Improve the schema that gets created with Tools -> Generate/Convert Schema

Hello, I work with a third party application that produces a large number of XML files. The third party does not make a schema for these files available to me. All I can do is use Oxygen to infer a schema by pointing it at a population of these files. I need to read and manipulate the XML files in Kotlin code. I have been using Tools -> Generate/Convert Schema to create a schema, then processing that schema with JAXB as you ordinarily would. The schemas that Oxygen produces are completely reasonable, but there are some things I'd like to change. In one case I have an element named 'de' that occurs twice. The Generate/Convert Schema tool assumes (or seems to) that these elements describe the same kind of data and it merges their definitions. In fact though, the elements represent entirely different kinds of data. There's no overlap of attributes between the 'de' elements in the first place and the 'de' elements in the second place. So Oxygen doesn't mark any of the attributes as required, when in fact, they're all required in their proper context. The schema also uses anonymous complex types for each element and I'd rather it used named types. I can and will have to edit the schema Oxygen creates to take care of a few things, but I'd like to minimize the amount of manual editing I have to do, because I'll have to repeat this process in the future as the third party software version increases and/or I have to deal with new XML files created from different environments that happen to include elements I haven't yet encountered. What affordances are there for customizing the behaviour of the generate schema tool? The dialog box doesn't have much on it. Alternately, are there other tools I could use to post-process the schema in an automated fashion to get it closer to what I want? I see there's a flatten schema feature but it didn't do much other than re-order the attributes. Thanks, -- Danny MacMillan

XProc and paged media: AHFormatter complains about missing XSL Stylesheet

Dear List, with the help from this list (Thanks Tony!) i was able to build a XProc Transformation Scenario, running in Oxygen, which converts DocBook to PDF via XSL-FO and the p:xsl-formatter step. Now i'd like to do the same with CSS (paged media). Using the xslTNG Stylesheets (recent Version 2.1.2) i get an HTML Document. The Antenna House Formatter (version 7.2) reads it without anly problems and produces PDF as expected when called as a standalone app with GUI. It does not work, however, when called as a step within the XProc Pipeline. The essential Part is like this: ``` <p:xslt> <p:input port="stylesheet"> <p:document href="xsltng/docbook-xslTNG-2.1.2/xslt/print.xsl"/> </p:input> <p:input port="parameters"> <p:empty/> </p:input> </p:xslt> <p:xsl-formatter href="tdd.pdf" content-type="application/pdf"/> ``` This throws an exception: jp.co.antenna.XfoJavaCtl.XfoException: No XSL Stylesheet is specified. Two questions arise: - Which XSL Stylesheet is missing? No transformation on the input document is necessary. - How would I specify a stylesheet? Understanding @colsep and @rowsep

Hi all, Can someone shed some light on how the *@colsep* and*@rowsep* attributes are used for CALS tables? The information I found is not clear and detailed enough for me. I understand that these attributes create separator lines for colums and rows. Do I only need these attributes when I do not set *@frame="all"* to create lines for particular rows or columns only? For a normal CALS table with lines for all rows and columns (i.e. like a grid), is enough to set *@frame="all"* or do I additionally need these attributes? The code that Oxygen creates (see below) with these settings (i.e. without these attributes) ... does not have these *@colsep* and*@rowsep* attributes, only *@frame="all"*, and is rendered as desired with my CHM and PDF transformations. I have several tables with *@colsep*/*@rowsep="0" *or*="1"*. These attributes may have been added by FrameMaker when I converted unstructured content to DITA. Can I safely remove all of these attributes when I just want a CALS table with row and line separators every (like a grid)? Generate PDF from DocBook using Calabash and XProc in Oxygen with Antenna House

Dear List, I need Help with an XProc Pipeline that should generate PDF From DocBook using AH Formatter in a Microsoft Windows 10 Environment. I am using a fresh Installation of Oxygen 24.1. What i have done so far / current status: - There is a XProc Pipeline which gets the DocBook File as Input, applies the DocBook 1 Stylesheets to generate FO, and applies xsl:formatter to generate PDF from XSL-FO. This Step calls the Apache FOP Processor shipped with Oxygen. It does generate a PDF, but images are not rendered (empty frames of the correct size within the PDF). - The primary result of the Pipeline is the XSL FO generated by the DocBook Stylesheets, so I am able to check the url für external-files in FO. They point to the images in my file system. I have tried many different ways to change this url, including relative paths instead of absolute paths. Nothing helped, the images are still missing. - Because of the missing images and other issues with Apache FOP (landscape Tables etc.) I have to switch to the Antenna House Formatter (v 7.2). - Oxygen Editor allows Integration of Antenna House. After doing so I can apply a Transformation Scenario to the XSL-FO generated by my XProc Pipeline. Works great, the Result is exactly what I need. PDF includes the Images with exactly the same input, on which Apache gave me empty frames. The only thing is, that i have to call this second Transformation scenario manually. It is not integrated in the Pipeline. - So the task seems to be simple: configure the xsl:formatter step in my XProc pipeline, so that Antenna House will be used instead of Apache FOP. But I did not find a way to achieve this. I do understand that - i have to configure xmlcalabah so that com.xmlcalabash.fo-processor system property gets the value com.xmlcalabash.util.FoAH. The best way would be a xmlcalabash configuration file, but how can I point from Oxygen to that config file? --- I was able to set the java System Property within the Oxygen Startup, and i can see the correct value in the Oxygen Help/About Info Box (that is, the system property com.xmlcalabash.fo-processor has the Value com.xmlcalabash.util.FoA), but the xsl-formatter Step doesn't care. It will still use Apache FOP. - I have to add the jar for the xmlcalabash1-print <https://github.com/ndw/xmlcalabash1-print> module to the claasspath. Maybe OXYGEN-INSTALL-DIR/xproc/engine? - I have to point to the directory where xmlcalabash can find the Antenna House jar files and the Licence File. How would I do that within Oxygen? IDs for new DITA topics

Hi all, I understand that a topic ID must be unique within the scope of the root ditamap used for publishing the content. FrameMaker, which I used previously, creates IDs of the type id172OC0C03J7 So there is an arbitrary combination of 11 digits and letters. In oXygen I have set the "DITA > ID Option" as follows: ${localName}_${id} Which creates IDs of the following type: task_rf2_vcg_ywb So there is an arbitrary combination of only 9 characters, mostly letters. But perhaps sufficient for ensuring uniqueness... However, when I use the "DITA > Insert > Insert New DITA Resource" command, oXygen does not honor the "ID Option" setting, but creates IDs which are identical to the file name. This is not what I want and surely not suitable for ensuring uniqueness. How can I get oXygen to honor the "ID Option" setting or make it otherwise generate IDs with arbitrary characters which are likely to be unique?
