Feature Request for Content Completion with East Asian Text
Hi there, We are using oXygen mainly to edit Chinese or Japanese text. In this case, words are not separated by whitespace. For a project we are having here, I am setting up snippets that should be inserted using code completion. However, Code Completion fires only after a whitespace character, so we have to input a spurious whitespace character to kick this off, which then has to be deleted again at some point. Hence my feature request: When doing a Code Completion, look at the character before the insertion point and fire if either there is a whitespace, or a character in the Unicode ranges for East Asian characters. This should be fairly easy to implement and have no negative impact on the current functionality. Hello, Do you mean you define a code template in Options -> Preferences -> Editor -> Templates -> Code Templates which you want to insert in the document using the code completion popup window? I am sorry, the code completion is not displayed regardless of the preceding characters. You need to have a space character and a prefix of the name of the code template already inserted in the document or at least a space character at the position of the cursor. We already have an issue logged in our system for displaying the code completion popup containing only code templates if there are no XML element names appropriate for the current context. Dear Sorin, below is a message you wrote on 2008-06-06. I was hoping that this would make it into the new version of Oxygen, but I just checked to see that it seems to be not yet available. Could you give me an estimate to when this will be available? This problem is a bit annoying to my users, since in East Asian text, not even East Asian interpunction characters, including the fullwidth space character (U+3000) allow the triggering of code completion, so sometimes it is not clear to them, why it does not work. Dear Sorin, Thank you for your answer. However, since Chinese and Japanese is usually written without space, it would be even better if you could either allow the triggering anywhere, or if that is not possible, than at least on all CJK characters. Hello Christian, The separator characters play an essential role in the auto completion mechanism as it works now in Oxygen. The editor detects the prefix of an XML tag name, an XML attribute name or a code template name by going backwards from the cursor position to a separator character. Please give some examples of sequences of characters and what you mean by triggering the auto completion anywhere for these sequences. How many characters should the prefix detection go backwards? Hi all, I have an XSL that calls an XML document using the 'document' function. The document that I call has an incorrect 'schemaLocation' statement in it. This makes the XML document invalid. The document itself is well formed and does validate if one changes the schemaLocation to point to a real location of the included XSDs. I am trying to get the custodians of this XML document to change the schemaLocation to fix this problem. Meanwhile, I would like to be able to call this document using the 'document' function without validating it. Can this be done in XSLT 2.0 or Oxygen? If so what parameter settings do I make in my XSL or Oxygen. An example of the XSL is below. Thanks.
