Some time ago, I wrote mentioning that my java scripts would not run in <oXygen/> XML Editor 11.2, build 2010031611 and was given the workaround to save my script tags in two rather than one tag: <script src=....></script> as opposed to <script src=.../>. I was told this was a regressive bug and would be fixed. At the same time, I was given an URL to check for bug fixes. Unfortunately, my email files have been destroyed and I no longer have that reference. Has this bug been fixed? If so, where can I download it? Thanks, Mark

Hi! I've purchased oXygen a year ago but only now I have motivation to try to use it. However when I start to do something nontrivial, it becomes unusable. To be more specific, after reaching the point shown on the screen shot, it stops to react and even refreshing the window takes ages (as visible on the screen shot). How to place log file in consistent directory?

Oxygen-heads: I have a log4j.properties file for testing a plugin that integrates Oxygen and RSuite. I am currently using Mac OS X. log4j.appender.R.File=oxygen-rsuite-plugin.log If I use oxygenMac.sh from the command-line, the oxygen-rsuite-plugin.log file shows up in the current directory where I run the command. If I launch Oxygen from the "open" command on Mac OS X (from an applet in FireFox), then the current working directory is in some random place (that I cannot find). Log4j permits variable substitution in the log4j.properties, from system properties. Are there sysem properties set by Oxygen for the installation directory or some other place where I can locate the log file so it will be in a consistent place? I would like to be able to specify something like this in the log4j.properties file: log4j.appender.R.File=${oxygen.home}/oxygen-rsuite-plugin.log Thanks, Michael Roberts

DITA Map Manager

Is there a trick to getting the titles resolved in the DITA Map Manager? The samples provided with Oxygen resolve the titles in the subdocuments, however I haven't been able to titles resolved in my Ditamap. The documents are still able to be opened when I click on the map link but only the href is displaying the Dita Map Viewer. TIA! schemaLocation stil required?

In the past versions of the Oxygen Schema editor, an import statement would not work unless a schema association was configured. The W3C guidelines on import statements, though, states that schemaLocation is optional. Presumably, it would be optional if the import uri is the same as the schemaLocation, which is the case in my situation. However, oxygen fails to import without a schemaLocation attribute. 11.2 XPath box in Find/Replace stuck?

Hi there, using oXygen 11.2, build 2010031611 on Mac OS X in text mode, I'm unable to activate the XPath constraint box in the Find/Replace dialogue (it seems to invariably stay grayed out). Modifying the dita2htmlImpl.xsl file

I realize I'm probably asking for someone to explain the equivalent of string theory to a high school freshman, but I'm struggling to understand how to modify the dita2htmlImpl.xsl file so that the transformed files I get from Oxygen tag the <task> and <concept> entries in my <composite> files are tagged as "H2" headings and not "H3" headings. I realize that I can use <section> tags to mark sections as subordinate, but the <composite> type doesn't seem to support <section> tags where I need them. Conceptually it would be like this: <section> <title>Major Concept</title> <concept id="concept1" conref="concept1.dita#concept"> <conbody/> </concept> </section> <section> <title>Major Task</title> <task id="task1" conref="task1.dita#task"> <taskbody/> </task> </section> but of course this doesn't work. Also, I would end up getting the Title from the Section as well as the Task or Concept. So, do I somehow munge the dita2htmlImpl.xsl file to somehow make Tasks and Concepts "H2" entries, or can I somehow get the idea of a subordinate Concept or Task into a Topic/Composite Topic DITA file?

This may be a FAQ, in which case I apologize, please point me in the right direction. Situation: While I like to think of myself as technically reasonably savvy, I know absolutely nothing about Java, JREs, JDEs, JVMs, or other TLAs that start with J. (I've never even watched _JAG_ :-) I'm trying to install oXygen onto an Ubuntu 9.10 system. I downloaded the "Linux 64 bit (Includes Java VM 1.6.0_16)" .sh file from http://www.oxygenxml.com/download_oxygenxml_editor.html. The instructions say "Make sure you have in your PATH environment variable the correct location of the JRE." How do I know the location of the JRE? MarkLogic's CQ integration

Hi, The developers I worked with on projects using MarkLogic were most of the time using MarkLogic's CQ web interface. Sometimes even though they had an oXygen licence. I think the main reason why it's because CQ automatically saves the session on the server so there is no need to save any file and the session is always available to the developer, regardless the machine he/she is actually using. So the idea: it would be very useful I think to have a similar mechanism in oXygen, to save a buffer automatically onto the ML instance each time this buffer is evaluated. Maybe even using directly the own CQ's sessions in order to integrate smoothly and collaborate easily with people using CQ on the same project. Just an idea... Warning message in Results window

In Oxygen 11.2 and previous versions, the Results window lists this commonly repeated warning: The HTML tag "?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?" is not a valid HTML tag (it does not begin with an alphanumeric character). Each of the DITA templates provided in Oxygen includes this standard notation at the top of the xml file: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> Is there some action you recommend to eliminate this error, such as removing this tag at the top of the xml files? Hello, From our tests the XPath field is disabled in the Find/Replace dialog only if the file size is larger than the minimum limit set in the option "Optimize loading ..." at the moment of opening the file in Text editing mode. If you increase the value of the minimum limit option above the file size *after* opening the file you have to reopen the file in order to disable the large file support for that file which will re-enable the XPath field. If the value of the option is larger than the file size when you open the file in Text editing mode *and* the XML file is well-formed the XPath field is enabled. This is the behavior that I get on Mac and Windows in both the current build (the Download page of the website) and the build 2010031611. If the value of the option is larger than the file size please attach a zip archive with a sample file for reproducing the problem. validation problem for CODE element in docbook 5?

