oxygen XML editor on Ubuntu 19.10

Hi there, I am trying to use oXygen 21.1 on Ubuntu 19.10. The java interface behaves strange there, it seems not to accept mouse interaction. Is this a known problem / is there a fix for this? All the best, Christian

Dynamic parameter in oxy_path

Dear mailinglist members. I am creating an Oxygen framework to display XML data in Oxygen XML Author's Author mode. But now I need to create the line "/TEI/text/body/div/ab[@xml:id='n_123_456']/seg[@type='name']/orgName/text()" dynamically which means: Instead of the specific value xml:id n_123_456 it should use whatever the value of the attribute @hkg:orgKey of the node <affiliation> is. I tried this: "/TEI/text/body/div/ab[@xml:id=@hkg:orgKey]/seg[@type='name']/orgName/text()" but it doesn't work. I also tried other variations like ab[@xml:id='@hkg:orgKey'] or ab[@xml:id=attr('hkg:orgKey')] and many more but none of them gave me the expected result. Maybe it is a syntax problem. I really hope there will be a solution to this and I would be very thankful for assistance. Any help is appreciated. I tried to send as much code as needed but of course shortened some parts not relevant in this case. If something is missing (or too much) please let me know. copyright symbol not from Alegreya font but from Arial

Hi, I had this already solved, but after a hard disk crash I have to do it again: My text (a copyright marker on the second page after the title page) shows the symbol as arial while the proper symbol of the Alegreya font is present on the desktop. the one in the pdf the same in inkscape. Which paramater do I have to change to get the proper symbol of the font? Regards Bernhard

schematron validation in a batch file

One of the features of oXygen which I really love is the way it allows me to combine schema validation with RELAXNG and with schematron just by adding a couple of PIs to the top of my file. But this requires me to fire up oXygen and open up each file one by one which is not so convenient if I have 100 or more independent documents to validate. I would rather do this in a bash script, along with all the other pre-validation sanitation work. But (a) only oXygen will take any notice of my PIs (obviously) (b) none of the open source validators I've looked at seems to have a hook for including schematron validation (c) oxyGen will do a batch validation of documents included in a project file, which is close to what I want, but still requires me to fire up oXygen, make the project file and click a couple of times, so not really a batch process Maybe someone else has found a way round this, or could explain to me why it's just not possible. And how exactly does oXygen do this magic?

'<' in validation scenario names?

I have a validation scenario for Schematron checking of pseudo-attributes of '<?pdf?>' PIs. The people editing the documents are quite used to seeing the PIs referred to as '<?pdf?>'. If I include '<?pdf?>' in the scenario name, it shows as '<?pdf?>' in the 'Configure validation scenario(s)' dialog box but as '?pdf?>' in the 'Problems' panel. If I include '<?pdf?>' in the scenario name, it shows as '<?pdf?>' in the 'Configure validation scenario(s)' dialog box and as '<?pdf?>' in the 'Problems' panel. Is there a way for '<' to show in both places? Using <oXygen/> XML Editor 21.1, build 2019090904. Independet second index, is it not possible nor not?

About one year ago, I was told that an index beside the main index was not yet possible. e.g. a construct like > <index type="science"> > <title>Wissenschaftliches Namesverzeichnis</title> had no second index as a consequence. Maybe that has changed. Can you tell me more? I found this in the Docbook XSL - the compete guide by Bob Stainton. PI between <tr> visible in Author mode?

I have processing instructions that can appear almost anywhere in an XHTML document. This includes appearing between table rows: </tr> <?pdf stuff?> <tr> Most PIs are visible in Author mode because of the CSS rule in oXygen's 'authorDefaults.css': oxy|processing-instruction { display:-oxy-morph !important; color: rgb(139, 38, 201) !important; white-space:pre-wrap !important; border-width:0px !important; margin:0px !important; padding: 0px !important; } However, the PIs between <tr> are not visible in Author mode with <oXygen/> XML Editor 21.1, build 2019061404. Neither of these have worked for me: tbody > oxy|processing-instruction { display: table-row !important; } tbody > oxy|processing-instruction { display: table-cell !important; } (Yes, there are <tbody> parents of the PIs.) Is there a way for the PIs between <tr> to be visible (and editable) when in Author mode? A question concerning the occasional IMPERMANENCE of open tabs in Oxygen projects, when "reopening" those projects.

