Note on transformation scenarios

Dear George, It would be most useful if the transformation scenarios had an option that required the document in the editor to be refreshed after the transform (for cases where an XQuery transform is applied to the current document in a database and the editor does not spot the change). Also, use of XSLT result-document to generate multiple documents overrides the default document generated, the transformation scenarios do not handle this case (they always expect a result file). It's annoying to have Oxygen generate a preview of an empty file in these cases. Feature Request: SVN lock/unlock for Items in Map

For the DITA spec we are using SVN locks to help prevent overwritting of spec topics as the authors are not necessarily as well coordinated as they would be in an more typical enterprise. We use maps to organize different sections of the spec but the naming conventions and file organization practice does not make it easy to know what files go with what map. It occurred to me that it would be really handy of Oxygen could manage locks on a per-map basis when the map is managed in an SVN repository. custom transformation engines: provide parameters from scenarios list

Hello, I configured AltovaXML 2010 and Intel SOA Expressway XSLT Processor as custom xslt engines, but I found no way to provide the parameters from the transformation scenario's parameter list to the custom processors. Can you give me a hint? Many thanks, Stefan

XInclude requires xml:base= to be declared

When the preference XML > XML / XML Parser > Enable XInclude Processing is checked, I get an error message on validation of the including document if the xml:base= attribute is *not* declared for the root element of the included document. I am guessing that oXygen is tacking on an xml:base= attribute to the root element of the included documents before validation.

Potential IE whitespace issue in Oxygen

Dear George et al., I note a problem that cost me several hours of debugging. If I generate a strict and validated xhtml file through Saxon and then read it into the editor so that I can save it to a URI, the file no longer renders in IE, though it is still fine in other browsers. If I simply copy the file to it's destination with a filesystem copy then it works fine in IE. I am surprised that IE barfs on whitespace, but also concerned that Oxygen adds something troublesome into the file. On a brief inspection the problem seems to be both in the main text (the header is where I traced an unexplainable issue to using Visual Studio) and in the tail of the file, which appears to have garbage attached. Run time xml validation with xml schema and embedded schematron rules

Hello, I have an xml schema grammar file (xsd) with embedded iso schematron rules. When I modify an instance file, the only way to get a full validation (xsd + embedded schematron) is to select "External Validation": *Information Window*: [09:18:18] - XMLSchema XML Error Scanner - start scanning file:/D:/wip/operators.xml with schema(s): file:/D:/wip/operators.xsd [09:18:18] - Found 0 problem(s) [09:18:18] - Schematron Error Scanner - start scanning file:/D:/wip/operators.xml with schema(s): file:/D:/wip/operators.xsd [09:18:18] - Found 0 problem(s) The standard validator (automatically running when I modify the instance document) seems to ignore embedded schematron rules: *Information Window*: [09:20:23] - SaxonSA Error Scanner - start scanning file:/D:/wip/operators.xml [09:20:23] - Ended I have tried to link the xml file and its schema by: - defining the schema in the instance file, with a {http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance}schemaLocation attribute - defining a document type association. I cannot find a way to configure oxygen to always use the full validation (xml schema + embedded schematron). Any idea ? Thanks for your replies Vincent De Groote

Open Map in Zip in Maps Manager?

If I open a Zip that contains a .ditamap file and then open the map file from the archive manager, it opens in the main editor, not in the maps manager. Is there a way to open the map in the maps manager? This is in the context of a DITA interchange package Zip that contains all the resources used by the map. Content completion & nested dependencies

Hi, This is about inaccurate content completion lists in editing XML instances associated with certain Relax NG schemas. I have some schemas that have this kind of structure: ... <element name="item"> <attribute name="name"> <value>first</value> </attribute> <element name="response"> <attribute name="value"> <choice> <value>alpha</value> <value>beta</value> </choice> </attribute> </element> </element> <element name="item"> <attribute name="name"> <value>second</value> </attribute> <element name="response"> <attribute name="value"> <choice> <value>gamma</value> <value>delta</value> </attribute> </element> </element> ... resulting in instances that look like this: ... <item name="first"> <response value="alpha"/> </item> <item name="second"> <response value="gamma"/> </item> ... What I tend to find when editing the instance, the content completion lists are accurate for //item/@name, but generally **inaccurate** for //item/response/@value. I can understand this -- the latter have a layer of dependency that the former do not. On the other hand, when I validate such an instance, the error messages I get from Jing regarding //item/response/@value always accurately enumerate the valid options. For example, this (invalid) instance: ... 1) <item name="first"> 2) <response value="gamma"/> 3) </item> 4) <item name="second"> 5) <response value="alpha"/> 6) </item> ... would get the following errors from Jing: (line 2) [Jing] value of attribute "value" is invalid; must be equal to "alpha" or "beta". (line 5) [Jing] value of attribute "value" is invalid; must be equal to "gamma" or "delta". The content completion lists usually would just show the choices pertaining to item[@name="first"]/response/@name, even when attempting to complete the value entry for item[@name="second"]/response/@value. So basically, Jing sees all the dependencies, but the content completion list algorithm does not. So my question is: would it be possible to give the content completion engine some hints from Jing, in order to improve the accuracy in cases like this where there are such dependencies? Or is there some other strategy for improving content completion in these cases? John

NCName not valid

I have to generate a set of IDs in my XSL-FO file, and have done so. However, I get a complaint from Oxygen that: <fo:block " id="1-2">.... E [Xerces] cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '1' is not a valid value for 'NCName'. My programs seem to work, and I do not understand why I am getting this complaint. I thought digits were valid. What is wrong? Mark

Editor validation using MarkLogic

I'm trying to debug some XQuery code against a MarkLogic server. The debugging is working fine, but the editor red-highlights code that uses any ML extensions or functions. The error starts with : F [Saxon-HE XQuery 9.2.0.3] XQuery syntax error in #. ... So I know its using Saxon to do the editor validation.
