oxygen does not shutdown when Windows 7 shuts down

Hi On Windows 7, oXygen 13.2 (both Author and Editor), does not exit when Windows attempts to shut down or log out. I can hit cancel and then I can usually shut them down manually. However, sometimes Author is then in a state of having the main text window all gray, and not responding to input. On a separate note, but possibly related, yesterday I was working on a new "DITA Scenario", and had to start over. I updated some other software and had to reboot. I am pretty sure Author got into that gray text window state at the shutdown. Then, later in the morning I had trouble with builds. The value of ${cfd} passed to the builds was incorrect, Author was instead passing the Editor installation folder in "C:\Program Files". After a few minutes of this, I decided to restart Author. When it restarted, it had renamed the Project File to a name with "temp" in it, and was running without it. I used SVN update to get a working version of the Project File and recreated my new "DITA Scenario". Notes: Installed: Oxygen Editor 13.2, build 2012052412 I generally run both Editor and Author simultaneously (both from the Editor installation), editing XSLT and Ant code in Editor and testing it in Author. Also installed: oXygen 11.2 I use it with other another XML build that needs its own oXygen Framework. I think that's because its "topic" XML type conflicts with the one in DITA. Using: Windows 7, Version 6.1.7601 SP 1 Build 7601 Standalone version, not integrated with Eclipse. My normal logout practice has been to log out only on Fridays, and to close oXygen Author and Editor when I leave work at the end of the day, in case an update restarts Windows. Somewhat relevant tools - ones that hook into Windows Explorer right-click menu with more than "Open with me!": - Q-Dir to replace Windows Explorer. Pretty much eliminates restarting Windows Explorer when it crashes. - TortoiseSVN - TortoiseGIT Why don't software companies make the "version" field selectable and copy-able, in the About box or equivalent? That would be a minor feature request, trivial to do, but useful every time someone reports a bug. Microsoft should do it, not just oXygenXML. Link xslt output messages to xml document

Hi, I would like to have my xslt output messages being linked to a node of the processed xml document rather then to the xslt script - preferably even with a differentiation between warnings and errors. (The use-case is that my transformation scenario can detect several errors in the processed document that can hardly be covered by schema/schematron. So the author should be able to easily jump to the position in the document to fix it.) I already managed to create a custom validation by calling saxon and passing the xslt script as argument. oXygen and network schema fetches

I was just checking Apache logs for the past month on our web server and noticed that the highest bandwidth was coming from downloads of RELAX NG schemas that we store there. When creating and editing XML files with oXygen, we typically use shared HTTP locations for our schemas. A little bit of testing shows that when opening and editing an XML file, an RNG schema is fetched over the network many times, not just when it is first opened. It seems to fetch it when the file is first opened, then when content is first added (in order to determine the valid elements and attributes), and then other times later during the editing. Is there any way to configure oXygen so that a schema file is downloaded once during an editing session and used from cache after that? Space between tags

Hello Everyone, I have a couple of users having some strange problem accidentally clicking on a tag when they intend to click between the tags. I think it's from using a monitor with a higher resolution than they are used to. I showed them how to increase the font size, but I was curious if there is any way to configure the spacing between the tags? support for ant variable completion

Hello, years ago, I think, I was able to do automatic variable completion in ant files, ${basedir} and friends. I had the impression that this was possible in Oxygen (or was it Eclipes?). Today, this doesn't seem to work anymore, or is there a specific option to activate it? Oxygen seems to automatically recognise when I write a new build.xml file that it's an ant file. But variables aren't auto-completable and some element and attribute names are not valid according to Oxygen. I would guess that maybe the ant version distributed with Oxygen is not the latest one? How can I find out which version of ant is used, and how can I update it? Thanks, Jakob.

Smart pasting in Oxygen

xquery annotation highlighting

Hi, I noticed that currently (14.2) the highlighting of xquery annotations as introduced with 3.0 doesn't seem to work. we're using the xquery version "1.0-ml" (MarkLogic's flavour of xquery 1.0, with 3.0 features mixed in). the annotations look like this (taken from https://github.com/xquery/rxq) declare %rxq:GET %rxq:path('/address/id/(.*)') %rxq:produces('text/html') function addr:get-address($id){ .... }; what would need to be done to make annotations display correctly? cheers, Jakob.

How can I ignore invalid CSS?

