Problem switching from trial key to commercial key in diff files program

Hi all, approximately a month ago I installed oXygen 7.2 and acquired a trial license. When the trial period neared its end a counter indicating the days left began to show up at start up. I purchased a professional license and pasted the key at the appropriate place. Everything went fine. The counter ceased to show. Only when starting the (definitely second to nothing) diff files program standalone the counter would still appear indicating the days left on the trial license. I looked for a way to tell the diff files program about my newly acquired license key, but there seemed to be no way to do that. A reinstall didn't help either as the uninstall procedure does not seem to purge license keys. I decided to wait what would happen when the trial license would finally expire which happened today. The diff files program told me that the trial period was over and gave me the opportunity to paste my key. So in the end everything turned to good account but I don't think that's the way it should work. I thought I'd let you know so other users can be spared the experience. And if anyone knows advice on how to reliably purge a (trial) license key without formatting the hard disk I'd gratefully take it. Best regards. Paul

Hello Paul, The applications included in the oXygen 7.2 distribution are using separate options files so they are "independent" regarding the license key. If you enter the trial license key in oXygen and then start the Subversion Client for the first time then the license is copied in the Subversion Client options. This happens only once. When you update the license in Oxygen, it is not propagated to the other applications. This was fixed in the oXygen version 8.0 (currently under development) by keeping a single license file for all the applications. A workaround for the version 7.2 is to erase all the files that are stored in the directory : Mac OS X: {user home}/Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml Unix: {user home}/.com.oxygenxml Windows: C:\Documents and Settings/{user name}/Application Data/com.oxygenxml Start oXygen, enter the license key again and then start all the other applications. Hello Dan,
This was fixed in the oXygen version 8.0 (currently under development)
by keeping a single license file for all the applications.
Good to hear that.
A workaround for the version 7.2 is to erase all the files that are stored in the directory :
Mac OS X: {user home}/Library/Preferences/com.oxygenxml Unix: {user home}/.com.oxygenxml Windows: C:\Documents and Settings/{user name}/Application Data/com.oxygenxml
That's just the kind of simple solution that I was searching for. After all I should have taken a look in my home directory before posting. Thanks for your quick reply. Best regards. Paul

Will 8.0 share a license between the standalone application and Eclipse plugin?

Hello, Yes, starting with version 8.0 the license key will be stored in a separate file which will be shared by the standalone applications (XML Editor, Diff Files, Diff Directories, SVN Client, etc.) and the Eclipse plugin. Best regards, Sorin Daniel E. Renfer wrote:

In this also the release where all configuration files will be stored in the user's configuration directory instead of in the program's installation directory? Do you have any tips for making the editor run faster and/or use less memory? On 11/9/06, Sorin Ristache <sorin@oxygenxml.com> wrote:

Hello Chris, In previous versions of <oXygen/> (7.x, 6.x, etc) the configuration files were stored in the user config directory too. What changes starting with version 8.0 is the separation of the license key from the other user settings. There is a tip for a faster startup: disable the preference "Open last edited files from project" available in Options -> Preferences -> Global. Can you give some details about the context when <oXygen/> runs slowly ? What actions are you trying to execute, how much does it take to execute them ? Regards, Sorin Chris Chiasson wrote:
