Preventing oXygen XML Author to start a new "instance"

Hi group When I have oXygen XML Author open and double-click an xml file in Windows Explorer, a new "instance" of oXygen XML Author is started in which this file is opened. Configuring OT's FOP To Render MathML

Using Oxygen 15.1 with the 1.6.3 OT with FOP 1.1 manually installed into the pdf2 plugin, and given DITA docs with MathML and a plugin that outputs the MathML as markup within fo:instream-foreign-object elements, if I run the OT PDF transform from within Oxygen, then FOP renders the MathML nicely. I noticed that Oxygen includes the jeuclid-core and jeuclid-fop jars and I tried copying those into the pdf2/fop/lib dir. If I run the normal Toolkit process without the Oxygen-defined -lib options (meaning it’s using the class path defined by the startCmd.sh) then FOP complains about the MathML markup as being unrecognized, even with the JEuclid libraries present (which suggests that the Toolkit’s Ant process is not automatically loading the libraries). Likewise, if I run the fop shell agains the FO file I get the same MathML complaints. I verified that both the Oxygen-supplied FOP jar and the one in my OT are 1.1, e.g.: contrext01:fop ekimber$ java -jar /Applications/oxygen/lib/fop.jar -v FOP Version 1.1 contrext01:fop ekimber$ java -jar build/fop.jar -v FOP Version 1.1 So I’m at a bit of a loss as to how Oxygen is getting the result I want and what I need to do to get that same result outside of Oxygen. Forms controls in tables

Hi, So, I have a case where an element's contents are validated to an enumerated list of strings in RelaxNG. In a CSS, I have a form control that populates a pull down list of the values from the schema. This works well: account { -oxy-editable: true; content: oxy_textfield( edit, "#text", columns, 30, values ); visibility: -oxy-collapse-text; } However, when I set this element to display as a table cell in a table, I get extra vertical whitespace below it. When I remove the 'visibility' property, it displays as I expect (each table row flush with the next). But of course then I see the contents twice, once with the pull-down control, and once as normal contents. Any hints? Additional Java operations for Oxygen XML frameworks available on github

Dear Oxygen XML users, On https://github.com/telota/ediarum/tree/master/oxygen_java you can now download ediarum.jar - a package of currently nine Java operations which extends the out-of-the-box Java operations for actions in Oxygen XML frameworks - especially with operations for working with a central index XML file in a database. If you would like to only use these functions you just have to download the file ediarum.jar (https://github.com/telota/ediarum/raw/master/oxygen_java/ediarum.jar) and store it into your framework. Then you have to reference this JAR file in your Oxygen framework definition in the tab "Classpath". The files are available for download under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public Licence (LGPL). If you're trying to achieve image display in Author mode you can use oXygen's CSS extensions modify the location of the image file. This is working for me. All images are stored in a folder named "graphic" that is relative to the location of the XML file. References to image files use a graphic element that contains the file name in an xlink:href attribute, for example: <graphic xlink:href="image.tif"/> Then in Author mode CSS I've defined how the graphic element should be displayed and where to locate the file, for example: graphic { content: oxy_url(oxy_parent-url(attr(xlink|href, url)),"graphic/",attr(xlink|href)); vertical-align: middle } This example is not DITA. You might need to change the element and attribute names to something like this: image { content: oxy_url(oxy_parent-url(attr(href, url)),"graphic/",attr(href)); vertical-align: middle } and change the folder path for your system. My first thought would be to use an XML catalog to map the current URLs to the correct ones. As a matter of principle, I always prefer to refer to external resources with a full URL, including domain name, then use a catalog to map the URL to a local path. That way if one set of resources is moved relative to another, all I have to do to restore the connection is to update the catalog. These paths are not valid (what can I say, I used Arbortext ;-)) and I am trying to move away from this practice by converting it in to relative paths. In the meantime, is there any thing I can do to make this valid. I have looked at some options including: - Change path using the ChangeAttribute Author default operation (Question, is there any the operation can be triggered on document open in OxygenXML Author). - Using the Java API (Again, any way this trigger this on document open) Is there a better way to do this? Find and replace dialog growing