Dear members of the Oxygen support team and of the user group, I have a question concerning the IMPERMANENCE of open tabs in Oxygen projects. Mor precisely, I am currently working on several ancient texts, for which I am preparing electronic editions (in a progressively changing XML format) and each text has its own project. When I exit Oxygen, I usually leave several tabs open in the currently open project, and I expect to find themselves still open when I restart Oxygen (and I can see that Oxygen reloads the open files, whih can take time because many files are bulky and contain complex structures with possibly tens of thousands of elements. When I switch from one project to another one (using the "Reopen project" in the "Project" menu) I have also come to expect that I shall find the same open tabs as I had left open during the previous editing session for the same project (which is therefore "virtually open") Howevever, I have recently noticed that this does not always happen. On several occasions, I have had to individually reopen files, after using the "Reopen project" (which currently lists 29 projects in its menu) This being said, I can now restate my question. -- is there a limit in the number of open tabs which can be remembered? (or in the number of virtually open projects between which one can smoothly navigate) -- can discontinuities [in remembering] be caused by the installation of a new build (or a new version)? Odd Overstruck Glyphs When Printing from Author Mode

Hello all, I am authoring some TEI P5 XML in Oxygen and would like to print the Author mode view. However, when i do so there are some overstruck glyphs at the beginning and end of each line, and also at the beginning and end of text between XML tags. These glyphs are being rendered as boxes or as boxes containing question marks. Though i've been using other fonts in my editor, i switched to Arial Unicode MS so that i could see what these glyphs are. One is a curlicue appearing at the lower left of the text, and another is a somewhat 3-like mark appearing at the upper right of the text. What are these glyphs, why are they appearing, and how do i get rid of them? Thanks, Ruchira

Managing revisions

Hi group I'm using oXygen XML Editor version 21 to author DITA-structured content and I was wondering how to manage revisions. This is what I'd like to do: - Track changes automatically, i.e. without having to change the @rev attribute manually - Indicate the changed paragraphs with change bars in the PDF (using Miramo) - Generate a list of revisions I'm not using a CCMS or a version management system at this moment. One dialog box for multiple ${ask} in external tool definition?

Would you consider modifying the handling of ${ask} [1] in the definition of an external tool so that oXygen pops up one dialog box for all of the ${ask} instead of a sequence of single-value dialog boxes when there are multiple ${ask}? A combined dialog box would be simpler for the user since they could see everything at once. It would avoid wanting to change an earlier response when you see the question for a later ${ask}. How do I do a pipe-line in Oxygen?

Dear Oxygen suport and Oxygen experts, can someone tell me how to make a pipeline in Oxygen? Typically, I start from a file called File_A.xml to which I apply a script called Script_1.xslt the result being a file called File_B.xml to which I apply a script called Script_2.xslt the result being a file called File_C.xml to which I apply a script called Script_3.xslt the result being a file called ..................... ................... ........... ................ File_M.xml to which I apply a script called Script_m.xslt the result being a file called File_N.xml Usually, when configuring the scenarios File_A.xml is associated with Script_1.xslt File_B.xml is associated with Script_2.xslt File_C.xml is associated with Script_3.xslt ...................... See the complete list of new features here: http://www.oxygenxml.com/#new-version New in Oxygen XML Editor 21.1 ============================= Version 21.1 of the Oxygen XML Editor includes numerous improvements for DITA, CSS-based PDF publishing, JSON, XSLT, translation support in the content completion feature, new editing features and validation support for HTML documents, new APIs, various component updates, and much more. Some examples of improvements added in this version for DITA authoring include the ability to use the Resource Hierarchy/Dependencies view to show all the direct references for DITA resources, a new action (Find Similar Topics) that can be used to quickly find related topics that can be added as related links in the current topic, improvements when pasting table content both inside the table or outside, and when searching for references to images, the generated results will report direct references, instances where key references are used, and links to IDs. For those who use the CSS-based PDF publishing support, the DITA Map to PDF - based on HTML5 .& CSS transformation scenario now has support for a new parameter for generating a mini table of contents at the beginning of each chapter, support was added for numerous languages (including Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Spanish), new parameters can be used to control deep numbering options, and you now have the ability to style topics depending on their role (such as preface, notice, abstract, or copyright). The XML to PDF Transformation with CSS scenario was also improved to include an option to apply CSS stylesheets that are specified in the framework. With the release of version 21.1, Oxygen PDF Chemistry is no longer in a BETA stage. Oxygen PDF Chemistry is included in Oxygen as the default PDF publishing engine and it is also now available as a separate commercial option for those who want to use the publishing engine outside of Oxygen. An HTML framework was added to provide specialized editing features for HTML content, without treating it as XHTML. The brand new HTML editor offers various editing features such as a new document template, folding support, syntax highlighting, and the Content Completion Assistant offers HTML-specific proposals as well as annotations and links to the HTML5 specification. A built-in validator based on the W3C HTML Validator was added and the Outline view handles void elements or elements that are not closed to present the HTML structure properly. JSON users now have a tool for generating sample JSON instances from a JSON schema, the JSON document template now includes several customization options, and JSON Schemas with multiple references are resolved correctly. XSLT developers now have proposals in the content completion for XSLT 3.0 accumulators, better support for text value templates, and transformation improvements. Other features and improvements include translation support for the Content Completion Assistant, a new XPath function that returns the current platform, and nested editor variables are now supported. mysterious new validation error in ODD-generated Relax NG XML schema

