Saving a document in EMC's xDB

Hi, I have configured a Data Source for xDB (from EMC, version 10.0.0) and added the following 4 JARs from the xDB lib/ dir, as stated in the oXygen documentation: xhive.jar antlr-runtime.jar icu4j.jar google-collect.jar I created a new connection and I can browse the xDB libaries and open XML documents. If I modify a document and try to save it, I receive an error dialog box saying: "DTD factory class org.apache.xerces.impl.dv.dtd.DTDDVFactoryImpl does not extend from DTDDVFactory." Nice Performance from Find/Replace Across 34, 000 Files

I just had cause to do a global search and replace across about 34,000 files. On my Mac (beefy MacBookPro) it took about 30 seconds max to make the changes, which seems pretty fast to me. Was expecting it to take a good bit longer. Content completion and restricted IDs

If I have an id attribute that is of type my_type, and my_type is an xs:simpleType restriction of xs:ID and a "xxx_[0-9_]+" pattern, should I expect to see content completion work? I have it turned on, but it doesn't seem to know what to offer as completions. It would be nice to see a list of all id values of type my_type. Michael

AXF extension error

We are getting the following error when trying to Validate an fo file in Oxygen 11: E [Xerces] cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'axf:document-info'. One of '{"http://www.renderx.com/XSL/Extensions":meta-info, "http://www.renderx.com/XSL/Extensions":page-device, "http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format":layout-master-set}' is expected. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <fo:root xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format" xmlns:axf="http://www.antennahouse.com/names/XSL/Extensions" font-family="Arial"> <axf:document-info name="title" value="mytitle"/> ... </fo:root> It doesn't affect the final PDF output, but it would be nice to be able to validate. Hiding xml comments in Author mode

How do you prevent the displaying of xml comments in Author mode? For example, . In the CSS you can set to hide the tag display for a comment, but you cannot hide the content of a comment. Both "comment { display: none; }" or "oxy|comment { display: none; }" are not working. Hi all, I have in the past been able to access external XML documents using Schematron external validation. I set my proxy, username and password in the Options => Preferences. I now can't access the external XML documents when I validate using Schematron external validation. How does Oxygen Validate XSDs?

I have an XSD that Oxygen validates fine but my own Xerces-based validator chokes on. Since the client asserts that the schema is valid, I want to understand why I'm seeing a difference in validation results when I would have expected them to be the same. Is my understanding correct that Oxygen uses Saxon EE to do schema validation rather than Xerces? Thanks for the advice. The error occured just by opening the Find/Replace in Files dialog. I tried clearing the configuration directory and that worked! Problems with Find/Replace in Files

I am seeing a new problem in oXygen Editor, although I have been using the software for several weeks now and this problem did not arise until I cam close to the deadline for my deliverable :/ It only appears when I try to open the Find/Replace in Files dialog. I depend heavily on Find/Replace in Files, so this error has stopped me in my tracks. See error message below. I tried re-installing oXygen, and also uninstalled some other programs on the chance that they were causing the problem, but so far no luck. Has anyone else run into this problem and, I hope, found a solutions? I am on Windows XP, with <oXygen/> XML Editor 12.1, build 2011031114 The application detected an error that is not automatically handled. It is possible that this error is not critical and the application may continue to work normally but our recommendation is to report the error and restart the application. If the application has become unstable and cannot be closed normally, you can use the Force Quit button from this dialog. Be aware that by doing this you will lose all unsaved changes in the opened documents. Hi, On this box, I have a transformation scenario configured with the XSL URL on a shared network drive and the XML URL on my local file system; when I transform, the stylesheet calls xsl:result-document to output many new documents, and the output is created in the same working directory as the _XSL_ URL. However, on another box, using an almost identical setup (Oxygen 12.0, OS X 10.6.6, Java 1.6.0_24, Saxon-PE 9.1.2.1), the output is created in the same working directory as the _XML_ URL. I don't see a way in the GUI to configure this--it would be awesome if the Output tab would allow me to specify the output destination (currently if I choose "Prompt for file", it will only work for the _first_ file handled by xsl:result-document). Can you assist, or may I submit a request for future enhancement? save to URL give 405 not allowed

I have some schema posted on my (bluehost) website under public_html. If I try to use oxygen to edit these files directly, I can open them, and make changes in the GUI, but then when I click Save (or Save to URL) I get the Error 405 not allowed. It could be something about the way the host server is set up, which I have little control over. But I have been able to directly edit files on this website from other programs (in particular PSPad). My current workaround is to maintain a local copy and upload using Filezilla. Any suggestions? Tara

Expand the comparison window

Sorry for asking what I am sure is a dumb question: in the svn client, is there a way of unpinning the comparison window or making it full screen? In Linux Gnome, at any rate, it seems to bump into stops that prevent it expanding and I don't see any way of making it bigger. I thought there used to be an unpinning button or similar? -dan

[BUG] line-length

I am working with SVG images, and XSLT. When i open an SVG, the editor tells me that the file contains long lines that may impact performance, and when it opens the file, it wraps the lines. This is a defect. I do not want the lines wrapped, and have Line Wrap disabled in preferences. As an aside, what does the length of th line have to do with oXygen and its performance? Thanks.

