Hi list, I have a list of correctly spelt words which I collected in FrameMaker. How can I add them to the list of "learned words" in oXygen? I added them to the *.tdi file, but oXygen overwrites this file when I use the spell checker and so the words are gone. [ANN] Oxygen XML Editor version 25.1 has been released!

Hello everyone, We are incredibly excited to announce the immediate availability of *version 25.1* of its industry-leading XML suite of products: *Oxygen XML Editor*, *Author*, *Developer*, *Web Author*, *Publishing Engine*, *WebHelp*, *PDF Chemistry*, and *Scripting*, as well as *version 3.0* of the *Oxygen Feedback* comment management platform. Some of the highlights of this release include various productivity improvements for *DITA authors* and new possibilities for *DITA publishers* who produce either CSS-based PDF or WebHelp output. *JSON schema designers* can look forward to more functionality to help them in Design mode, as well as upgrades to some of the JSON tools, and support for editing JSON Lines documents. *YAML developers* will be happy to see that the YAML editing support was bolstered to a level similar to Oxygen's JSON support. Many of Oxygen's *popular add-ons* were updated with new options, visual improvements, performance enhancements, and ease-of-use features. The *scripting community* now has access to some *ready-to-use GitHub project templates and GitHub actions* that allow users to automate scripts and some of the existing scripts were improved, while new ones were added. This release also provides various important *component updates*, *bug fixes*, and *security enhancements*. *Oxygen XML Web Author*, the cutting-edge web-based XML authoring tool, comes with even more improvements and updates. This release brings you updates for the *comparison* tool and *image maps*, new plugins are available for adding support for *CALS tables in custom frameworks*, rendering *LaTeX equations*, and providing *client-side evaluation of XPath* expressions. Various other enhancements were implemented as well. One of the major additions in the latest version of *Oxygen Feedback* is the *Content Indexing and Search* feature, which enables you to utilize Oxygen Feedback as an external search engine for your published Oxygen WebHelp Responsive output. =============================================================================** *What's new in Oxygen XML Editor 25.1* *Oxygen XML Editor version 25.1* is a minor release of the industry-leading bundle of tools for content authors, developers, collaborators, and publishers. This release offers both enhancements to existing functionality and some brand new features that were requested by the community. For *DITA authors*, when working with DITA-OT projects that define multiple output configurations (called contexts), it is easier to select the current context used to see how the DITA content looks like in that configuration using the *re-designed interface*. It facilitates the *context selection with improved grouping and filtering options*. Starting with DITA 1.3, it is possible to *specify filters for a branch of a DITA map* through a functionality called branch filtering. Oxygen's advanced *DITA map validation and completeness check now factors in branch filtering*. DITA 1.3 also introduced the concept of key scopes, enabling you to specify different sets of key definitions for different map branches. Oxygen's *DITA Reusable Components view* has a new filtering option to show keys with the closest relative key scope to the current editing location, and key references are validated taking the key scope into account. The *DITA Map Metrics Report* that contains useful statistics for the current DITA map was *redesigned to allow easier navigation* to its various categories. *Performance was improved when editing large DITA maps* and the Change or remove profiling attribute value refactoring action also updates DITAVAL filter files. *DITA publishers* who produce CSS-based PDF output have the possibility of *displaying line numbers or visual markers for whitespace characters in code blocks*, making code snippets easier to read in the output. The *error reporting was improved* when publishing DITA-OT Project files. For example, the transformation error messages displayed in the Results pane contain the ID of the deliverable. You can also *c**ontrol the behavior of footnotes* using a new transformation parameter that when set to yes, causes footnotes that are referenced multiple times throughout a publication to be cloned and placed at the bottom of the page for each occurrence instead of subsequent references pointing back to the original footnote. For *WebHelp publishers*, this release added new parameters for *disabling the generation of index terms* and *excluding topic IDs from context-sensitive help*, a new extension point can also be used to help you *fine-tune the XSLT transformation* that generates the mapping for context-sensitive help, and the JQuery library that comes bundled with WebHelp is accessible in the browser's global context enabling developers to use it. The innovative *JSON Schema Design mode* received further enhancements. A new action was added to *flatten the entire hierarchy of JSON schemas*, the Extract Definition type actions work on multiple selections of components, and the *functionality of search actions was extended* to enable them to be used on the root schema component. The *XSD to JSON Schema conversion tool* and the *JSON Schema Documentation Generator* were both upgraded to fix various issues and enhance performance. Also, basic *editing support was added for JSON Lines documents*, and JSON property names are now displayed after ending brackets to make the code more readable when editing JSON documents in Text mode. *YAML developers* have *access to an Outline view* that displays the list of all the components of the document in a hierarchical (tree-like) representation and can be used to navigate to a specific part, or to move or delete components. *Content completion assistance* was implemented to help you *edit YAML documents by offering proposals for inserting YAML structures* that are valid at the current editing location. Various actions (e.g. *Toggle Line Comments*, *Copy JSON Pointer*, and *Copy XPath*) were also implemented to bring the *YAML editing support to a level similar to Oxygen's JSON support*. For *XSLT and XQuery users*, a new version of the *Saxon XSLT and XQuery Transformer add-on is now available for Saxon 12 *and the Saxon 11 version of the add-on was also updated to incorporate Saxon 11.5, the latest maintenance release of the Saxon 11 engine. Also, the output of *XQuery Trace functions* (used in XML refactoring actions for debugging purposes) is presented in the Results view to make the information more readily available. Many of the most *popular add-ons received updates* and some interesting *new add-ons were implemented*. The *Git Client add-on* offers *new options, visual improvements, performance enhancements, and ease-of-use features*. Various performance, layout, and rendering improvements were implemented for both the *JSON Schema and OpenAPI Documentation Generator tools*, and the *Batch Documents Converter and Terminology Checker add-ons* also received various updates to bolster their functionality. A *new Live Tutorials add-on* is available to help you create tutorials for learning various editing functions for a certain vocabulary. This add-on also comes bundled with some *small tutorials that teach you how to do various DITA editing tasks*. Another new add-on is available to help you *manage Fluenta DITA translation projects*. Warning from ODD processor