Dear oXygen list, I generated a schema in Relax NG XML syntax from a TEI ODD file some weeks ago, on May 6, and the schema behaved as I expected it to. It is posted on my GitHub repo and shared with my project team, and other members of my team worked with it in the past few weeks. I have not edited the schema that my team using since that date. Today one of my team members alerted me that she was seeing a strange error, and I confirmed locally that this is on the Relax NG schema. The error reads: Description Effective boolean value is not defined for a sequence of two or more items starting with a boolean Severity Fatal System ID https://digitalmitford.github.io/DM_documentation/MitfordODD/out/mitfordODD… Main validation file /Users/elisa/Downloads/OVWalksInTheCountryTHECOWSLIPBALL.xml <http://users/elisa/Downloads/OVWalksInTheCountryTHECOWSLIPBALL.xml> Engine name ISO Schematron Start location line: 4996, column: 0 Here is another wrinkle to the problem. In attempting to debug, I generated a new RNG schema from the source ODD to see if that would make a difference. Interestingly, it did, with this effect: On attempting to validate a project XML file, I saw the same message about the effective boolean value, only this time it pointed to a different line in the RNG (not 4996, but 5151). In neither of these cases was the code on these lines at all meaningful or related to the reported ISO Schematron error. Line 4996 is the blank line below after defining the element binaryObject. <define name="teibinaryObject"> <element name="binaryObject"> <text/> <ref name="teiatt.global.attributes"/> <ref name="teiatt.media.attributes"/> <ref name="teiatt.timed.attributes"/> <ref name="teiatt.typed.attributes"/> ... </define> The other line was similarly not about making a boolean test of any kind. I do not understand what could be causing these problems, particularly since the schema was behaving normally two weeks ago. I cannot seem to generate a working schema now due to this strange ISO-Schematron error that keeps flagging different lines of my Relax NG document. Classic responsive webhelp

Hi group I use oXygenXML Editor/Author to generate webhelp from my DITA-based content. I see that some customers still like the "classic" (but deprecated) webhelp, because they like to have the table of contents pane and the Search pane on the left when they view the webhelp on their computers. The classic webhelp, however, is not responsive. Is there an easy way (or does Synchro Soft has any plans) to add a "classic but responsive" transformation scenario? Thanks Yves

Invoking Schematron on XML document hat has attached XML schema

Hi, today I have been debugging some Schematron validation weirdnes. I have observed that if XML document has XSD schema attached using xs:schemaLocation then Schematron validation is invoked on PSVI -- ie. document model that has assigned types from the schema. So even if Schematron is for example comparing dates without explicit type cast: <assert test="StartDate < EndDate"> then this operates on xs:date types as they have been assigned from the schema automatically. Is that right observation? Jirka BTW, I don't think this is a bug, I have been just surprised as I was getting different validation results then I've expected on untyped document. Very limited memory for git difftool

I was resolving merge conflicts for a modest XML file of ~2500 lines. I was surprised when it ran out of memory; looking at diffFiles.sh I was surprised to see that the memory was limited to 512 MB (-Xmx512m). Shouldn't that default to a significantly higher value for the 64-bit install of Oxygen? I believe most of the vmoptions files set a default memory of ~4 GB. I changed my local copy but I know the next minor update will overwrite my changes. Thanks, Lee