Hi, I'm creating a docbook 5 document in the latest Oxygen, and got a strange validation error. Hi Mark, I'm forwarding the solution to the users list, maybe some other people might find it useful. The problem is that by default pretty print in Oxygen collapses empty tags so that: <script type="text/JavaScript" xml:space="preserve" src="http://test/test.js"></script> becomes: <script type="text/JavaScript" xml:space="preserve" src="http://test/test.js"/> of course the 2 versions are XML equivalent but the browser wants only the first notation. So in the Oxygen Preferences->"Editor / Format / XML" page you can check the checkbox "Expand empty elements" to avoid problems like this when working with XHTML. Format disables JQuery script

I have an XHTML page constructed in Oxygen 11.2. It contains a JavaScript that works until I click the "Format and Indent" menu icon. After I do that, the script no longer works. Note: the script does not appear to change - all of the changes occur within the body of the HTML. Is this normal? I can send you the HTML page with the css files if that would help. Mark

Self-completing elements

When I am entering elements into an XML or XSD file, the closing tag appears automatically, but that does not happen when I am working with HTML or XHTML. Is there a preferences setting to turn this on? I am using version 11.2 and it seems to me that earlier versions did the self-completion for HTML. Thanks, Mark

customizing doc type associations in AUTHOR? (Win 7 permissions)

Hi, I am in XML Author in Win 7 and am trying to change some default settings when editing docbook. I don't like the fact that by default author will open up docbook files in Author view. I prefer for it to open in text/code view. I am using lots of xincludes, so if I open up the main index.xml, author will attempt to tie all the files together (it will also spit an error message if parts are not valid). That can be time-consuming. I see that when editing Document Type associations (DTA), you have the option to change default code view. That would seem to be the answer. But wait! 1)Oxygen is pushing me to create a duplicate DTA for docbook5 instead of editing the original DTA. This sounds logical, but really I have no idea what this means to work with a duplicated DTA. Does this mean there are now 2 DTAs pointing to Docbook instead of 1? How does Oxygen know which settings to use? Do I need to specify this in my project? How do I do this? Will I need to do this every time? 2)The other option is to change my role from Content Author to Developer. Developer seems to have edit power over DTA options. Assuming that I change my role to developer, when I change the view to Text view, it gives me this error: You have no write permissions to the store location of this document type:C:\Program Files (x86)\Oxygen XML Author 11\frameworks\docbook\docbook5.framework Now I have noticed two problems with trying to edit the original DTAs. 1)they get erased every time you upgrade. (This happens when I add something to the catalog file in that Oxygen directory too). 2)I have windows permission problems every time. On my Vista box, I would edit the Security settings for the docbook directory to allow full control; only doing this would allow Oxygen to make this change successfully. On my Win 7 box, this doesn't seem to be working. It seems to me that the Oxygen configuration options should only change things which Oxygen editor has the permissions to change. Relying on the user to figure out which security scheme to use seems unwise. Or I am totally doing this the wrong way? Thanks for your help. -- Robert Nagle

Hi, I'm having trouble using the oXygen debugger with a sequence of nested xincludes. Per-project XML database collections?

It seems that connections to XML databases are saved as part of the overall <oXygen/> configuration. I would prefer if connections could also be project-specific since: - Multiple people work on the project, and it would be simpler if everybody didn't have to setup the connection individually. - The project already includes xcc.jar, so it would be simpler if <oXygen/> could locate the jar relative to the project file (since different people will have the project at different locations on their machines). - This particular database connection is only relevant to one project. Oxygen 10 UI question

I somehow turned off the 2nd row of menu icons in the DITA Maps perspective/view window (the left-side window that shows the DITA Map hierarchically). I don't know how I did it, but I can't turn it back on. The DITA Maps window is open, and I can use the top row of icons. Missing schema in XMLSpec catalog?

Hi, In 11.2RC (but that was the same in 11.1) the catalog for XMLSpec <frameworks/xmlspec/catalog.xml> contains the following mappings for the schemas: <systemSuffix systemIdSuffix="xmlspec.dtd" uri="schema/xmlspec.dtd"/> <systemSuffix systemIdSuffix="xmlspec.xsd" uri="schema/xmlspec.xsd"/> <systemSuffix systemIdSuffix="xmlspec.rng" uri="schema/xmlspec.rng"/> but not fior the RELAX NG Compact form syntax: <systemSuffix systemIdSuffix="xmlspec.rnc" uri="schema/xmlspec.rnc"/> Is it on purpose or a bug?
