise 7 accessed via RDP from Windows.

I found I had to add this line:

xserverbpp=24

To the Xvnc and Xorg entries in xrdp.ini (/etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini)
