Large XML file

Hi, I am producing a very large (50MB) XML file via a transformation. Once the file has been produced, it passes through a validation process (another transformation) - for business rules compliance of the original data - as a result of which we occasionally need to examine the xml file in an editor. When I use oXygen to view the file, it takes over 30 minutes to load. The large file viewer is of no use because it does not format the input. Without formatting, the input is just a single long line of unformatted XML. The contents of the oxygen.vmoptions file is: -Xmx1450m -Dcom.oxygenxml.language=English Oxygen is set to format and indent on load. Is there any way that oXygen can be configured to load and display the data more quickly? Cheers Peter

pop-up of datatypes?

This may be a FAQ, in which case I apologize -- I'm in the middle of a class, using oXygen to teach RELAX NG. A student asked an excellent question -- why is there no pop-up list (nor completion) for the values of type= of <data> at attribute insertion time? (He points out it would be *very* useful.) We note that at at validation time, oXygen can tell us that "date" is OK, but "dtae" is not. I'm betting that the schema oXygen is using declares type= as an NCName, but that at validation time oXygen knows to check the datatype library specified on the datatypeLibrary= in force. Any way to get attribute value pop-up for these datatypes?

invert selection

I am off once again teaching an XML class using oXygen. When we do this, we often project an XML document up on the screen and select an area (typically an element with some children) as being that to which we want the students to pay attention. But as soon as we've selected it in order to highlight it, the background becomes distinctive (gray in my case, but can be changed in the preferences), and color syntaxing is lost. I'd like to somehow have the reverse visual effect. I'd like everything else to be gray and dull w/o syntax highlighting, and the selected text to be bright and with syntax highlighting. Of course, I don't want the whole file to be w/o syntax highlighting until I select something. I want the act of selection to make everything else look dull, leaving the selection bright and cheery. One way to achieve this would be to have a "inverse selection" command. I realize that doing so would mean that there would be two discontiguous chunks of selection, and I'm not sure that's easy to do, or a good idea. But *some* way to achieve this marvelous pedagogical goal would be appreciated.

Catalog Resolution for DITA conref

All, I'm trying to get a catalog to resolve a uriSuffix for a conref in a DITA document but am getting an unexpected result. My catalog is setup like the following: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE catalog PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD Entity Resolution XML Catalog V1.1//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/entity/release/1.1/catalog.dtd"> <catalog xmlns="urn:oasis:names:tc:entity:xmlns:xml:catalog"> <uriSuffix uriSuffix="concepts/CopyrightHolder.xml" uri="src/main/documents/concepts/CopyrightHolder.xml"/> </catalog> It is set so that the catalog sits parallel to src. While watching the resolver I'm getting the following message: SystemID: null Description: Public: null System: file:/C:/workspaces/SkyManager2.0Clean/subversion.infotrustgroup.com/docume… = null It concerns me that it is getting null because with other resolver lookups when it doesn't find it, it at least shows an intelligent URI to replace with. Wildcards in validation scenario associations?

Hello! I would like to use wildcards to associate all xsl files in a certain folder to be validated starting form another xsl file. (the files are only used as imported from that certain place) Looking on how the project file works, if I associate it manually and save the project file, I get an added "<String xml:space="preserve">validation.scenario.associations</String>" with the actual file path added. If I simply modify the file path to contain for example "*.xsl" it doesn't automatically associate them, so it seems this solution did not work. executing XPath

I still don't like using the XPath Builder because, as far as I have been able to ascertain (without, of course, reading the manual) there is no way in oXygen to press "Execute" without using the mouse. My operating system (Mac OS X 10.5.5) will permit me to select buttons using TAB, but this is not always reliable, although it seems better lately.

Scenario editor: doc param and meta-stylesheet scenario

Hi I have the following stylesheet parameter in one of my stylesheets (note its type): <xsl:param name="initial" as="document-node()"/> I don't find how I can set its value in the scenario editor. Is it possible or do I have to create a driver stylesheet getting a filename and parsing it to set this parameter? (really, I'd like to avoid that) As a slide question, this stylesheet is actually a generated stylesheet. But I didn't find a way in the scenario editor to support meta-stylesheet (a double transformation that first generates the stylesheet using the meta-stylesheet, then transform a document using this generated stylesheet.) For now I have each time to launch two scenarios one right after the other. But maybe I just didn't find the right way to achieve that? XPath over sets of files

Hi, I know about the Find/Replace in Files option on the context menu in the Project View. Run a string (or regular expression) search through a set of files collected in a folder in your project. Cool. How about an XPath option that would work the same way? Currently I usually write myself a little Schematron to locate particular nodes, which isn't a big deal. But it would be nice not to have to when the search can be expressed simply in a one-line XPath. oXygen Author: Restrict from creating non-valid content?

Hello! Is it possible to restrict the Author view in oxygen from creating non- valid content? Meaning, it would only allow insertion of the elements shown in the drop down list, etc to avoid writers not familiar with the DTD to still provide content without errors? Upgrading Saxon, and custom processor thoughts

Hi The Saxon version used in "XML Editor 9.3, build 2008081313" is still 9.0.0.6. I tried to add the latest 9.1.0.2 but there is no support for parameters for custom processors. Did I miss anything? Here is what I would have thought to be able to do: when asking oXygen to add a processor, beside to be able to give it the command line, it should be possible to say "this processor is of well-known kind 'Saxon B'". Because oXygen already knowns how to support Saxon B, the user only need to give the directory where he put the JARs (and the license for the equivalent support for Saxon SA.) And this mechanism could be used for other kind of processor as well (libxslt, MarkLogic, eXist...) Did I miss something that looks like that? Or at least that allows me either to use parameters with custom processors or to update the Saxon version used? Best regards, --drkm
