Automatic Update to Catalog List?

I have development projects that use catalogs to map unresolvable URLs for XSLT components to local locations. I of course add those catalogs manually. It occurs to me that it would be useful for other developers on these projects if I could automate the addition of the catalogs to Oxygen (e.g., via an Ant task). Is there an easy way to do this? Ok, the problem turned out to be unrelated to oxygen or docbook. I was using Firefox's firebug plugin to examine the code and css. I didn't realize that the html source shown by Firebug does not correspond exactly to the actual source. In this case, the code I copied came from the firebug debug window. docbook + xincludes + xref? removing xmlns:saxon attributes in output?

Hi, I have two problems with my chunked HTML output on a docbook 5 project. PROBLEM 1 If your project uses xincludes with docbook, is Oxygen supposed to validate the xref links? I just tried my first xref link and am getting validation errors for xml files containing xrefs even though the XSL for html chunking/epub chunking runs fine. (i.e., I can see the hyperlink in the html output). Only Oxgen gives a validation error. In er1.xml (which is a chapter) I have this line <para> See also <xref linkend="interlude1"/></para> In i1.xml (which is a chapter) , I have this <chapter xmlns="http://docbook.org/ns/docbook" version="5.0" xml:id="interlude1"> <title>Interlude Essay 1 <author> <personname>Robert Nagle</personname> </author> </title> <para> ..... </chapter> SystemID: I:\My Documents\xml\rj3\er1.xml Engine name: oNVDL Severity: error Description: IDREF "interlude1" without matching ID Start location: 253:49 PROBLEM 2. I'm trying to figure out why the html output for chunked html files looks like this (see below). First, why is there a reference to saxon here? How do I turn this off? (Does Oxygen or docbook use some parameter that is causing this to appear? Speaking of help... I downloaded and installed 10.3 on my WinXP Pro machine the other day and discovered that the formatting in the online help files has gone, well, wild... Really big fonts of random sizes everywhere. Unfortunately, even though I'm one to boost fonts, these fonts are way too big to do any onscreen reading. Is this a glitch or a known problem? Problem with Oxygen creating html help

Hello! A college is having some issues in creating chm files from oxygen with using the DITA Scenarios. He's running oXygen 10.3 on Windows Vista Ultimate. When creating a scenario and converting, it fails on not finding the hhc.exe file in "C:\Program Files\Help Workshop\hhc.exe". This is completely correct, as hhc is located in "C:\Program Files\HTML Help Workshop\hhc.exe". The wrong path is automatically included by oXygen when running a dita transformation if the transtype is set to htmlhelp. The end of the call to dita-ot contains "-DHTMLHelpCompiler=C:\Program Files\Help Workshop\hhc.exe". DITA-OT throws an error message that it's not possible to reassign an already set property. hhc.dir is correctly set but HTMLHelpCompiler is overridden by the parameter from oxygen. Ok, problem solved (mostly), more information and a lingering question. Voila! I noticed that the 1.7.5.2 xsl package I downloaded already includes a catalog.xml file http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/1.75.2/catalog.xml So all I really need to do is link Oxygen's preferences to that specific catalog.xml file on my local machine. So, really, all I need to do is go to Preferences --> XML --> XML Catalog --> NEW Xml catalog --> Browse to catalog.xml in local xsl root (file:/I:/My%20Documents/xml/docbook-xsl-1.75.2/catalog.xml). When I right-click the href value and click Open File at Caret, it opens in the frameworks directory (not the path I gave it) to the default xsl file (which is 1.7.5.1). Humpf! If I change the xsl: import to <xsl:import href=" http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/1.75.2/epub/docbook.xsl"/> and do the same thing, the correct file opens up in my editor. Horray! Although I've solved the problem, why didn't it work the first time? The catalog.xml file for the 1.7.5.1 looks pretty similar to the 1.7.5.2 one (although I noticed the absolute path for 1.7.5.2 is http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/ but for 1.7.5.1 it's http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/current/ Any idea? Hello, You should add the XML catalog of DocBook XSL 1.75.2 on the first position in the list of XML catalogs of the DocBook doctype that is available in Preferences -> Document Type Association. If you are a content author (you are not allowed to edit the document type) you have to duplicate the DocBook 4 or DocBook 5 document type and add I:\My Documents\xml\docbook-xsl-1.75.2\catalog.xml on the Catalogs tab of the dialog for editing the document type: http://www.oxygenxml.com/doc/ug-oxygen/dg-complex-customization-tutorial.ht… If your catalog is on the first position it will be parsed before the built-in catalog of Oxygen. You can check that the XML catalog is used by right click on the href value of <xsl:import href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/epub/docbook.xsl"/> and run the action Open File at Caret. DITA-OT & Oxygen

