Hello everyone, Today, we are proud to announce the immediate availability of*version 24* of the industry-leading XML suite of products, *Oxygen XML Editor, Author, Developer, Web Author, Publishing Engine, WebHelp, PDF Chemistry, *and *Oxygen XML Scripting.* This new release brings enhancements to the validation support with the DITA validate and check for completeness action being available as a validation unit that can be added to validation scenarios, dynamic publishing for DITA by converting various types of non-DITA resources to DITA, including MS Word, MS Excel, HTML, and Markdown, furthermore, the Enterprise Edition users may now upload and publish DITA to the Zendesk Help Center. The DITA to WebHelp transformation features improved navigation and the PDF Chemistry engine allows controlling the generated PDF security permissions and metadata. The JSON support is improved constantly to match the support Oxygen offers for XML and version 24 brings a visual diagram editor for JSON helpful for increasing productivity when working with simple JSON Schemas and for visualizing, understanding, and editing complex JSON Schemas. With a focus on authoring experience and collaboration, the Oxygen XML Web Author now boasts a re-designed interface, a new visual merge tool that enables you to easily resolve conflicts, and the ever popular Concurrent Editing feature has progressed through the BETA testing stages and now comes bundled with Web Author. More functionality is exposed as part of Oxygen Scripting to enable automation/continuous integration and delivery workflows, including generating diff reports, as well as formatting and indenting XML documents. ============================================================================= *Version 24 *of*Oxygen XML Editor*, the XML community's most advanced bundle of tools, introduces lots of exciting new features, updates, productivity enhancements, new customization options, and various performance optimizations. As the Oxygen team perpetually strives to make the DITA authoring experience more and more efficient and dynamic, DITA users can now configure and run validation scenarios directly from the DITA Maps Manager, or configure validation scenarios that process validation and completeness checks for DITA maps or DITA Open Toolkit projects. With the introduction of new refactoring actions for DITA, it is easier than ever to convert between DITA bookmaps and normal maps, to change or remove profiling attribute values, and to convert direct links to indirect key-based references. To help you get started with your own customizations, a new sample DITA project is available with examples for various framework customizations and best-practices techniques. We also continued to update Oxygen to support the latest DITA 2.0 standard. On the DITA publishing side, a new transformation scenario (available in the Oxygen Enterprise edition) can be used to upload and publish content to the Zendesk Help Center. Also, it is now possible to dynamically convert various types of non-DITA resources (MS Word, MS Excel, HTML, and Markdown) to DITA during the publishing process. For PDF publishing, the output can be generated in compliance with the PDF/Universal Accessibility standard, copyright information is now automatically processed, and you can restrict the permissions for people using your PDF files, for instance to prevent printing or copying of the PDF content, or even to control the access to the PDF document by requiring a password. Oxygen's expanding JSON community will be pleased to learn that a visual diagram editor was integrated in a new specialized editor for JSON Schema documents. It offers validation support, content completion, an outline view, and JSON-specific syntax highlighting. The JSON Schema editor's new intuitive, expressive visual schema design mode provides a simple diagram editor that is helpful for visualizing and understanding both simple and complex JSON Schemas. It also offers various editing features to help you modify JSON Schemas directly within the visual design mode. Some of the general editing productivity improvements include a new Block Tags without Element Names display mode that shows block element tags in a more compact look, the ability to save remote images locally while choosing to update any existing references, and a new XML refactoring operation that can be used to batch accept tracked changes or remove comments and highlights. When using the Compare Files or Compare Directories command-line scripts (or the similar comparison tools within Oxygen), you now have the ability to save the results of a comparison as an HTML report file that can be viewed in your browser or other application. A new tool was also added in Oxygen for generating an HTML report that contains the results of a directory comparison (for either 2-way or 3-way comparisons). Add-ons continue to gain popularity and this latest release gives you the possibility to extend Oxygen's functionality even further by introducing numerous updates and improvements to the Git Client, DITA Prolog Updater, and Batch Converter add-ons. A new entry to the Oxygen add-ons library comes in the form of the Writer Helper. It is designed to help technical writers by offering them tips, finding possible similar content that could be reused, and even has an option for reading content out loud using the operating system's narrator. Some of the other exciting highlights for this version include startup speed performance improvements, some new ways to use editor variables, various API additions, bug fixes, component updates, and much more. [ANN] Version 3.0.0 of the Oxygen Git Client add-on has been released!

