A few hours ago Ute Recker-Hamm posted a wonderful question to TEI-L, the main list for the Text Encoding Initiative.[1] She basically asked "what do y'all do to get your physical lines, as encoded with the empty TEI <lb> element, to line up nicely in oXygen?". I remember asking a similar question a few years ago, and vaguely recall being told that manipulating the options under "Preferences > Editor / Format / XML" (in particular the "Preserve space" and "Default space" lists) should get format-and-indent to do the trick. However, I recall that I never got it working to my satisfaction, and when I look through the archives of this list now, I can't find the answer I recall. So what is "it" that I want format-and-indent to do? When given a text that looks like this: view A ---- - I call our world Flatland, not because we call it so, but to make <lb/>its nature clearer to you, my happy readers, who are privileged to live <lb/>in Space. Imagine a vast sheet of paper on which straight Lines, Triangles, <lb/>Squares, Pentagons, Hexagons, and other figures, instead of remaining <lb/>fixed in their places, move freely about, on or in the surface, but without <lb/>the power of rising above or sinking below it, very much like shadows <lb/>—only hard with luminous edges—and you will then have a pretty <lb/>correct notion of my country and countrymen. Alas, a few years ago, <lb/>I should have said “my universe:” but now my mind has been opened <lb/>to higher views of things. I'd like it to end up formatted as it is now -- with each <lb> starting a new line. If the desired line length were long enough, it wouldn't be changed at all. If the desired line length were shorter, it might look like this: view B ---- - I call our world Flatland, not because we call it so, but to make <lb/>its nature clearer to you, my happy readers, who are privileged to live <lb/>in Space. Imagine a vast sheet of paper on which straight Lines, Triangles, <lb/>Squares, Pentagons, Hexagons, and other figures, instead of remaining <lb/>fixed in their places, move freely about, on or in the surface, but without <lb/>the power of rising above or sinking below it, very much like shadows <lb/>—only hard with luminous edges—and you will then have a pretty <lb/>correct notion of my country and countrymen. Defect in SVG viewer

I created an SVG document with - I believe - a version of oXygen in the 15.x series, about two years ago. I just opened it in oXygen to edit it, and it no longer renders correctly in oXygen. In the Mac Finder, Safari, and Firefox, it still does render correctly. Are there any known defects? If not, whom should I send the SVG to to create a defect report? Thanks.

What am I missing? Have things changed wrt whitespace-handling rules? (As I see it, the temporary tree $mixed should contain a whitespace-only text node between the 'one' and 'two' elements.) Oh icon my icon!

Apologies if this is a FAQ. I'm working on some "do this in oXygen" documentation, and would like to show the reader which button to click, e.g., for configuring a transformation scenario. I could, of course, use my computer's capture-a-snippet-of- the-screen utility. But it seems better (IMHO) to just use the original graphic, if readily available. Where in my oXygen/ directory would I find the icons? (I'm looking in version 16 either in Mac OS X or in GNU/Linux -- I don't have easy access to a Windows machine w/ oXygen.) (And yes, I use version 17, but this documentation is aimed at users of v 16. :-) Thanks.

DITA workshops using oXygen XML Editor

Plain '<' and '>' in reported Schematron messages?

Is there a way to un-escape '<' and '>' in the messages reported from Schematron validation? For example, this <report>: <report test="local-name($expression) = 'Empty'" role="Warning">'background-color=""' should be '<color> | transparent | inherit'.</report> produces: 'background-color=""' should be '<color> | transparent | inherit'. but the message in the 'Errors' window would be easier to read if it was: 'background-color=""' should be '<color> | transparent | inherit'. Add static function name list for auto-completion in XQuery

Hi, Is there any way, in oXygen, to augment the list of function names to use for auto-completion when in an XQuery editor? Basically, a processor can add any function to the static context. So some functions can be called in a module (so should be available for code completion), even with no corresponding import statement. I have such a list of extra functions I would like to be available in oXygen when I write XQuery code (not to be evaluated, just for writing code).
