Hello! I recently started using projects within oXygen and it's great to be able to store transformation scenarios with relative paths to the project folder, etc. However, this would be even better if you could improve the functionality, so I thought I'd give you some feedback :) * There is no easy way to see what project is currently active? (except for the file name of the project file) * There is no functionality "close project" ? Feature Request: Set Title from Navtitle When Creating New Doc from Map Manager

I've developed a pretty efficient practice whereby I use the map manager to create topicrefs to topics that don't yet exist and then take advantage of the "Create new document?" feature to create the document from a template. Since there is no ambiguity about where the title of the topic goes, I think it would be reasonable in this case for Oxygen to set the title of the newly-created topic to the navtitle value in all cases (even where the template document has a non-empty title). I can't think of a reason why in DITA you would have topics with invariant titles that you would create more than one of. For clarity, it might be best to provide some sort of "put navtitle here" thingy to put in the template but in this specific case I think it would be acceptable to just blindly create the title. The only time this would fail would be in specializations where the title itself has required subelements (a pattern I use for specialized reference topic types) but I think that would be handled if the rule was "put the title text in the first leaf descendant or self of the topic title", putting the onus on the template to provide any required subelements of topic. Just for the record: we also generate XSDs from the same RELAX schemas. Is it wise to use the same jars in combination with TRANG for the conversion to XSDs? Code Templates for Author Mode

I set up a code template to create a DITA draft comment. This works in text mode but not in Author mode. Is there the equivalent for author mode? I didn't see anything that suggested a way to do it for author mode. Hi, Would it be possible to make type and ref attributes in the xsd editor clickable so that control clicking them jumps to their targets? For example: 1. <xs:element name="foo" type="foo"/> 2. 3. <xs:complexType name="foo"> 4. <xs:sequence> 5. <xs:element ref="foo"/> Clicking type="foo" at 1. jumps to line 3, and clicking ref="foo" at line 5. jumps back to line 1. Map Editor Should Remember Last Directory Used for Topicrefs

I noticed that if I use the map editor to create a topic ref, then go to a different file (in my case, a DTD declaration module) then create another topicref, the remembered directory is the directory containing the file I just edited, not the last directory I used to create a topic ref. I think it's the likely case that authors will be linking to topics in the last directory they linked from. Would be convenient if the map editor remembered this directory. <oXygen/> as diff tool for TortoiseSVN

I want to use TortoiseSVN as the poor man's CMS for my XML project (based on DITA DTDs). The built-in diff-merge is line oriented, as are many other diff tools intended for programmers. This can lead to excessive flagging of differences in XML files which, by XML conventions for white space, linebreaks, attribute order, etc. are perfectly identical. Has anybody successfully used <oXygen/> as an XML diff-merge tool with TortoiseSVN or any other programming version management programme? How do you set TortoiseSVN up to invoke <oXygen/> and pass filename parameters, etc.? Any help received will earn my undying and pathetic gratitude! Regards, Hedley P.S. I've recently upgraded from Oxygen 9.1 to Oxygen 9.2 Performing this upgrade seems to have broken my xslt transformations. I have a project which is an extension of docbook 5.0 the custom xslt style sheet that I created imports the docbook.xsl which is located in frameworks. In 9.1 everything worked as expected. The basic layout was <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format" version="1.0"> <xsl:import href="http://docbook.sourceforge.net/release/xsl/current/html/docbook.xsl "/> <xsl:variable name="root.elements" select="' systemfeature scenario appendix article bibliography book systemfeature colophon dedication glossary index part preface qandaset refentry reference sect1 systemfeature set setindex '"/> <xsl:template match="systemfeature"> <xsl:apply-templates/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> And the stylesheet would match the systemfeature element and apply the proper templates to any docbook tags contained within it. Within 9.2 the import statement seems to "stop" the process, I cannot match any elements after I have imported. Unchecking "Use default catalog" Does Not Stop Framework's Catalog From Being Used

I'm trying to use Oxygen to test documents against a set of DTDs as organized for distribution to a client. These are DITA specializations that use the draft DITA 1.2 declarations, so I don't want the DITA 1.1 declarations to be involved at all. Unfortunately, it appears that Oxygen is including the DITA OT catalog from the frameworks directory even though I have "use default catalog" unchecked in my catalog options and only have my distribution-specific catalog included in the list of user-specified catalogs. Examining the catalog resolution trace I can see that references to the standard DITA declaration sets are resolving to the framework location. Is my expectation of how "use default catalog" should work correct or is there another way to disable use of the framework catalogs? very slow response when switching back to oXygen

Hi all, I'm a pretty new oXygen user (new since version 9.1). Really love the tool! But one thing that is really annoying is that if I leave oXygen for awhile (say, 20 minutes), and then come back to it, it usually takes at least 20-30 seconds before it starts responding, and it can sometimes take several minutes. I guess it's some kind of memory paging issue or something. This sometimes happens with other programs too, but it's much worse with oXygen than with any other program that I use. Is there something I can do to configure oXygen to get rid of this problem? I'm running oXygen 9.2 on Windows XP. Thanks, Seraphim

