Improving usability of bundled FOP

Hi, quality of FOP improved over the past years and in many situations it's viable option to commercial engines like XEP and Antenna House. However oXygen by default provides FOP with its default configuration which is not that useful for real work. I see two main issues: 1) Only standard 14 fonts are supported and these fonts are not containing glyphs used outside Western Europe scripts. With the recent versions of FOP solution is easy. By using configuration file with <auto-detect/> directive inside <fonts> element all locally installed fonts are available to FOP. Users are not forced to register fonts manually and generate metrics as in a past. 2) FOP doesn't contain hyphenation patterns. They can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/offo/files/latest/download?source=dlp (file with patterns is fop-hyph.jar and it's sufficient to put it on a classpath). I think it would be great if future releases of oXygen can contain this additional library with hyphenation patterns and enable fonts by providing custom configuration file out of the box. Oxygen metrics report

Does the Oxygen metrics report only count conref in the reuse section or also conkeyref? Thanks! Linking uicontrol with a collection topic

I have a topic with a collection of uicontrol elements. I generate this topic from a java properties file for software strings using a script I wrote. Is there any way for me to force the writers to conkeyref to this file anytime they add a uicontrol? Or even if Oxygen could push them towards using conkeyref instead of entering text directly, that might be sufficient to remind them of what they need to do. I can't think of a practical way to make this happen (and maybe it's even too rigid to be practical) but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had ideas. Tag Sense for Foreign Markup Within an RNG Schema

For DITA 1.3's new RNG vocabulary support, I've defined an RNG schema for header markup that will be required in all DITA RNG modules and shells. If I set up a validation scenario using this schema then I can validate RNG schemas that use this markup. That is, a scenario that specifies the schema document explicitly. If I put a PI like this: <?xml-model href="urn:oasis:names:tc:dita:rng:vocabularyModuleDesc.rng" schematypens="http://relaxng.org/ns/structure/1.0"?> in one of these documents, then I can set up a validation scenario that uses the "detect schema" option and it also validates. However, what I don't seem to be able to do is get tag sense within the scope of the foreign markup--I only get options for the base RNG vocabulary. Evaluate console output

Hello Oxygen List The console output (transformation log) is overwhelming for many standard users. They won't know what to look for in the log and tend not to check it at all as soon as some kind of output is generated, thereby overlooking potentially grave omissions in the output. Is there a convenient way a) to save the transformation log to disk b) to evaluate it with certain rules? For instance, it would be great if after a PDF transformation we could implement an automated brief check of the log file for occurrences of the string "[ERROR]" or also some pattern for certain warnings. If that string is found in the log file, initiate some action, e.g. renaming the output PDF (e.g. by appending "_errors_in_log" to the file name). Many thanks in advance for any ideas Richard

skip non-xml files when running batch validation

Hi, I’m running a batch validation process on a directory tree that contains a large number of XML files. However the directory also contains other types of files such as .txt and .log files. These files are showing up in the error log as follows: System ID: 9703177.log Main validation file: 9703177.logEngine name: oXygen Severity: warning Description: Cannot check file 9703177.log. Unknown extension. These messages are clogging up my error log. Does anyone know of a way to prevent these messages from appearing in the error log? Thank you, Scott

Should Export DITA Map Rewrite Pointers?

I have a DITA map that is stored in the RSuite CMS, where all the URLs are RSuite REST URLs of the form: <map> ... <topicref href="/rsuite/rest/v2/content/binary/alias/sales-demo-forward-01.dita"/> </map> This URL will resolve relative to the RSuite server URL, meaning that if the URL is resolved relative to the URL of the map opened from an absolute RSuite REST URL that it will always work (RSuite does not provide URLs that are hierarchical like a file system because there is no single or necessary containment relationship among objects in RSuite). Because the URLs just work, I can, for example, open a DITA map using a URL like: http://localhost:8080/rsuite/rest/v2/content/element/alias/sample-pubmap-no- keys.ditamap And Oxygen is happy with it--I can perform all read-only operations against the map, including export DITA map. However, when I tried that, just to see what I would get, I noticed that the structure of the files as packaged reflected the relative paths from the map to the topics, e.g. "element/alias/sales-demo-forward-01.dita" for the map and "binary/alias/sales-demo-forward-01.dita" for the topics. However, the URLs in the result were not rewritten to reflect the directory structure, so the map as exported doesn't work because it still uses the absolute paths. Obviously this is a somewhat artificial case, but it does demonstrate that the map exporter is making an assumption about the data that is not warranted in this case, namely that URLs are relative. My question: - Should the map exporter handle this case and rewrite pointers to reflect the location of the targets in the export location? - Should the exporter detect the use of absolute resource parts and make the output structure reflect those paths? That is, should the exported structure have started with /rsuite rather than "sample-pubmap-no-keys"? Behavior of Open/Find Resource Dialog

I'm finding the open/find resource dialog very handy, but I was surprised that opening it from a selected folder in a project does not limit its search to that folder, which is what I wanted. Is that a reasonable expectation? Also, is there the possibility of regular expression search against filenames? I didn't see an indication of that in the dialog or the online help.