Hi! I'm trying to use oxygen in the i3 window manager, and I have a peculiar problem. Namely that the find dialog grows every time that I open it. After five or ten usages the dialog is way bigger than the screen. This also happens with various other dialogs, such as the "define transformation scenario" dialogue and others. On a side note, I've also noticed that the "Link with editor" button isn't working. I know that i3 is a somewhat unusual wm, but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this in i3 or other window managers and have figured out a solution. Best regards, Alexander

Based on this I have implemented WYSIWYG editing DocBook with ITS2 http://www.w3.org/TR/its20/ in oXygen. Since oXygen is providing WYSIWYG functionality based on document types, I started with DocBook - here we have the DocBook+ITS2 schema from Jirka. Custom action to process a document and update an element?

For the DITA RelaxNG support that will be in DITA 1.3 I want to implement an action that can be applied to RNG document type shell grammars that looks at each referenced module, gets its domains attribute contribution (which will be in a specific subelement within the referenced module, and add it to the right place in the shell (a pattern named “domains-att”). This is of course easy to do with XSLT. My question: what’s the best way to set this up in Oxygen so that I can just do an “update domains attribute” action when editing a document type shell schema? Feature request: Improvement of Japanese search for WebHelp

Hi, I like Oxygen WebHelp very much and recommend it to Japanese users. The WebHelp is sophisticated online manual solution, but one issue has still remained for Japanese users. That is a Japanese search. For Japanese it's difficult to extract words from sentences. Because the words are not separated by spaces. Therefore, in general, a morphological analyzer is used to extract the words from the sentences. Recently, an open source Japanese morphological analyzer which is called "Kuromoji" has become popular. The Apache Solr has introduced Kuromoji as the morphological analyzer. So, my feature request is that Oxygen WebHelp plug-in will incorporate Kuromoji as the morphological analyzer. And add a parameter which selects a stemmer for generating a WebHelp output. Hi, right now we're creating our MarkLogic data sources manually, using the UI. Is there a way to create them by modifying a configuration file, or an API to send setup requests to? We're having a quite a lot of these data sources, but creating them by hand gets cumbersome. And we really like the possibility to inspect the database's contents via WebDAV from within OxygenXML. cheers, Jakob.

Multiple but independent inline editors

Hi all, another newbie question I assume. I want to add a set of inline editors. With a dedicated CSS style and given <span its:translate="no">... an editor for editing the "translate" attribute, a combo box editor should be available for editing the attribute. The issue is that there are many of such attributes, e.g. <span its:translate="no" its:locNote="..." its:storageSize="..." its:term="..."> ... First I thought of creating a combobox for each of these. But CSS selectors don't allow you to match several rules at once. So if I have *[its|translate]:before { combobox def here } and later in the stylesheet *[its|term]:before { combobox def here } an element like above that contains both attributes will only show the combox for "its:term". I can write *[its|translate][its|term]:before { combobox def here } but this will show comboxes for all attributes even if they are not present. I tried a workaround: defining CSS rules for all potential combinations, that is: only translate, only term, both translate+term, ... but since there are a lot of attributes to consider, the CSS stylesheet looks really bad. Maybe there is a workaround that does not rely on CSS selectors? Thanks, Felix

Removing or adding two attributes at the same time

Hi all, For an oXygen framework (DocBook), I would like to exectue an operation that removes or adds two attributes at the same time after the user has clicked on a button. The use case is that in my DocBook customization these attributes need to appear at the same time. Adding or removing just one of them would make the file invalid, and having two buttons is not an option, because there are many such combined attributes, the GUI would get too full. The ChangeAttributeOperation at http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-oxygen/index.html#topics/dg-default-author-… didn't work for me since I cannot have two of these operations associated with one button. Looking at http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-oxygen/index.html#topics/the-action-dialog.… it seems not possible to trigger two operations via one action: "An action has one or mode operation modes. The evaluation of an XPath expression activates an operation mode. The first enabled operation mode is activated when you trigger the action." I also tried to evoke an XSLT transformation via XSLTOperation that removes the attributes. But although the "script" value IMO opinion points to the right location of the XSLT and that XSLT file is valid, I get an error from evoking the action, saying: "Couldn't exectute operation ro.sync.ecss.extensions.commons.operations.TransformOperation because ... cannot create Transformer: failed to compile stylesheet." Any ideas how to move forward? If the XSLTOperation is the way to go: is there an example in an existing framework that demonstrates how the operation is used? Thanks, Felix