Setting up and configuring the Idiom FO Plugin in 9.2

Using 9.2 I tried to use the Idiom plugin to generate PDF. I had not done anything to the built-in framework. The transform scenario panel indicated that XEP was detected, but when I ran it I got a failure saying that it couldn't find xep/lib in /Applications/DITA-OT1.4.1 (this is on OS X). I did not have an /Applications/DITA-OT1.4.1 directory on my machine (although I had in the past). I did a search within the framework for "DITA-OT1.4.1" and couldn't find it. I then tried copying a working copy of xep from another Toolkit instance I had lying about into the framework's fo/lib directory, but no change. Finally, I created the directory it was looking for and put xep there and the PDF generation worked. Clearly there's something odd on my machine that is causing this problem but I have no idea what it might be. I'm afraid I found the online help for setting up the Idiom plugin a bit confusing (although I find the plugin itself a bit confusing). I didn't see any configuration settings that would have been pointing at DITA-OT1.4.1. Is it possible this is actually a bug in the plugin as distributed that was simply masked by the fact that the target directory exists on the machine(s) used to test Oxygen? I would have never noticed the problem if I had kept my 1.4.1 Toolkit around. Feature Request: Collapse All/Expand All/Expand One Level in DITA Map View

One of the really nice features of Arbortext Editor is the way you can control the expansion in their tree viewer: expand/collapse all or expand one level (they also implement a triple click that does the expand one level). For example, given a fully-expanded map, selecting the map element and doing "expand one level" would collapse all the children of the map so you only see the direct child topicrefs/topicheads. This is especially handy for very long maps. For example, I'm doing a lot of DTD documentation where I have the reference entries grouped by letter and there might be 150 or 200 separate entries under 20 or more groups. It can take a while for the map to populate all the navigation titles when I first open it, but if it was initially collapsed, it would populate the letter groups pretty fast. It would be really nice if this could be set as the default expansion for opening maps. I'm not sure if it would be practical to remember the expansion state of the map on save, probably not, but that would be handy too. It would be cool if Oxygen could provide at a minimum syntax highlighting for Groovy language programs. Not a high-priority feature, probably but I've started using Groovy for doing scripting against Java APIs (I would probably use Jython myself but it wasn't my choice to make). More Java memory errors with oXygen 9.2

Hello, Using oXygen for a long time under Mac OS X, the new version (9.2) have more memory errors than previous version. It look like a memory leak. Since this version I pai really attention to the number of open file. But with only two open files but a lot opened and closed before, the memory error appears about every 3 hours of work. I know that I could change the memory allowed to oXygen, but the bug appears too. After more work but it appears. Did somebody else notice this issue ? Best Regards, Jacques

Feature Request: Combo List of Common non-ASCII Characters

I find myself needing to insert non-ASCII characters like em-dash and whatnot which is not really convenient to do in Author mode (in text mode I just type the numeric character reference) [while I work on a Mac, I usually use a Windows keyboard so the magic Mac keystrokes for inserting special characters are not available (as far as I know). Anyway, it would be nice to have a configurable pulldown on the tool bar that can be loaded with some number of characters for quick insertion. Would also be handy for authoring equations and whatnot. Feature Request: Drag Tabs to Project and DITA Map Views

I find myself wanting to grab tabs for open files and drag them into either the project view or dita map view in order to add them to the respective view. For the project, just add to the project. For DITA maps, create topicref to the file. That would make it easy to create a new file and then add it to map without having to go through the "add topicref" process. XInclude warnings in version 9.2

I just updated to version 9.2 build 2008050821. I have many XInclude tags in by Docbook document that include plain text code samples like the following: <programlisting><xi:include href='../code/output/actionmailer/generator_example.txt' parse='text' xmlns:xi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude'/></programlisting> With the new version I'm receiving a large red warning in the author view like: Error parsing external reference: file:/Users/cody/writing/oreilly/book/code/output/actionmailer/generator_example.txt. Cause: The replacement of an 'include' element appearing as the document element in the top-level source infoset cannot contain characters. Is there any way to prevent this behavior? Map Editor: New Topicrefs Have Scope="peer"

I have been using the map editor by creating topicrefs to non-existent topics and then using the "topic doesn't exist, create new?" feature to create the referenced topic. The one problem I'm finding is that when I create the topicref, after I specify the URL of the target topic, the dialog sets the scope= value to "peer", which I then have to change to "local" so the reference will be correct. The URL I'm specifying is relative to the location of the map document, so the dialog should be able to tell that the target, while it doesn't exist, will be below the map's location (I can't think of any other way it would presume to guess whether a referenced topic is local or a peer). Alternatively, it should always take any relative path to be a local reference and any absolute path to be a peer path. Hi Rob, This behavior is configurable through a Java system property passed in the command line. You need to edit the oxygen.sh script to specify multiple instances to false, see also the comment in the oxygen.sh script about that: # Set multiple instances to false if you want to have a single running instance of Oxygen when # repeatedly starting oxygen.sh. SVN commit dialog issue

In the svn compoent, the commit dialog shouldn't be modal. I'm tired of needed to cancel out of a commit because I want to diff one of the files in the commit to see what has changed in that file. I'm having to open MacVim and create all of my comments there, and then copy/paste those into the commit dialog, which is also inconvenient. Thanks.

Shortcut Problem

Dear Oxy-users, I am currently trying to learn how to do DocType Associations and I experienced two problems, a minor and a major one. Heres the minor problem: I created a new button to insert a <lb/> element. Inserting works fine, i.e. after clicking the button, a <lb/> appears in the code. But in author mode, i guess because <lb/ > is defined as a block element (to actually make the linebreak appear) it is shown as <lb></lb> and the cursor in placed inside the <lb></lb> after inserting it. So if the editor continues to write, he fills the <lb> which is of course not allowed by the schema. What I would like to do is to position the cursor behind the element after inserting it. is that possible? The major problem concerns shortcuts: i defined a shortcut for the button, but it just doesn't work. Thats also true for predefined buttons, not only for my newly created ones. I tried to use the TEI Doctype and no shortcut works. I have no idea how to approach this problem. What could I do? Thanks!
