Hi everyone, We are excited to announce the release of the Oxygen Git Client add-on version 3.0.0! Our developing team spent great efforts to further expand the add-on's functionality with the addition of these following improvements: 1. You can save the uncommitted changes into stashes, reapply or delete the stashed changes. 2. You can create new tags from the Git History contextual menu. In the Git Staging toolbar, there is an action to list all the tags. Tags from the local repository can be deleted or pushed to the remote repository. 3. Added a Merge "SELECTED_BRANCH" into "CURRENT_BRANCH" action in the contextual menu for local branches in Git Branch Manager. 4. When showing the history for a directory in the affected files section, the files that are descendants of the directory are presented on top and the files that are outside it are grayed out. 5. Added a Revert commit action in the contextual menu for commits from the Git History view. It creates a new commit that reverts all the changes from the selected commit. 6. Added a Reset file to this commit action to the contextual menu for resources associated to a revision in the Git History view. It checks out the selected version of the file. 7. Added an Open working copy version action to the contextual menu for resources associated to a revision in the Git History view. 8. A warning message is now displayed when trying to use the Mark as resolved action on a file that contains conflict markers. 9. A message prompt is now displayed if you try to switch the branch while there are uncommitted changes so that you can confirm that you want to stash the changes or move the changes to the new branch. 10. A new editor variable is now supported: ${git(working_copy_url)}. It is resolved to the URL of the current working copy directory. 11. When hovering the cursor over the Pull and Push buttons, the displayed tooltip now shows information about some of the incoming/outgoing commits (such as the date, author and message). 12. When hovering the cursor over a branch name, a tooltip is displayed that provides information about the last commit performed on that branch (such as the author and the date of the commit). 13. An information message that is shown when starting Oxygen while being on a detached HEAD now presents more information about the checked-out commit (ID, author, date, message). 14. The add-on's minimum compatible Oxygen version was increased to version 22.1. 15. The highlight boxes that surround branches and tags are now styled differently so that it is easier to identify which represents a branch and which represents is a tag. 16. The settings in the Git client preferences page can be saved at project level. The project can then be shared with other users and everyone will have the same Git client settings. 17. Fixed an issue that caused the commit details to be incorrectly displayed when a filter text was active in the History view. Major issue with this app and multi stand-alone windows

I have been struggling with this for years. When you drag any document into a new window, dialogs and menu options are no longer available. For example, if I drag an Xml document from the main Oxygen window into a new standalone window and then try to use the menu option: DOCUMENT | SCHEMA | GENERATE/CONVERT SCHEMA; is not available. Also, things like the Outline view, the Quick Search, Transformation Scenarios, etc.. all of a sudden are not available for any document that is hosted in a standalone window. It becomes very difficult (to impossible) to use the app when you spread windows across your desktops. Is this a known issue and can this be fixed? I'm a Windows user. Karl Stubsjoen (602) 845-0006

[ANN] Oxygen Translator Helper add-on version 1.1.0 has been released!

Hi everyone, We are excited to let you know that we updated the free Oxygen Translator Helper add-on to version 1.1.0! Starting with this version, the Translator Helper is now enhanced to provide support for translating content to various languages using "DeepL Translator”. To install it you can use the Oxygen main menu "Help->Install new add-ons", choose the default Oxygen add-on update site and you will find an add-on named "Translator Helper" in the list. To update the existing add-on you can use the Oxygen main menu Help->"Check for add-ons updates" action. Just to recap, the add-on has two main features: 1. You can translate content using "Google Translate" or "DeepL" to various languages: * Select the content to translate in the Author visual editing mode. You can also select the entire document contents but the translator might have limitations for the total amount they can translate. * Right click. Select "Translate->Google Translate" or "Translate->DeepL Translator" and choose the target language. * Copy the translated content from the opened web page. * Click Replace in the Oxygen Translate using Google Translate dialog that showed up. The original content should now be replaced with the translated content, the original element structure and attributes should remain unchanged. * In addition you can choose to show the original document content in the Translator Helper side view. This will allow you to correct the translation further by looking at the original text and the translated text side by side. 2. You can see the original content side by side with the content that you are translating, so you can translate correctly and easy by right clicking in the Author visual editing mode and invoking the Show current content in side view action. cant run spell check on my raspberry

I have been having fun running oXygen (v 23.1) on my little Raspberry 400. It takes a while to load from the USB stick, but runs smoothly (despite dire warnings at startup). However, I have hit a problem trying to use the spell checker, since you (obviously) don't ship a Raspbian binary of hunspell. The popup says "Error: could not load Hunspell. The error message was: Unknown OS/arch: linux/arm" Now, back in 2012, when someone reported the exact same problem here (but with reference to Solaris), they were advised to set the "spell checking engine" to "Java spell checker", which looked promising. However, that option is no longer available so far as I can tell, certainly not where Adrian said it was! Any suggestions?

Why can't Oxygen format and indent a 200MB file in 30 minutes whereas SAXON can do it in 15 seconds?