Chapter Numbering feature request

One feature that would be nice would be an option to turn on the numbering for the chapters in the Dita maps manager. This would be especially useful for managing translated content since I generally can't read the chapter titles. Each time I have to count them from the top to find the one I am looking for. Displaying empty elements (or not)

Hi folks, oXygen supports the CSS3 selector :empty, so (for example) we can hide an element that has no content styled, in the Author View, for "preview", while showing it in an editing style. This is useful when, for example, editing documents whose schemas require elements in places where the user has no content for them. So if we have <sect><head/><p>Headless section</p></sect> we don't have to see anything where the empty 'head' element is, at least when oXygen Author is set to "No Tags". Unfortunately, however, since CSS isn't XPath, there's no way to suppress the 'sect' element, when we have <sect><head/></sect> (We can make the 'head' disappear but then we see a placeholder for the 'sect'.) I know the correct solution is not to deploy schemas that require elements that are not always used. But I wonder if anyone has a CSS workaround or an oXygen extension to suggest so that my oXygen XML Author preview can show something more like what the document will look like when it is formatted and the offending elements are dropped. Is there a way to select a map and apply an xml:lang across every file in that map to the main topic type tag? Thanks! feature request for syncing filesystem with webdav

Hi, we're using OxygenXML Enterprise for MarkLogic development, and it works really well (just wanted to say this). Here is a feature request of the "nice to have" category: Right now we're developing and running our Xquery modules from the filesystem. However, at some stage we want to run them from within a modules database. So we have to load them into the modules database probably using WebDAV or mlcp which is quite cumbersome. The temptation will be great to work directly in the modules database, via OxygenXML's WebDAV connectivity. If we did this we'd lose versioning via SVN as this requires the changes to be visible in the filesystem. If OxygenXML could watch a filesystem folder and sync it with a remote WebDAV resource (in the upload direction) whenever a change occurred, that would solve our conundrum. Until then we can of course use an external tool such as node.js + grunt.js (and its webdav-sync plugin [1]). While writing this, I'm wondering whether the "External Tools" in OxygenXML could provide a hook for grunt.js? Hi again, In reference to the same project with the embedded Hebrew text, I and my user (and his users) have a couple of thoughts on extending the Character Map functionality even a bit more: * Make the Character Map available as a (dockable) View, not only from a toolbar button * Allow filtering by Unicode block * Support a user- or project-defined set of favorite characters I know the chances that these can already be done (only I haven't figured out how) are not zero.... Bidirectional support

Hi, I am helping a user set up oXygen Author for use with Hebrew, in which I am regrettably illiterate. (But I know something about oXygen and CSS.) These documents are not entirely or primarily Hebrew; they only have occasional bits of Hebrew in paragraph or mixed content. The support for bidirectional text in oXygen is getting really impressive. But I have one request that I don't know how to address, and don't know if it's possible. The users would like to be able to see the locations of the Unicode control characters for right-to-left, left-to-right, and 'pop', if not actually to color the text between them. Since CSS doesn't support character-level controls (tmk) I don't believe this can be done. Am I right? If I am, does anyone have ideas for possible approaches or workarounds? My user is aware that (a) in bidirectional mode, oXygen indicates with its cursor when there is a change in direction, and (b) that more functionality is possible if his users are willing to use XML markup and not only the Unicode control characters. BTW, it looks to me as though oXygen automatically inserts the Unicode controls when I insert characters from the Hebrew Unicode block. Is this correct? Will it happen even when I'm in a place already configured (using CSS on an element) that right-to-left is the direction? Thanks!
