Hi All, Thanks for all your suggestions. I loaded the XSL that Sorin sent and it validated without errors. I checked my Options -> Preferences -> XSLT -> XSLT 2.0 options and I have selected Saxon-B 9.0.0.6. I then went back to edit the configuration transformation scenario and found the problem. For some unknown reason to logic I somehow had set the "Transformer" option to Saxon 6. Once I set this to Saxon-B 9.0.0.6 the translation worked. ;--) Sorry for causing you all to think about this problem. I should have thought to look at those settings. Instead of looking at the global settings. I'm sorry for the incompetence. ):--( Thanks to you all for the help. I love these support lists. Hi, I am running Oxygen9.3. I am trying to use an XSLT 2.0 function "lower-case()". For some reason the XLST doesn't recognise this function. I get the error: SystemID: G:\asdd\work\dif2anzlic\DIF-ISO-ANZLIC.xsl Location: 1378:0 Description: Error in expression lower-case(.): Unknown system function: lower-case I don't understand why this is not working. I have set my preferences to use Saxon-B 9.0.0.6 for XSLT 2.0 Validation. Is there some other setting that I need to make? Custom editor variables

Hi, It seems there is a defined, finite set of editor variables. I didn't find any way to create my own variables. Did I miss something? My problem is: I have some stylesheets I am working on in a separate directory than the oXygen project directory. And that directory can change from time to time. Instead of changing each scenario each time that directory changes, I would like to define an editor variable, my-dir, and use it in the scenarios: "${my-dir}/sub/sheet.xsl" Regards, -- Florent Georges http://www.fgeorges.org/

Entering Unicode characters

XQuery (or XPath) console?

Hi, I should have missed something, but I can't find a tool in oXygen to evaluate XQuery (or at least XPath) expressions. For instance, I have a set of XML files in a directory, and I'd like to know which has the most 'elem' elements. So I'd like to evaluate a query (without creating a new file, if possible selecting the default collection with a file dialog, and if possible recording the query as part of the project) something like: for $d in collection() order by count(//elem) return document-uri(.) Hi, Congratulations on integrating Saxon-SA - a great move! I think there is a slight issue, this stylesheet (when run against itself with no output file given) causes the exception "Cannot write to a URI that has already been read": <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0"> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:result-document validation="strict"> <foo/> </xsl:result-document> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Also, in the "Saxon SA" specific options, -val and -vlax should be radio buttons shouldn't they (with a third option for skip)? I personally would like like the default to be -vlax rather than -val, otherwise you are forced to disable it if you want to use Saxon SA but aren't using input validation. Hi, I have noticed that a feature in Oxygen 10.0 is the XML instance generator from W3C XML Schemas. I use the ISO 19139 W3C XML Schemas with my work. In these there is an element called "MD_Identifier" which has an 'authority' element as one of its children. The 'authority' element is of type 'CI_Citation' which has a child element of 'identifier'. This 'identifier' element is of type 'MD_Identifier' so you see that there is a recursive call on the 'MD_Identifier' element. If these W3C XML Schemas were used to generate an XML document instance, the resulting XML would just keep on being built until the process was stopped unless there was a way of setting the number of times or levels that an element is recursively called. Can this be set in Oxygen 10.0? That is, can I stop the recursive call of an element and its children after so many loops? Thanks. John

Hi I have intalled the new oXygen 10, and the sample XML file schematron/iso/tournament/Tournament.xml contains: <Type>Singles</Type> <Date>2001-03-20</Date> <Participants nbrParticipants="3"> <Name id="p1">Nick</Name> <Name id="p2">Marcus</Name> <Name id="p3">Eddie</Name> </Participants> <Teams nbrTeams="5"> <Team id="t1" Name="Team 1"> <Member>p1</Member> </Team> <Team id="t2" Name="Team 2"> <Member>p2</Member> </Team> <Team id="t3" Name="Team 3"> <Member>p3</Member> </Team> </Teams> You can see that Teams/@nbrTeams eq 5, while there is only 3 Team elements. This is actually caught by the associated Schematron schema, by the assert: ../t:Participants/@nbrParticipants = ../t:Teams/@nbrTeams Seems like a bug? Highlighting syntax

How do I get syntax highlighting in program listings, when doing a docbook transformation? I've downloaded and installed the xslthl jar from source forge. I'm using oxygen 9.3 and renderx xep. what happened to my cursor keys?