Hi Folks, I have (by today's standards) a medium sized XML file that is 200MB in size. It is unformatted (no indentation). I opened the file in Oxygen and clicked on the format and indent button. After 30 minutes of processing Oxygen gave up with an error message. So I wrote a simple 1-line XSLT program (below) to do the indentation, it took about 15 seconds and was done. When I generate the default responsive output, however, I see the ID of the fig displayed, so "See #test/fig_nmn_q1s_mqb". Any idea how this can be fixed? Thanks Yves

I don't observe this happening in Oxygen Author 18.1. Is there a Markdown workaround that still does the right thing on GitHub? Unresloved index-key value error

Hello, We are receiving an error when transforming a set of dita files into a PDF. The error message is very obscure, in that it is very difficult to pinpoint the source of the error. Here is the message: [ahf] Unresolved index-key value: "indexid-1393266570". As far as I know, there is no way to locate the indexid in a dita file/ditamap. We initially suspected that it may have been due to an empty index tag, but we have not been able to find such culprit. We are stymied at this point - any help with debugging this message would be greatly appreciated! *regards* Hank D. Gorbsky

How to inform the tool that generates sample instances which subtype to use for elements have abstract types?

Hi Folks, I really, really like the tool that generates sample XML files from an XML Schema. But, ...................... It has a problem .................. I have an element that is declared to have a type that is a complexType and the complexType is abstract. There are multiple concrete subtypes of the abstract complexType. When the Oxygen tool gets to the element, it realizes that its type is an abstract complexType, so it randomly (?) picks one of the subtypes. And it almost always picks the wrong subtype. So the generated XML instance document is wrong .................... Is there a way to tell the Oxygen tool, "Hey, when you encounter this element, with this parent, then use this subtype"? /Roger

I tried to record David Maus's "What's in a Schematron?" paper from Markup UK 2021 on the Wayback Machine at web.archive.org. The paper is available as Oxygen WebHelp at https://markupuk.org/webhelp/index.html#ar02.html Saving that URL on the Wayback Machine records the URL without the fragment identifier. [1] The Wayback Machine shows just the ToC. Clicking on "What's in a Schematron?" in the ToC temporarily takes you to an archived page [2] but the page refreshes twice and you are back at the current https://markupuk.org/webhelp/index.html#ar02.html. That page will be a completely different paper as soon as there's a Markup UK 2022. The Markup UK 2021 papers aren't yet listed under 'Past Conferences' on their website, so a more permanent URL for David's paper doesn't yet exist. Is there a way to stop the Wayback Machine from refreshing to show the current version of an archived URL of an Oxygen WebHelp page? So, if you use Unicode UTF-16 when reading the file then each pair of two bytes will be decoded as one character and the codes for "Hello world" will result in those unexpected characters - you can also note that there are 6 strange characters instead of 12 as you would expect, this is exactly because URF-16 is using 2 bytes for each character. Please change that setting (Options->Preferences -- Encoding -- Fallback character encoding) to the default value UTF-8 and you should be able to open the file as expected. Dear Roger, When you open a file in Oxygen the bytes representing that file content will be translated to characters using a character encoding. For XML files there is a detection process described by the XML spec. For other type of files the rule is to always use UTF-8. For generic text files there is no encoding information available, so Oxygen provides a default (UTF-8) and exposes that as an option that the user can set, see Options->Preferences -- Encoding -- "Fallback character encoding" and also the corresponding user guide topic: https://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/versions/23.1/ug-editor/topic/preferences-enc… The first thing to do is to check what value you have for this option in your Oxygen installation, to understand what encoding is used to read the content of that text file. That should ideally match the encoding you used to create the file. You may also attach that sample file to a reply, to allow us to better understand what content has the file what you want to open. Why is Oxygen showing my files in Chinese?

Hi Folks, I created a Hello, world text file using Notepad. Then I dragged and dropped the file into Oxygen. Oxygen displays the text in Chinese (I think). See screenshot below. How do I fix this? /Roger [cid:image001.png@01D756BD.B9E32DC0]

Hi Folks, I have an XML Schema with a simpleType that enumerates its values. The enumeration values are long; for example, here is one value: <xs:enumeration value="end coordinates of the starting point and ending point" /> I wrote an XSLT program that generates a schema-conformant instance document. Before validation I clicked on the Format/Indent button to get the instance document nicely formatted. Then I clicked on the Associate Schema button. Then I clicked on the Validate button. Validation failed! When I checked to see what failed, I saw this: <shapeIsDefinedBy>end coordinates of the starting point and ending point</shapeIsDefinedBy> Yikes! The formatting/indenting tool split the enumeration value across lines, which created an invalid enumeration value. Here's the trick I learned: 1. Load the instance document into Oxygen XML 2. Click on the Associate Schema button 3. Click on the Format/Indent button 4. Click on the Validate button Do it in that order! The key is to Associate Schema first and then Format/Indent. When you associate a schema first, then the Oxygen format/indent tool knows that it shouldn't split enumeration values across lines. /Roger