I've created a two-pane XHTML publishing output using DITA-OT 1.4.3. This XHTML Knowledgebase has a search facility and JavaScript collapsible TOC, both of which were implemented using custom plugins to the vanilla DITA-OT v1.4.3. I'd like to be able to use this output format alongside our other outputs from Oxygen. To publish my output I have to run the following within a DOS shell ant -f my_build_file.xml Oxygen runs transformations as follows "c:\program files\oxygen xml editor 10.3\jre/bin/java" -Xmx256m -classpath "C:\Program Files\Oxygen XML Editor 10.3/tools/ant/lib/ant-launcher.jar" etc ... ... ... 1) Can I my 'ant' scripts directly with oXygen's version of DITA-OT? 2) Do I need to change my build file to be run using Java at command line? 3) How do I integrate custom build files with oXygen? 4) Can I integrate plugins into the DITA-OT version that's shipped with oXygen? I'm having a tough time understanding the process for adding to the catalog. I am trying to make oxygen default to the 1.7.5.2 Docbook version (which was released a few weeks ago). I want to keep a local version available on my Windows machine. I understand that I need to add something to the catalog, but where? First, I see C:\Program Files (x86)\Oxygen XML Editor 10\frameworks\docbook\xsl\catalog.xml has this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <catalog xmlns="urn:oasis:names:tc:entity:xmlns:xml:catalog">  <rewriteURI uriStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/current/" rewritePrefix="./"/> <rewriteSystem systemIdStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/current/" rewritePrefix="./"/> <rewriteURI uriStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/1.75.1/" rewritePrefix="./"/> <rewriteSystem systemIdStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/1.75.1/" rewritePrefix="./"/> </catalog> I'm not 100% sure, how I'd edit this file. Oxygen tells me that this file isn't editable (because it's under Program Files, not user space). Would the appropriate syntax be something like this: <rewriteURI uriStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/1.75.2/" rewritePrefix="I:\My Documents\xml\docbook-xsl-1.75.2\"/> <rewriteSystem systemIdStartString="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl-ns/1.75.2/" rewritePrefix="I:\My Documents\xml\docbook-xsl-1.75.2\"/> If I created an identical catalog.xml in my user folder (I:\My Documents\xml\docbook-xsl-1.75.2\) but switched out 1.7.5.2 for 1.7.5.1, would that be right? Then Options --> Preferences --> XML Catalog --> Add new catalog --> browse for this new catalog.xml is there an easy way for me to verify that the new local version of xsl file is actually being used? If I just declare I<xsl:import href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/epub/docbook.xsl"/> in my stylesheet, would that be enough (while taking slight hits on performance while the file is being downloaded). Relax NG Pluggable Datatype Libraries

Hi, I'm trying to add XHTML5 support to oXygen XML editor (Eclipse plugin) using the Relax NG schema files from validator.nu[1]. However, parsing the RNC files fails because of the Datatype Library with the "http://whattf.org/datatype-draft" namespace: > datatype library "http://whattf.org/datatype-draft" not recognized | html5/web-forms.rnc Validator.nu provides a Pluggable Datatype Library[2][3] for that namespace. I've copied it in the ${oxygenHome}/lib/ directory and even added it to the XHTML5 classpath in the Document Type Association preferences. However, it doesn't solve the issue. I don't know if it's a problem with the .jar, the service for org.relaxng.datatype.DatatypeLibraryFactory or something else and I don't know what to do to make it works. Feature Request: Transform Scenario Variables for Path and Name of Input XML Document

When developing transforms it is usually more convenient to have a scenario that is applied to the transform rather than its input documents, because the input documents often vary but the transform is constant (and it's what I'm editing--I may not even have the input document open in the editor). However, the ${cfd} and ${cfn} variables reflect the document to which the scenario was applied. What I would like is variables that reflect the value of the XML URL scenario parameter so that I can, for example, have the output go wherever the XML input doc is. Hi, Is there any way to tell oXygen to ask the user interactively for a parameter value, each time a specific scenario is executed? To give a concrete example, let's say one stylesheet parameter is a password: <xsl:param name="password" type="xs:string"/> Of course, I don't want to store it in the XPR project file, as a clear string. That would be perfect if we were able to say in a scenario definition: "ask for the 'password' param using a dialog box each time this scenario is executed." Did I miss it in the documentation? How to Force Open Toolkit to Use Saxon 9?