JDBC SqlServer Help

I am trying to connect to an instance of SqlServer 2008 R2 on my local system. They connection fails with: names instance XXXXXXXXX has failed. Error: java.netSocketTimeoutException...... In researching this, I am discovering that I might need to get Sql Browser service to run (which is proving to be difficult). Is this a necessary step? Is it this difficult? I'm attempting to generate a schema from an existing database structure. Karl..

Detecting the oXygen license type

We wish to provide an oXygen plugin whose licensing mirrors that of the oXygen license types. Therefore, it would be useful if our plugin could discover which of the oXygen license types it host was using; this license type could then be checked for consistency with the plugin's license. Turning off cache?

I am working on a Relax NG schema which will be converted automatically to XSD and documentation generated in oXygen. During development I am constantly modifying the Relax NG, validating and then performing the conversion to XSD and generating the documentation to see how it looks. I find that the validation and other steps are frequently behind regarding the modifications of modules, presumably because there is some caching going on. It's a royal pain - I have to delete the old xsd and documentation to get it to clear the cache ( I have tried selecting "clear cache and validate" on the main module, but it doesn't do the trick). Is there anyway to just turn off the caching? I have looked through the preferences menu, but I can't find this option. Thanks, Tara

Plugin testing.

Our plugin is now nearing 'feature' completion, and I am in the process of automating the manual testing. This is reasonably straightforward for those aspects of the plugin that are independent of the oXygen API, as these can be run through our TestNG framework. I was wondering if anybody had some suggestions for how to automate tests involving the use of the oXygen API (and GUI components). For example is there a mechanism to simulate the selection of windows, menu items, button presses, etc in oXygen, that could be provided as an argument to a command-line invocation? Any suggestions welcome. Feedback on experimental plugin features.

I have now made use of four of the experimental oXygen plugin workspace API options (on a Mac running OS X - Snow Leopard) : (1) getOptionsStorage - This has a straightforaward interface, which worked as expected. (2) createNewEditor - This was slightly more awkward to use in our plugin's context (more details below). (3) getEntityResolver - Works as expected (thanks). (4) getURIResolver - Appears to works as expected (but currently, not tested). I have managed to get the 'createNewEditor' API call to create a fresh document that is considered to be modified, using the following code: Writer writer = new StringWriter(); ... // Write to the string. ... URL url= workspace.createNewEditor("xml", "text/xml", writer.toString()); WSEditor ed=workspace.getEditorAccess(url, StandalonePluginWorkspace.MAIN_EDITING_AREA); ed.setModified(true); Observations: (1) This approach may be problematic for big documents, as the whole document is stored in a string. (2) The created document is not marked as modified. There are at least two ways of addressing the first of these points. One approach is to create a small blank document that is then overridden using the WSEditod's realoadContent(Reader). Here, the question I had was: what is the minimal XML document that can be overridden (and get the right document type association - e.g. DITA)? It might be that oXygen could automatically create such a document from the first two arguments of the createNewEditor method. A second approach could be to replace the third argument of the createNewEditor method with a java.io.Reader argument, such as is used when reloading a document into an existing WSEditor (editor.reloadContent(reader)). Overall, I am pleased with these experimental enhancements. Cli guide using DITA

Hi, I am writing a cli guide using dita and oxygen. When I generate the pdf of the cli guide, I see that: 1. Contents for the cli book are not generated. The cli guide has only bookmarks. 2. The cli page is flushed right leaving a large vertical empty column on the right of each page. From the looks I understand that this is part of the rendering style for a cli guide. But is there a way to change this? Because my content is overflowing to the right and some part of it is not even visible. Can some one help? Thanks in advance. Surya.

Grid/Author/Design tabs gray

Oxygen 12.1 I'm re-animating my use of Oxygen and want to use the Design mode for XML and Schemas. I cant figure out how to turn them on ! When I load an XML or an XSD file it shows in "Text" mode, and the tabs at the bottom "Grid" , "Design" , "Author" stay gray. Shortcut key expand all children