Not sure whose problem this is, but the built in ODD to RELAXNC processor (part of the oXygen TEI framework) at release 25 of oxygen editor still seems to be using a component that needs updating. I would like oXygen to automatically insert as a child element when inserting <table>, <simpletable> (for the table cells of course), <info>, <stepresult>, <stepxmp>... and many more. How do I do this? Validation problem

I have a RELAXNG schema which contains embedded schematron rules and a document which begins with two xml-model PIs like this: <?xml-model href="out/odd4crit.rng type="application/xml" schematypens="http://relaxng.org/ns/structure/1.0"?> <?xml-model href="out/odd4crit.rng" type="application/xml" schematypens="http://purl.oclc.org/dsdl/schematron"?> When I validate this document using the default CTRL-SHIFT-V option, or using a predefined validation scenario, only Schematron validation errors are reported. When I validate by selecting "Validate with" and specifying the schema URL again, errors reported by jing also appear. Is this the intended behaviour? Why? I am using <oXygen/> XML Editor 24.1, build 2022030807 on Ubuntu 20.04

Schematron rule

Hi all, I need a Schemtron rule which indicates an error when <li> elements do not have any child elements. No error schould be indicated for <li> elements with an "conkeyref" attribute and also for <li> elements which are children of any element with a "conkeyref" attribute. Inserting current date into DITA file

Hi list, How can I insert the current date into a dita file? I would like to have oXygen automatically update the year of a copyright notice. I know that I can define editor variables. But how can I embed them in the dita code? If this needs to be tied to the XSL that produces the deliverable: I need this for CHM, which I generate with oXygen. (I have already found a solution for MiramoPDF. ) And I'd need to know where exactly to add the code... Thank you. However, these rules are not applied when inserting images using the DITA Reusable Components view. Can this be done? Hi list, Is it possible to expand/collapse all items at the same level with just one click? I tried all combinations such as Ctrl-click, Alt-click, Shift-Ctrl-click etc., but to know avail. I refer to the Project window, DITA Maps Manager and Outline view. This would be a useful feature. Image and table width in Author mode

Hi list, I publish DITA content as online help and PDF. In oXygen's Author mode I would like to make sure that images do not exceed the width of the A4-sized PDF pages. Sometimes I also place two or more inline images side by side in a paragraph and want to make sure if all of them fit on the line or if there is a line break between them. All my images have PNG format and an "otherprops="fmdpi:xxx" attribute where xxx is usually 150, in some cases 140, 160 or similar. FrameMaker, my previous XML editor, honors this attribute and scales the images appropriately. I notice that oXygen displays images bigger in its editor compared to 150 dpi images in FrameMaker. I would need to reduce all images to about 66% of their size (= by factor 1.5). Unfortunately I do not know of any CSS style which scales images based on their own pixel size. Percentage values in CSS apply to the widht or height of the viewport. Likewise, I would like to make sure that table columns are not too narrow on the PDF pages. What can I do? Any ideas are welcome. DITA footnotes in Author mode

Hi list, oXygen does not seem to have any special styling for DITA footnotes in Author mode. They are just shown as inline elements in italics. Has anybody managed to style footnots with CSS in a way similar to how they would like on a page, i.e. on the bottom of the page with ascending numbers and a superscript number at the location where the footnote is referenced? I made some attempts with "fn {position: absolute; bottom: -2em}", but was not CSS-skilled enough to prevent the footnotes all being placed on top of each other. And I don't know how to implement a counter for elements that are scattered over the element tree (not children of the same element). Any ideas? Hi Radu, thanks for your analysis of my issue! Your questions and thoughts helped me to track down the problem. If you try to publish a map containing a title (or data element) with a conkeyref like this <map><title><ph conkeyref="key/productName"/></title>...</map> and if the reused element contains another element with an id attribute like this <ph id="productName"><ph id="otherId">...</ph>...</ph> then the DITA OT 3.7.3 (Oxygen 25.0 build in) is not able to resolve the reference on map level. For example the pdf front page title does not contain the referenced content. If you use conref instead, everything is fine. Conkeyrefs from topic to topic are also resolved as expected. It looks like a OT bug. Thx! [ANN] The Oxygen Live Tutorials add-on has been released!