I'm running the Toolkit from Oxygen. I'm using the 1.5 version that I've swapped into the base one. I'm finding that when I run the Toolkit through Oxygen I'm getting Xalan, not Saxon 9 when I must have XSLT 2 (and the 1.5 Toolkit includes Saxon 9 in its dist). I have been unable to figure out what I have to do in this scenario to make the Ant-driven process use Saxon. What am I missing? Dear Wendy, Are you using the DITA Open Toolkit files which came with the Oxygen installation or did you overwrite the toolkit with a newer version? The build.xml file located in: "C:\eclipsehelpdev\eclipse\dropins\com.oxygenxml.author_9.3.0\plugins\com.oxygenxml.author_9.3.0\frameworks\dita\DITA-OT\demo\fo\build.xml" does not seem to contain the changes we introduced in order to make switching between FOP and XEP seamless. Pointing oxygen to xep

Hi. I downloaded a trial version of RenderX XEP and installed it in the default location (C:\Program Files). I went into oxygen and set it up as an FO processor, using the "If you have xep installed you can add it directly" browse button. But when I build, I get this: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/idiominc/ws/opentopic/fo/xep/Runner [java] Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.idiominc.ws.opentopic.fo.xep.Runner Are there additional steps I need to do to get these two to play nicely? 10.3 DITA Editor Behaviors

I'm using DITA 10.3 - The ID generator is nice but it would be nice if it generated much shorter IDs. It looks like it's generating UUIDs but in most cases it would be sufficient if the generated ID incorporated the ID of the root topic and a shorter value, such as a 5-digit serial number. Since IDs for elements other than topics only need to be unique within their containing parent topic, there's no need for long or globally-unique IDs (and there shouldn't *ever* be a need for such IDs, but I realize that some CMS systems impose that requirement). - The ID generator does not modify IDs on copy--that means if I create a topic within a parent topic and then copy it, I get a "duplicate ID" validation error and have to go manually fix the ID. Copy (as opposed to move) should act like create and assign a new ID. If Oxygen can't reliably distinguish move from copy then the current behavior is better than resetting an existing ID value. - The behavior of the insert topic ref dialog when you select "append child" is to continue appending children, so if you keep the dialog open after doing say "insert topicref to currently-edited file" and don't change the insertion location, the next topic inserted is inserted as a child of the one you just inserted, which is almost *never* what I want. In almost every case that I've inserted a topic and then want to insert more, I'm inserting children of the initial parent topicref that all exist in the same directory as the topic I just inserted. That is, I think it would make more sense for the dialog to *always* revert to "insert after" behavior even if the origin insertion was an "append child" insert. Topicref Insertion Feature Request: Recognize Maprefs Vs. Topicrefs

One side effect of the new behavior I requested whereby the topicref insertion dialog remembers the last topicref type used is that if you insert a map reference and then insert a topicref, you'll get a mapref by default, which is never right. Would it be possible for the insertion dialog to look at the type of the target, once it is selected, and select the first topicref that specifies a value for format that matches the target type if the currently-selected type isn't appropriate? That is, given that I last inserted a topic and I select a map, see if there are any available topicref types that specify format="ditamap" and, if so, select the first one. For DITA 1.2 there will usually be at least <mapref> in the default map shell doctype. If I last inserted a map and I select a topic and the currently-select topicref type specifies format="ditamap", select either the first topicref type in the list, or more usefully, the last-used topicref-to-a-topic type. That is, if the insertion dialog can select a good default for refs to maps and topics and remember the last type used for each type of reference, it would have the effect of making the insertion dialog select the mostly-likely-to-be-right topicref type regardless of whether I'm inserting a map or topic. Link one ditamap to another?

I'm currently working on two products. Product A will become a component in Product B. I created a project for Product A with its own ditamap and so on. For Product B, I created a reference to the project for Product A (I'm using the Eclipse plugin version of oxygen) and linked from Product B's ditamap to Product A's ditamap. New Author Insert Behavior? New Sibling of Current Element

I'm doing authoring of a definition list. To create a new dlentry it's most effective to move outside the current dlentry and then hit enter to get "new dlentry", rather just move outside the dd (where I am when I'm done in the current dlentry) and do "split dlentry", because split doesn't cause the required subelements dt and dd to be created. It occurs to me it might be useful to add a new option, "new sibling {tagname}" in addition "split {tagname}". Alternatively, have "split" behave like "new" such that it inserted required subelements in the newly-created element if the split occurs at the end of the split element (meaning that the split is identical to a "new" action).
