Hi Karl, I understand the use case, indeed it seems useful sometimes to switch between learning the XML and using the associated schema. It seems that older versions of Oxygen behaved like you suggested so somehow the behavior was lost in the newest versions. I added an issue to our issues list and we'll investigate. When composing an xml document that has a schema definition associated I get the nice intellisense and auto completion, however if I CTRL+L "learn" the document I am stuck; I do not know how to back to the schema association. I just updated my oXygen 12.1 (I can get you the Build # if you need it) to 12.2 build 2011051714. One of the first things I noticed is that indent-on-paste no longer seems to work. Is that an intentional feature, a problem, or something I now need to set? (I note that "Indent on paste - sections with number of lines less than 300" is checked in the Editor / Format / XML preferences pane, as I believe it always has been for me.) I need my paste-on-indent. I'm already going through withdrawal. I hope I don't have to revert. (BTW, having "format and indent" apply to only the selected text would be even better.) As always, thanks for a great product.

Table rules for empty cells

Is there a simple way to force a table to actually generate rules around all cells when generating html from docbook? <table rules="all"> is not doing it. Right now, I'm having to insert non-breaking spaces to force empty cells to get rules, which means I have a lot of lines like this: <td> </td> in a sparse table. This is okay - easily generated with global replace - but a but of a nuisance. PDFs generated from the same source are ruled correctly, but the HTML is not, unless the &nbsp is inserted. Or, for a workaround, is it possible to add a non-breaking space to the "insert from character map" options in a future version? (speaking of the character map, it would be really nice if the non-printing characters were labelled - I can usually remember that U+000D is a CR, but the others I have to look up) Cheers, -Jon Kiparsky

Convenient insertion of XInclude from project view

Hi, I was looking for user friendly ways of inserting xi:include into document opened in Author view. I have realized that closest functionality to this is dragging file from project view to Author view. For some document types (e.g. DocBook) this includes <link> element pointing to this file. I can't imagine use of such <link> elements. Wouldn't it be better to insert xi:include instead? Maybe this could be improvement for future versions. Am I right that in order to modify this behavior I have to make my own implementation ro.sync.ecss.extensions.docbook.Docbook5ExternalObjectInsertionHandler class? Ignore '.svn' directory and contents when validating?

I have a directory containing a mixture of XML and non-XML files, e.g., some '.txt' files. (BTW, since this is a client's data, I have no control over what's in the directory.) The directory is checked into Subversion, so there's also a '.svn' subdirectory that contains several Subversion-specific files plus a '.svn-base' for each checked-in file. The directory has been added an oXygen project as a folder. When I right-click on the folder in the oXygen project and select 'Validate > Validate', oXygen attempts to validate every file in the directory and its '.svn' subdirectory. I can make oXygen ignore the files in the '.svn' subdirectory by adding '*.svn-base', 'entries', and 'all-wcprops' to the list of 'binary' file types in the 'File Types' preferences panel. Adding just '.svn' had no effect. Is there a way to get oXygen to not try to validate the '.svn' subdirectory other than by explicitly ignoring every possible file and file type under '.svn'? Is there a way to get oXygen to not try to validate '.txt' files? After all, the 'txt' extension is mapped to the 'Text Editor' in oXygen, not to the 'XML Editor'. Regards, Tony Graham. Mentea

It should be possible to specify Saxon configuration file for validation scenario

Hi, I have complex set of stylesheets which use custom Saxon extension. I can validate main stylesheet as I can specify Saxon configuration file (-config) which defines extension. However when I'm editing imported stylesheet and I specify custom validation scenario I can't specify Saxon configuration file here (I can choose only XSLT processor and extensions) and extension is thus not loaded and I got validation error on each use of extension function or instruction. Would it be possible to fix this omission? Was expecting it to take a good bit longer. Content completion and restricted IDs

If I have an id attribute that is of type my_type, and my_type is an xs:simpleType restriction of xs:ID and a "xxx_[0-9_]+" pattern, should I expect to see content completion work? I have it turned on, but it doesn't seem to know what to offer as completions. It would be nice to see a list of all id values of type my_type. Michael

Hiding xml comments in Author mode

How do you prevent the displaying of xml comments in Author mode? For example, . In the CSS you can set to hide the tag display for a comment, but you cannot hide the content of a comment. Both "comment { display: none; }" or "oxy|comment { display: none; }" are not working. Hi all, I have in the past been able to access external XML documents using Schematron external validation. I set my proxy, username and password in the Options => Preferences. I now can't access the external XML documents when I validate using Schematron external validation. How does Oxygen Validate XSDs?

I have an XSD that Oxygen validates fine but my own Xerces-based validator chokes on. Since the client asserts that the schema is valid, I want to understand why I'm seeing a difference in validation results when I would have expected them to be the same. Is my understanding correct that Oxygen uses Saxon EE to do schema validation rather than Xerces? Thanks for the advice. The error occured just by opening the Find/Replace in Files dialog. I tried clearing the configuration directory and that worked! I am seeing a new problem in oXygen Editor, although I have been using the software for several weeks now and this problem did not arise until I cam close to the deadline for my deliverable :/ It only appears when I try to open the Find/Replace in Files dialog. I depend heavily on Find/Replace in Files, so this error has stopped me in my tracks. See error message below. I tried re-installing oXygen, and also uninstalled some other programs on the chance that they were causing the problem, but so far no luck. Has anyone else run into this problem and, I hope, found a solutions? I am on Windows XP, with <oXygen/> XML Editor 12.1, build 2011031114 The application detected an error that is not automatically handled. It is possible that this error is not critical and the application may continue to work normally but our recommendation is to report the error and restart the application. If the application has become unstable and cannot be closed normally, you can use the Force Quit button from this dialog. Transformation output

Hi, On this box, I have a transformation scenario configured with the XSL URL on a shared network drive and the XML URL on my local file system; when I transform, the stylesheet calls xsl:result-document to output many new documents, and the output is created in the same working directory as the _XSL_ URL. However, on another box, using an almost identical setup (Oxygen 12.0, OS X 10.6.6, Java 1.6.0_24, Saxon-PE 9.1.2.1), the output is created in the same working directory as the _XML_ URL. I don't see a way in the GUI to configure this--it would be awesome if the Output tab would allow me to specify the output destination (currently if I choose "Prompt for file", it will only work for the _first_ file handled by xsl:result-document). Can you assist, or may I submit a request for future enhancement? save to URL give 405 not allowed

I have some schema posted on my (bluehost) website under public_html. If I try to use oxygen to edit these files directly, I can open them, and make changes in the GUI, but then when I click Save (or Save to URL) I get the Error 405 not allowed. It could be something about the way the host server is set up, which I have little control over. But I have been able to directly edit files on this website from other programs (in particular PSPad). My current workaround is to maintain a local copy and upload using Filezilla. Any suggestions? Tara