Has anyone else suffered sudden up- and down-key remapping in the oXygen editor on Mac OS X? It's driving me nuts. A week or so ago, for no apparent reason, pushing the up arrow key no longer causes the cursor to go up in the oXygen editor pane, but rather causes the buffer to scroll down. It's as if in this circumstance oXygen is seeing ctl-up instead of up. I thought I might have a sticky keyboard, but it happened with 3 different keyboards. I might have suspected oXygen 9.3, but I've had it for a pretty long time, and hadn't noticed this problem before. I suspected a Mac OS X update, but the owner of one of the 3 or 4 Macs I saw displaying this symptom this weekend swore she hadn't applied any system updates. What gives? How can I wrest control of my cursor keys back? (It's interesting the compensatory mechanisms we develop -- I found myself finding new key combinations to get me close to what I used to be able to do. E.g., where previously I would have pressed down down cmd-right to get to the end of the line 2 lines below where my cursor is, now cmd-right right cmd-right right cmd-right does the trick.)

XML to HTML - a couple of questions

Hi, My first question relates to oXygen's output when transforming from XML to HTML. I have a stylesheet that starts: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' ?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <head> <title>My Title</title> When I do the transformation, I get this output (start): <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>My Title</title> My question is, what is that meta tag? Not only does it appear to have been inserted without my say-so, but it's also invalid since it's not closed. The second question concerns the insertion of a DTD at the top of the page. My Google-foo appears to have deserted me to the extent that I can't see any way of performing a transformation that puts a DTD at the top of the HTML page. Unsurprisingly, I want to have this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> ... as the first line in the result document. Large XML file

Hi, I am producing a very large (50MB) XML file via a transformation. Once the file has been produced, it passes through a validation process (another transformation) - for business rules compliance of the original data - as a result of which we occasionally need to examine the xml file in an editor. When I use oXygen to view the file, it takes over 30 minutes to load. The large file viewer is of no use because it does not format the input. Without formatting, the input is just a single long line of unformatted XML. The contents of the oxygen.vmoptions file is: -Xmx1450m -Dcom.oxygenxml.language=English Oxygen is set to format and indent on load. Is there any way that oXygen can be configured to load and display the data more quickly? Cheers Peter

pop-up of datatypes?

This may be a FAQ, in which case I apologize -- I'm in the middle of a class, using oXygen to teach RELAX NG. A student asked an excellent question -- why is there no pop-up list (nor completion) for the values of type= of <data> at attribute insertion time? (He points out it would be *very* useful.) We note that at at validation time, oXygen can tell us that "date" is OK, but "dtae" is not. I'm betting that the schema oXygen is using declares type= as an NCName, but that at validation time oXygen knows to check the datatype library specified on the datatypeLibrary= in force. Any way to get attribute value pop-up for these datatypes?

invert selection

I am off once again teaching an XML class using oXygen. When we do this, we often project an XML document up on the screen and select an area (typically an element with some children) as being that to which we want the students to pay attention. But as soon as we've selected it in order to highlight it, the background becomes distinctive (gray in my case, but can be changed in the preferences), and color syntaxing is lost. I'd like to somehow have the reverse visual effect. I'd like everything else to be gray and dull w/o syntax highlighting, and the selected text to be bright and with syntax highlighting. Of course, I don't want the whole file to be w/o syntax highlighting until I select something. I want the act of selection to make everything else look dull, leaving the selection bright and cheery. One way to achieve this would be to have a "inverse selection" command. I realize that doing so would mean that there would be two discontiguous chunks of selection, and I'm not sure that's easy to do, or a good idea. But *some* way to achieve this marvelous pedagogical goal would be appreciated.

