Hi everyone, We’ve just released *Oxygen XML Editor 28* and I wanted to share a quick overview of a few highlights before you dive into the full list of changes. XProc users get integrated support for XProc 3.0/3.1 with XML Calabash 3.x. * *Comparison, validation, and everyday productivity* Directory comparison can now focus only on relevant subfolders, HTML comparison reports include the settings used, and file comparison shows comment callouts and clearer selections. OL Start .. and stop.

I'm working with DITA content that has lots of nested lists and those lists use custom numbering styles, as well as the occasional numbering reset (handled by setting the "start" attribute in HTML). I'm able to handle this fine in HTML and PDF output .. but it would be nice to also show all of this in the Author view in Oxygen. I'm good with the numbering styles, but the numbering reset (start) isn't going well. As far as I can tell, the "right" way to deal with this is to use the counter-reset and counter-increment CSS properties and to use the counter function in a content property (li:before). I can get this to work to some degree, but it's absurdly complicated, since you're no longer relying on the native numbering (style and incrementing) .. you have to recreate this for all possible cases. If there was a CSS "start" property, this would just work .. no? Yes. I know that "start" is a hack and was booted from HTML4 .. but it's back in HTML5. Yes. I know that in a perfect world, the start attribute shouldn't be needed .. but in reality, it is. I'm setting this in DITA as .. ol/@outputclass='start(n)' .. it's all "good" except that I can't get this to render in Oxygen. Is there some special Oxy-function that I'm missing? Any thoughts on how to address this? Thanks! Scott

Hi Scott, In the Oxygen "DITA Maps Manager" view there is a "Context" combo box, just make sure it refers to the top level DITA Map which includes directly or indirectly all other submaps that define the keys. Keys in submaps...

Maybe I'm missing some setting .. but as far as I know, it's fine to define keys in the root map or any submap. In a submap, I'm assigning keys thusly .. <topicref href="some-topic-1.xml" keys="p_1"/> <topicref href="some-topic-2.xml" keys="p_2"/> This works fine for an OT build, keys resolve fine, but Oxygen complains that these keys are not defined. It seems to only work if I declare a keydef in the root map that points to this file. <keydef keys="p_1" href="groups/group1/some-topic-1.xml"/> <keydef keys="p_2" href="groups/group1/some-topic-2.xml"/> I really don't want to define the filename of these topics in the root map .. it's much more convenient to keep them in the submaps with the topicrefs. Is this an issue in Oxygen or something that I'm missing? Thanks! Scott

The full day conference dedicated to the DITA Open Toolkit project, the reference DITA implementation and the core of almost all DITA-based publishing solutions, is a free and in-person event.
