Easy insertion of en/em-dash

I use the standard keyboard shortcut of Alt+0151, but I'd love to see en-dashes and em-dashes added to the Entities tab. I also tried added them in the code templates, and while it does work, it gives them the appearance of being actual elements, rather than character entities. Easy way to type them would be similar to how auto-correction work in some editors: Typed characters => output - => - -- => – (en-dash) --- => — (em-dash) ---- => - (cycle back to hyphen and so on) Has already someone implemented this as a pluging? Hi I'm building a glossary using a bookmap with nested glossentry topicref elements, were transforming fine until I inserted a reference topicref within a glossentry one. The item appears inside its rendered parent topic but the rendered link cannot resolve to the corresponding page. Is there a problem in nesting a reference topicref within a glossentry in the map? Hi oXygen I'd like to use custom colors for various element tags in my Author view of oXygen XML Author, for example yellow tags for step/cmd and green tags for info. EPUB 3.01 schemas

I earlier installed the html5-document-30.rnc schema to solve some validation problems with epub 3. I have run into another problem with the package file, and have downloaded the set of 301 schemas from idpf. Has anyone tried to install this set of schemas in the oxygen frameworks directories? Using XQuery Update Modifies Whole Document

I suspect this is a limitation or unavoidable consequence of how XQuery update works, or at least how Saxon does things, but I wanted to check. If I have a DTD-based document, e.g., a DITA map or topic, and apply an XQuery update to it using Saxon EE, I noticed that the entire document is updated such that the DOCTYPE declaration is removed and all defaulted attributes are now explicit in the instance, which is obviously not to be desired. Is there any way to avoid this behavior? My alternative is to use XSLT of course but I was trying to use XQuery update as being more convenient for certain types of enhancements to existing documents, namely adding attributes to existing elements. Author Mode - CSS style(s) in effect

... subtitled: Why is <aff> generating a blank line in my display? When viewing an XML document instance in a browser such as Chrome, I can view the document in developer mode which allows me to select a portion of the document in the display area and then, in the lower section of the webpage, view the markup source as well as the CSS that has been applied. In oXygen, I can see anything and everything about the XML markup (and choose exactly what information I'd like displayed in the side frames), but I can't see exactly what CSS rules are being triggered for any particular element in context, making stylesheet development and debugging cumbersome. I can view the same document in a browser and use the development tools as an aid (basically switching back and forth from browser to oXygen), but in one particular situation (which I now find myself in) the browser display is fine but oXygen is doing something funky and for the life of me I have no idea why. Is my head buried into the sand so deep that I'm missing something in the view menu that will display the CSS? If not, has this feature been requested in the past? As a user, I've also registered an enhancement request for a CSS inspector in Oxygen. In the meantime, I've resorted to duplicating selectors and setting debug colors to a background to detect padding and margin issues or colorizing text or setting other attributes in CSS to detect which selector is getting fired, which makes the whole trial and error process very time consuming. It is analogous to sprinkling printf statements in your code to debug a program. It's possible, but it's much more time consuming and error prone than going into a debugger to tell it to pause when part of your code is attempting to alter a particular variable, or set a particular attribute in this case. In the meantime, Syncrosoft has been very responsive if you send them your framework. I would be satisfied for a while if there was an Author Mode preference debug switch to dump a text trace of which attributes were being set by which selectors in which file. It would be an interim solution until the intricacies of a developing a GUI CSS inspector could be prioritized and conquered. At least with such a trace, a user could search in reverse chronological order to see where an attribute was last set in the cascading sequence. If they would allow the use of wildcard strings to specify which elements, attributes, values, and CSS files to filter by, it would be even better. If there was an option to dump a CSV file of such data, I could do the filtering in a spreadsheet if I had to. Another option for such an implementation would be to dump the data into one of Oxygen's tabular output views where sorting and filtering could be done by the same criteria I mentioned earlier. Hi, Mary! When using <xref> in DocBook and you click on chain-link icon or grayed-out identifier you will jump to the target location. It happens not to link the cited text (even though the element itself is EMPTY) so that could probably be a new feature in the DocBook framework. I suggest you check how it is done in the DocBook framework to get clues how to do it in your own framework. I hope this helps! . . . . . . That is, to turn the xref element content ("Figure 2" in the example below) into a hypertext link that, when clicked, places the cursor at the start of the actual footnote, table, or figure? Make Enable Master Files Default For New Projects

When I create a new project I never don't want master files enabled but I don't yet have any (or know what they might be or want to be bothered identifying them at that moment). I find it annoying to have to respond to the "enable master files" prompt every time. Would be nice if I could set a preference that would make new projects automatically enable master files and go on. A small annoyance I realize, but when I'm creating a new project it's usually in the context of "oh crap, I need to do this new thing Right Now", so these two actions are in the way of me doing what I actually want to do, so the annoyance is multiplied more than it would be if I was creating a project in a calm and considered way, which I never am. Of course, I could be somewhat unique in this aspect due to the nature of the work I do and how I do it (which is to say, I'm always doing a million different things and always starting something new). Testing Subject Schemes