I'd like to edit a website in oXygen. The website is based on Twitter Bootstrap. However, the CSS included with Bootstrap is invalid[1]. I just want to be able to add some paragraphs, headlines, images etc. to the HTML, nothing fancy, but since the CSS files doesn't validate, the Author mode doesn't display anything useful. Is it possible to ignore the CSS errors somehow and just display the HTML as if no CSS files were associated? [1] https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/issues/6398 Jostein

Unable to get DITA Docs to Validate: Can't Figure out Why Not

I'm helping a colleague set up an Oxygen environment. For reasons I can't determine, it is failing to resolve any DITA-related DTDs. I did find that the master frameworks catalog did not have a reference to the frameworks/dita/catalog.xml. I added that reference, verified that it was correct and that it eventually got me to the catalog-dita.xml catalog, but even after restarting Oxygen, it is still unable to validate any DITA documents. I compared the various catalog-related settings to my own environment and couldn't see any obvious differences. Any idea what I might have overlooked? It appears that when Oxygen was initially installed DITA was not selected as a framework, but all the DITA-related settings appear to otherwise be in place. Other than the entry in the master catalog, is there some other setting I might have overlooked? Live XSLT/XProc message output?

When running XProc scripts and/or XSLT transformations, the cx:message and xsl:message outputs appear only after the script/transformation is complete. I would like to view the messages while the script/transformation is running since they can take quite some time to run and the messages indicates the progress. Is it possible to enable some kind of "live message output mode"? Jostein

content completion not working for idref with XIncludes

I'm trying to create a set of modular documents using XInclude to assemble them (using a custom XSD). During editing, it is vital that IDREFs resolve to an ID value to ensure data integrity. To make that easier, I want Content Completion to work when inserting an attribute value of type IDREF. I have followed the directions in Oxygen Help to set this up. I am able to validate each module individually and the master file, regardless of where the id values reside, showing that the ID values are available during the validation step. But I cannot get the Content Completion to work for the IDREFs. When I enter an attribute of type IDREF and hit Ctrl-Space, there is no list, not even ID values from the current module. Details: Oxygen 14.2 Text mode Custom xsd schema using xs:ID and xs:IDREF attribute types. Enabled Master File Support for the project. Project set up with top-level file listed under Master Files in the Project view. Validation scenario created and assigned to all files has its "URL of the file to validate" set to the Master file. XML colors

I prefer a black background, so have changed my colors accordingly. Now, in my XML documents, things like '+' are black on black, and I can seem to find no way to change this. Is this a bug, or am I overlooking something?

Difference between incomplete and incorrect

I'm writing a book in DocBook. It is the first time I have used oXygen to write in a schema that I did not create myself, and I am therefore relying a lot more than I normally do on the cues that the editor gives me. One of those cues are the validation errors. The problem is, they are all signaled with RED. That makes sense if you have entered something illegal, but most of the time they appear because you have begun to create a complex structure and that structure is currently incomplete. From an author's point of view, that's not an error, I just haven't finished yet. Where oXygen can generate the whole structure, it does, so no error is shown, but there are many cases where it can't because what is required is one of one or more options. In these cases, the structured does not become legal until the author adds additional elements. The thing is, RED means stop, but the author, in this case should continue. RED means you did something wrong, but in these cases, the author simply hasn't finished yet. I find the editor is constantly slowing me down by throwing up these errors that I have to analyse each time to determine if I need to go on or if I need to back up. When I design a schema, I try to avoid creating these kinds of structures, for just this reason, but sometimes they cannot be avoided. My question is, is there a way, and do folks think it is desirable, to present a different cue for incomplete structures than for erroneous ones. At minimum, use a different color, such as yellow, for incomplete. Ideally, find some way to indicate that the author is on the right track and needs to continue. Thoughts? Mark

webhelp search not finding some words

We are testing the webhelp feature of Oxygen 14.2. Mostly it seems really good. The search feature seems great: fast, no server-side requirements, hightlighting, etc. But in quick testing we have found a few words that are in the content that don't turn up in search results: 'dashboard', 'account', 'define' and 'definition'. The words are in topics and generated index files seem to properly include the terms (index-1.js, htmlFileInfoList.js). Anyone know what could be going on? We are a little worried as we don't know how widespread the problem may be.

Hi, I have written some saxon extension functions which support XML Schema assertions. Is there any way to add the jar containing those functions such that I can test them in Oxygen? Thanks Peter Rushforth