Hello, We are excited to announce the release of our newest add-on – *Live Tutorials*! Now, end users can access live tutorials and learn how to utilize Oxygen right from the application by using this latest entry in our add-on library. The Live Tutorials add-on comes bundled with a set of tutorials for learning to work with the DITA XML standard and it also gives you the ability to create your own tutorials. Each tutorial contains one or more missions. A mission consists of a set of instructions and helpful tips in addition to the initial file content that is opened in the application. After you modify the original content to get the desired outcome, the mission is considered successful. To manually install the add-on, follow this procedure: 1. Go to *Help > Install new add-ons* to open an add-on selection dialog box. Enter or paste https://www.oxygenxml.com/InstData/Addons/default/updateSite.xml in the *Show add-ons from* field or select it from the drop-down menu. 2. Select the *Live Tutorials* add-on and click *Next*. 3 Read the end-user license agreement. Then select the *I accept all terms of the end-user license agreement* option and click *Finish*. 4 Restart the application. Result: The *Tutorials* view is now available. To open the view, select *Tutorials* from the *Window > Show View* menu. FM/OXY: Different DITA code for "conkeyref"

Hi list, As some of you know, I have just switched from FrameMaker to oXygen. I discovered that the two programs create different DITA code for "<dlentry conkeyref="...">. oXygen creates an empty * *tag before the closing </dlentry> tag. Are both codes equally correct? Or is one better than the other? oXygen code: <dlentry conkeyref="lib_ref/search"> <dt/> <dd>**</dd> </dlentry> FrameMaker code: <dlentry conkeyref="lib_ref/search"> <dt/> <dd/> </dlentry> Referenced dita topic: <dlentry id="search"> <dt><uicontrol keyref="color_search_box"/></dt> <dd>Use this option to quickly find a specific color if many colors are loaded.Enter the first few letters or any part of the color name. This will select the first color the name of which is matched by these characters.If your input matches multiple colors, click on the small arrow to select a color from the list. This list contains only colors with names that contain the characters you have entered.</dd> </dlentry> BTW: This difference became obvious after defining a Schematron rule which outputs an error for <dd> elements which do not have any child elements. I have defined this rule and many similar ones because I want to wrap every paragraph in wherever is valid. The FM-generated code (<dd/>) is marked up as invalid by this rule. It would be a nightmare to change all these hundreds of "conkeyref"s in all my projects. After Fluenta update the context menu action disappeared

Hello, the Fluenta context menu action in the DITA Maps Manager view disappeared after updating to Fluenta 3.3. Reinstalling the plug-in didn't help, reinstalling Oxygen didn't help either. Is there some temporary config file I have to change/delete to get this working again? Please, advice. Conkeyrefs not rendered on map-level

Hi DITA & Oxygen Users, Currently I want to switch from Oxygen 23 to 25.0 including an extracted build-in DITA-OT3.x with custom pdf2 plugin but In the updated environment we have the following effect: In almost all DITAVAL contexts (we have a lot) the variable texts are not rendered into the DITA Map anymore without error messages. Just a few DITAVAL contexts produce output as before. In published content topics/chapters everything is fine -> conkeyrefs are resolved. Also Oxygen Author WYSIWYG resolves all conkeyrefs as expected in topics and in the map. In the pre-processing output (…_MERGED.xml) the specific map elements do not contain the variable text but conref attributes with wrong transformed links: The conrefs contain “path/topic.dita#ElementID” instead of “path/ditatopic.dita#topicID/ElementID” In correct output contexts there are no conref attrubtes rendered into output, just the elements with resolved text. I guess, there could be many different reasons for this. I tried a lot and couldn’t reproduced the problem in a simple test project. I also did´nt manage to simplify our project to a working state. Maybe someone experienced a similar effect (conkeyrefs in topic content resolved but not in map title/data elements) and can provide hints for a possible cause and or solution. What I can say so far: - It has nothing todo with the custom pdf plugin: same problem with build-in pdf and html transformation scenarios. - We are using only standard pdf parameter settings. - It has nothing todo with filtering directly because I have deleted all filter atts in the conkeyref chain in scope of the problem. Also our props attribute specialization does not affect the problem. - We do not use: - - scoped keys and ditavalref in maps - - push-replace - Same problem with and without DITA project files. - Problem is not caused by DITA topic content structures (I have copied content from working to non-working context. I'm curious if someone has already seen something like this.