Hi everyone, We are excited to announce the release of the Oxygen Git Client add-on version 3.0.0! Our developing team spent great efforts to further expand the add-on's functionality with the addition of these following improvements: 1. You can save the uncommitted changes into stashes, reapply or delete the stashed changes. 2. You can create new tags from the Git History contextual menu. In the Git Staging toolbar, there is an action to list all the tags. Tags from the local repository can be deleted or pushed to the remote repository. 3. Added a Merge "SELECTED_BRANCH" into "CURRENT_BRANCH" action in the contextual menu for local branches in Git Branch Manager. 4. When showing the history for a directory in the affected files section, the files that are descendants of the directory are presented on top and the files that are outside it are grayed out. 5. Added a Revert commit action in the contextual menu for commits from the Git History view. It creates a new commit that reverts all the changes from the selected commit. 6. Added a Reset file to this commit action to the contextual menu for resources associated to a revision in the Git History view. It checks out the selected version of the file. 7. Added an Open working copy version action to the contextual menu for resources associated to a revision in the Git History view. 8. A warning message is now displayed when trying to use the Mark as resolved action on a file that contains conflict markers. 9. A message prompt is now displayed if you try to switch the branch while there are uncommitted changes so that you can confirm that you want to stash the changes or move the changes to the new branch. 10. A new editor variable is now supported: ${git(working_copy_url)}. It is resolved to the URL of the current working copy directory. 11. When hovering the cursor over the Pull and Push buttons, the displayed tooltip now shows information about some of the incoming/outgoing commits (such as the date, author and message). 12. When hovering the cursor over a branch name, a tooltip is displayed that provides information about the last commit performed on that branch (such as the author and the date of the commit). 13. An information message that is shown when starting Oxygen while being on a detached HEAD now presents more information about the checked-out commit (ID, author, date, message). 14. The add-on's minimum compatible Oxygen version was increased to version 22.1. 15. The highlight boxes that surround branches and tags are now styled differently so that it is easier to identify which represents a branch and which represents is a tag. 16. The settings in the Git client preferences page can be saved at project level. The project can then be shared with other users and everyone will have the same Git client settings. 17. Fixed an issue that caused the commit details to be incorrectly displayed when a filter text was active in the History view. Major issue with this app and multi stand-alone windows

I have been struggling with this for years. When you drag any document into a new window, dialogs and menu options are no longer available. For example, if I drag an Xml document from the main Oxygen window into a new standalone window and then try to use the menu option: DOCUMENT | SCHEMA | GENERATE/CONVERT SCHEMA; is not available. Also, things like the Outline view, the Quick Search, Transformation Scenarios, etc.. all of a sudden are not available for any document that is hosted in a standalone window. It becomes very difficult (to impossible) to use the app when you spread windows across your desktops. Is this a known issue and can this be fixed? I'm a Windows user. Karl Stubsjoen (602) 845-0006

[ANN] Oxygen Translator Helper add-on version 1.1.0 has been released!

Hi everyone, We are excited to let you know that we updated the free Oxygen Translator Helper add-on to version 1.1.0! Starting with this version, the Translator Helper is now enhanced to provide support for translating content to various languages using "DeepL Translator”. To install it you can use the Oxygen main menu "Help->Install new add-ons", choose the default Oxygen add-on update site and you will find an add-on named "Translator Helper" in the list. To update the existing add-on you can use the Oxygen main menu Help->"Check for add-ons updates" action. Just to recap, the add-on has two main features: 1. You can translate content using "Google Translate" or "DeepL" to various languages: * Select the content to translate in the Author visual editing mode. You can also select the entire document contents but the translator might have limitations for the total amount they can translate. * Right click. Select "Translate->Google Translate" or "Translate->DeepL Translator" and choose the target language. * Copy the translated content from the opened web page. * Click Replace in the Oxygen Translate using Google Translate dialog that showed up. The original content should now be replaced with the translated content, the original element structure and attributes should remain unchanged. * In addition you can choose to show the original document content in the Translator Helper side view. This will allow you to correct the translation further by looking at the original text and the translated text side by side. 2. You can see the original content side by side with the content that you are translating, so you can translate correctly and easy by right clicking in the Author visual editing mode and invoking the Show current content in side view action. cant run spell check on my raspberry

I have been having fun running oXygen (v 23.1) on my little Raspberry 400. It takes a while to load from the USB stick, but runs smoothly (despite dire warnings at startup). However, I have hit a problem trying to use the spell checker, since you (obviously) don't ship a Raspbian binary of hunspell. The popup says "Error: could not load Hunspell. The error message was: Unknown OS/arch: linux/arm" Now, back in 2012, when someone reported the exact same problem here (but with reference to Solaris), they were advised to set the "spell checking engine" to "Java spell checker", which looked promising. However, that option is no longer available so far as I can tell, certainly not where Adrian said it was! Any suggestions?

Why can't Oxygen format and indent a 200MB file in 30 minutes whereas SAXON can do it in 15 seconds?

Hi Folks, I have (by today's standards) a medium sized XML file that is 200MB in size. It is unformatted (no indentation). I opened the file in Oxygen and clicked on the format and indent button. After 30 minutes of processing Oxygen gave up with an error message. So I wrote a simple 1-line XSLT program (below) to do the indentation, it took about 15 seconds and was done.