Catalog Resolution for DITA conref

All, I'm trying to get a catalog to resolve a uriSuffix for a conref in a DITA document but am getting an unexpected result. My catalog is setup like the following: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE catalog PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD Entity Resolution XML Catalog V1.1//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/entity/release/1.1/catalog.dtd"> <catalog xmlns="urn:oasis:names:tc:entity:xmlns:xml:catalog"> <uriSuffix uriSuffix="concepts/CopyrightHolder.xml" uri="src/main/documents/concepts/CopyrightHolder.xml"/> </catalog> It is set so that the catalog sits parallel to src. While watching the resolver I'm getting the following message: SystemID: null Description: Public: null System: file:/C:/workspaces/SkyManager2.0Clean/subversion.infotrustgroup.com/docume… = null It concerns me that it is getting null because with other resolver lookups when it doesn't find it, it at least shows an intelligent URI to replace with. Wildcards in validation scenario associations?

Hello! I would like to use wildcards to associate all xsl files in a certain folder to be validated starting form another xsl file. (the files are only used as imported from that certain place) Looking on how the project file works, if I associate it manually and save the project file, I get an added "<String xml:space="preserve">validation.scenario.associations</String>" with the actual file path added. If I simply modify the file path to contain for example "*.xsl" it doesn't automatically associate them, so it seems this solution did not work. executing XPath

I still don't like using the XPath Builder because, as far as I have been able to ascertain (without, of course, reading the manual) there is no way in oXygen to press "Execute" without using the mouse. My operating system (Mac OS X 10.5.5) will permit me to select buttons using TAB, but this is not always reliable, although it seems better lately.

Scenario editor: doc param and meta-stylesheet scenario

Hi I have the following stylesheet parameter in one of my stylesheets (note its type): <xsl:param name="initial" as="document-node()"/> I don't find how I can set its value in the scenario editor. Is it possible or do I have to create a driver stylesheet getting a filename and parsing it to set this parameter? (really, I'd like to avoid that) As a slide question, this stylesheet is actually a generated stylesheet. But I didn't find a way in the scenario editor to support meta-stylesheet (a double transformation that first generates the stylesheet using the meta-stylesheet, then transform a document using this generated stylesheet.) For now I have each time to launch two scenarios one right after the other. But maybe I just didn't find the right way to achieve that? XPath over sets of files

Hi, I know about the Find/Replace in Files option on the context menu in the Project View. Run a string (or regular expression) search through a set of files collected in a folder in your project. Cool. How about an XPath option that would work the same way? Currently I usually write myself a little Schematron to locate particular nodes, which isn't a big deal. But it would be nice not to have to when the search can be expressed simply in a one-line XPath. oXygen Author: Restrict from creating non-valid content?

Hello! Is it possible to restrict the Author view in oxygen from creating non- valid content? Meaning, it would only allow insertion of the elements shown in the drop down list, etc to avoid writers not familiar with the DTD to still provide content without errors? Upgrading Saxon, and custom processor thoughts

Hi The Saxon version used in "XML Editor 9.3, build 2008081313" is still 9.0.0.6. I tried to add the latest 9.1.0.2 but there is no support for parameters for custom processors. Did I miss anything? Here is what I would have thought to be able to do: when asking oXygen to add a processor, beside to be able to give it the command line, it should be possible to say "this processor is of well-known kind 'Saxon B'". Because oXygen already knowns how to support Saxon B, the user only need to give the directory where he put the JARs (and the license for the equivalent support for Saxon SA.) And this mechanism could be used for other kind of processor as well (libxslt, MarkLogic, eXist...) Did I miss something that looks like that? Or at least that allows me either to use parameters with custom processors or to update the Saxon version used? Best regards, --drkm