Hi I'm running an elementary Subject Scheme test to learn how to use it later for producing a full taxonomy, followed the simple instructions at http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-editor/topics/subject-scheme-map.html. However, when using the attribute defined in the subject scheme map, and although auto completion recognizes its defined values; I get the error: Attribute "p-doc" must be declared for element type "p", where "p-doc" is the 'attributedef' name within the 'enumerationdef' element. Subject scheme file validates well and ditamap file references the subject scheme file. The three files are attached. Would appreciate any directions about this. They are rendered as in an HTML document loaded in a web browser: p begins a new paragraph, br breaks the current line, ul encloses a list of items, li encloses an item of the list. makes it sound as this is only supported for XML Schema, but at least <br> seems to work for Relax as well. focus XPath/XQuery Builder view

Hi, Sometimes, having an (XQuery) file open, I'd like to do some experimentation in the XQuery Builder view. You add a couple of lines of code, try it out, etc. Then, I'd like to comment out a line or a selection using Ctrl-Shift-, in this view, but this doesn't work. Apparently, the focus for this type of action remains with the previous file, and suddenly you get a comment where you cursor is in this file (or, if a selection was active, around it). The behaviour is the same on Windows and Mac, latest 16.0, build 2014070913. These commands are listed under the "Document" menu item which is coherent with their behaviour (they apply to documents only, not to "buffers"), but I would argue that commands like this should be applicable in the window or view where the cursor is currently active, and this would be very useful there. Maybe that's not as easy as it sounds because of the Eclipse underpinnings? Could you consider this for a future improvement? cheers, Jakob.

advice on epub scenario customization

I am creating an ebook in epub, MOBI and PDF formats from TEI XML. I want to use the built-in transformation scenario in oxygen to create the epub file. But I want to be able to customize the output too. I have seen that the following files are drawn on in the scenario: /Applications/oxygen/frameworks/tei/xml/tei/stylesheet/tei.css /Applications/oxygen/frameworks/tei/xml/tei/stylesheet/epub/tei-to-epub.xsl /Applications/oxygen/frameworks/tei/xml/tei/stylesheet/profiles/default/epub/to.xsl I’ve tested modifying at least one of them to alter the output, which seemed to work. I’m looking for any advice on other files to modify in the process, or possibly other approaches on generating ebooks from TEI XML. Thanks, Andrew

Applying a Transform Scenario to Just a Directory, Not Its Children

I have written an eXist-db xquery that imports all the files within a directory tree. One of the parameters is the directory to start from. If I apply this to a directory in the project view it appears that the transformation scenario is applied to all the subdirectories. I didn't see a way to turn off this behavior. Is it possible? For use from Oxygen I could modify my query to take a file as input and then import the directory that contains the file, but I was hoping to avoid that small complication. oxy_xpath with xinclude

Hi there, I use oxy_xpath funktion in CSS like this oxy_xpath("string-join(distinct-values(./..//DT/text()),',')") which works very well with an XML like this: <TD> <D> <DT>..</DT> <D> <D> <DT>..</DT> <D> </TD> But if D elements are in XML modules included with XInclude <TD> <xi:include href="d1.xml"/> <xi:include href="d2.xml"/> </TD> No result is found (as expected first). But if I execute XPath in Author mode the results I'm looking for are found. Is there any chance to get this or another oxy_xpath working with xincludes? This oxy_xpath call is the value of "values" property in a popupselection control. So I could implement my own custom control, but I want to avoid this, if possible. Thanks for any hints Markus

Setting saxon:line-length from transformation scenario

(Apologies if this doubles up.) Saxon has two useful variable for output: saxon:line-length and saxon:indent-spaces. These determine the respective output parameters. They can be set as attributes on xsl:output, but I would like to be able to set them in association with the transform scenario. Can this be done? The EPUB3 sample index at http://carpeindexum.com/idpf/index_sample.xhtml contains the following gem:  <li id="four"><span epub:type="index-term">FourSquare</span>, <a epub:type="index-locator" href="epubcfi(/6/8[chap05ref]!/4[body01], /156[p142]/1:0, /157[p143]/1:0)">142-143</a>, <a epub:type="index-locator" href="...">150</a></li> Oxygen doesn't like it, but it seems to be kosher according to: http://www.idpf.org/epub/linking/cfi/epub-cfi.html It doesn't look like a trivial fix. UI for Creating Key-Based Image Refs?

Using 16.0 in Author mode with DITA, having created a key definition bound to an image, there doesn't appear to be a tool bar or menu item to insert an image reference to a key. I would expect either a separate Toolbar button analogous to the conref/conkeyref buttons or a single Insert Image dialog that offers both a URI and key selector when there are keys bound to non-DITA resources (or resources with known image types) in the current key-providing map.
