Oxygen 9.3 doesn't start after crash

Hello all, OS: Windows 7, Professional Oxygen: Oxygen 9.3, XML Editor Today I tried to save a file within the Oxygen editor. Meanwhile the editor crashed. I tried to start it again – no chance. I started my computer again and tried to start the editor anew – no chance! I uninstalled my Oxygen and reinstalled it – again no chance. The starting-window pops up for a short time and closes again. Every time I try to start the editor, I get the appended error-message. Could it be, that the shlwapi.dll has an error? Should I replace my existing dll with a new one? Hope, somebody can help me with my problem soon! Weird indentation in xs:annotation/xs:documentation

Hi, When indenting the content of an xs:documentation in an XML schema (using C-i), the indentation algorithm seems to treat the first line differently. configuring a custom calabash

I’m running oXygen 14.2 on Windows 7 64bit. I tried to configure a customized calabash. I knew that it was Windows because it was in German while my oXygen installation is in English. This will become important to overcome later because the custom Calabash needs to run on users’ computers. They don’t have admin privileges. So I ran oXygen as admin. Then it ran in principle, but the (command line?) options – input and output ports, the pipeline, and options – that I configured in the transformation scenario apparently weren’t passed to the script. The output was only the usage information of my custom calabash. In the help I read an entry called “Integration of an External XProc Engine”. I don’t know whether that is relevant to my problem. Do I really have to implement ro.sync.xml.transformer.xproc.api.XProcTransformerInterface myself? What’s the purpose of being able to configure an external script / Java invocation as XProc engine? When I think about configuring an engine.xml file for my purposes, I’m unsure how to map Calabash’s -c option, where I specify an option to use our configuration file that maps a step name to a class that implements an extension. XML Schema documentation

Hi, When using the action "Tools > Generate Documentation > XML Schema Documentation", what is supposed to be in xs:documentation? If I put any element in there (e.g. in HTML or DocBook namespace), they are included verbatim within the PDF output (I mean, the tags themselves show up in the PDF). Does it support only text? Question about Author content-completion behavior

Hello, Editing some Docbook documents lately, I spot a content-completion behavior I would like to discuss with you. Let's take for example a Docbook article that has some sect1 and sect2 inner sections. If I start adding some content (using para) inside sect1 and after that I decided to enter a new sect2 after the first para, as below: <sect1> <para/> -*- <para/> </sect1> at point *, the Author content-completion will not show the sect2 proposal because if such element is introduced it will trigger a validation error (para is not a valid element after a sect2). Do you think is reasonable to hide such elements from content completion at that point because it will then trigger a validation error or it is better to show such element (and possible allow it to be introduced) even if it will trigger a validation error for the next para element? Another example is a sect1 that (according to schema) can only have one title element <sect1> -*- <title/> Should Oxygen content-completion show title proposal at point * or not? The current approach is to hide such proposals in Author view if the Author/Schema Aware Editing option is on. However, I would like to enable both MathML equation editing, either using the simple built-in editor or, ideally, the DesignScience graphical editor. I'd also like to be able to cut and paste from Word and Excel the way I can in the standalone editor. What's involved in doing this? What is "When this XPath expression is true" action parameter relative to?

What is the "When this XPath expression is true" parameter of an action definition evaluated relative to? The docs just say "an XPath expression that applies to elements and attributes;" but they don't say what the current element is at the time the xpath is evaluated. My reason for asking is this: I want to create a button to add an element to a document. But since this element is only allowed once inside its parent element, I would like the button to either disappear or be disabled if the parent element already contains the element that the button inserts. Ideally, I would like to do this using the stylesheet to remove the button when the child element already exists, but CSS does not provide a selector for an element that contains (or does not contain) another element, so there does not seem to be a way to do that. (Enhancement request for an Oxygen CSS extension for this purpose) So since that does not work, my next approach is to invalidate the button if the child element already exists. To do this, I think I would need the "When this XPath expression is true" parameter to be evaluated relative to the path specified in the "insertLocation" parameter, but that does not seem to be how it works. So, what is the current element when "When this XPath expression is true" parameter is evaluated. And, more generally, can anyone think of a way to do what I am trying to do here? Thanks, Mark

oh where oh where has my oXygen gone?

Oh where, oh where has my oXygen gone? Oh where, oh where can it be? I put fourteen point two on Ubuntu, And now it's hidden from me. I had oXygen 14.1 installed on both my Ubuntu 12.04 machines (work & home). On both machines, the way I launch oXygen is to tap the SUPER key to bring up the dash, and then type "oxy". The applications that show up are Oxygen XML Editor, Oxygen XML Author, and Oxygen XML Developer.[1] This morning I downloaded the new oxygen-64bit.sh and ran it under `sudo` on the work machine. I installed in the default location, deleting the previous version. I then tapped the SUPER key to bring up the dash, typed "oxy" ... and no applications showed up. I notice that there 9 .desktop files in my 14.1 installation at home, and none in my 14.2 installation at work. I looked at one of the .desktop files, and I am pretty sure this is the problem. 1) Did I do something wrong during installation so that the .desktop files were not installed? 2) Anyone else suffer this? 3) Noting that these 9 files, and the change of several file names from 14.1 to 14.2, are the only differences in the list of files in the main /opt/Oxygen XML Editor 14/ directories, can I just copy the 14.1 .desktop file to the 14.2 installation, changing all occurrences of "14.1" to "14.2" as I go? 4) While I'm at it, on my home machine the oXygen icon does not appear in the application-switcher bar that pops up when I press ALT-tab. (Instead I get a generic grey box with a question mark.) It does show up in the launcher. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any answers, and as always thanks for a great program. Notes ----- [1] I never use the latter two, and would be happy to get rid of them.

Maintaining slightly variant standard frameworks

I'm working on integrating the Oxygen applet with RSuite specifically for DITA use. Thus I want to use the out-of-the-box DITA framework but I need to modify it slightly to add RSuite-specific handlers for actions that select things (xrefs, conrefs, images, etc.) What is the best way to manage this sort of small change to an Oxygen-supplied framework so as to avoid maintaining (and keeping up to date) a fully copy of the framework? Improve Web Service support in <oXygen/>

For the the next version we plan to improve the WSDL editing support: * we want to add a specialized Outliner for WSDL files. This Outline will present specific WSDL components such as: types, messages, services, port types, bindings, services; * for the content completion assistant we want to also present component references. For example if you invoke content completion on wsdl:input/@message('message' attribute of the 'input' element) all defined messages will be proposed; * improve WSDL documentation tool. tokenization problem

Hi, We want to tokenize natural language into xml. Each word and each punctuation mark needs to be put into an attribute of an xml element. But doing this, oXygen reports an error "not closing an xml tag". When I checked the output it seemded oXygen transforms " into a literal " and (even) " seems to be transformed that way. Is there a way to prevent oXygen from behaving this way? Follow Up: Automatically add @type when a topicref is added to a DITA map (Oxygen XML Editor Support)

Hello: I've followed the thread about having the "type" attribute automatically populated by oXygen when a topicref is added - to include the discussions on whether it is the right thing to do from a theory perspective, how to check after the fact, and so on. My situation: - I have writers that are not full-time writers. They would like "type", "scope", and "format" to be auto-populated when they add a topicref or href. - If we don't add these, our transform process reports it as a warning or error. We are not allowed any warnings or errors in the transform log. - We have no control over the transform process. We have to use the tool as-is. Which leads me back to the original question: Can we set up oXygen such that when a topicref or href is added, we can get these attributes to auto-populate? If not now, is it a feature request? I half-expected it to be under Preferences >> Content Completion. Feature Request: Create Multiple Conrefs With One Selection

In my training development mentioned earlier, I'm making all my prerequisites and objectives reusable and then constructing all such lists in modules via conref. This requires a separate conref for each individual list item or lcObjective. The conkeyref creation dialog is easy enough to use, but it only lets me create one reference at a time (I'm not doing range references). It would be much more convenient if there was some way that I could select multiple targets and have it create an individual conref to each one. Not sure how you'd do that and make a clear distinction between creating a range reference and multiple single references, but it would be very convenient if it was possible. Very minor complaint: @format set on maprefs when defaulted by topicref

When you create a topicref to a map using the "Create reference" facility in the Map Manager, the dialog automatically sets the @format value to "ditamap", which is, of course, required if you're using a generic topicref. However, if you then replace the generic topicref type with any form of map reference (e.g., <mapref>), the @format value continues to be set and will be set in the instance, even though it's now redundant with the default value set by the topicref element. It would be ideal if the system could detect that @format has the appropriate default value and unset the selection in the dialog so that unnecessary attributes are not set in the map. Map Managed Icons for Map References

I'm going through the exercise of creating training materials. I'm using submaps to organize sessions and modules so I'm creating maps with lots of map references. One thing I'm noticing is that the icon for a map reference is the same as the icon for the map, which leads to kind of odd results in the map manager. I know that all the components have to be reflected in the tree: the map reference, the referenced map, and the map's child topicrefs, so there's no getting around what, conceptually, are redundant levels in the tree (relative to what will actually show up in the final table of contents). However, I think it might be clearer in the map manager if the map reference icon was distinguished from the map icon. Part of the oddness of the map manager view is that the when the submap has a title, which all of mine do, then the map reference node and the map node both reflect the same title, so you get: mapref: -> Module: My Module Title map: ---> Module: My Module Title Topicref------> My Module Title Where the title of the first topicref is often the same as or very similar to the map title (in my case, I'm using e.g. "Module: " in the map title for module maps but not in the title for the actual module root topic, so the map title and root topicref title differ only by "Module: ").
