George Thanks for the great product and your responsiveness. I'm just thinking if there is currently a way, or if it would be within feasible means, to embed the ability to recognize and perform auto-complete and most important attribute menu selection for the LREs within an XSLT document. Of course I'm not looking for pre-validation of result. But with both HTML and FO, this could be a great feature and would cut on the development time specially if the number of attributes is large as is the case with XSL-FO. Involved LRE vocabularies can be identified from the xslt namespace declaration. Ajax-like content completion list in oXygen?

I'm wondering how the following might be accomplished in oXygen. Suppose I have an index of terms stored in an XML file, call it "index.xml". The file looks like this: <index> <entry>cats : and dogs</entry> <entry>cats : and mice</entry>  <index> I am editing an XML file, call it "doc.xml", in which I want to insert index terms contained in the index file, like so: <p>In 2006 Felix the cat caught over 200 mice.<index><term>cats: and mice</term></index></p> While editing doc.xml, after I type "<term>", I want to access a list of possible entries drawn from index.xml. Ideally this would be implemented in the manner of popular Ajax-based form entry, so that typing the first few letters would call up a window containing a list of all index entries beginning with those letters. Because index.xml could contain thousands of entries, this goes beyond what oXygen content completion or code templates are designed to do. Would this task require writing a plug-in for oXygen? Or are there off-the-shelf Ajax tools that would work with the Eclipse version of oXygen to enable this kind of interaction? Implementing a URI Protocol Handler Plugin

I'm trying to implement a custom URI protocol handler and as part of that I'll be creating my own dialogs for choosing objects from the RSuite repository. My question is: does the URLChooserPluginExtension have access to the parent frame of the Oxygen application? I see that for example selection plugins do but I don't see any indication that URL chooser plugins do, but I think it would be good, for example, to be able to position my dialog relative to the Oxygen window or get minimize events or whatever (which I think getting the frame lets me do--I'm very new to Java GUI programming). The error message I get is: The URI http://www.w3.org/2003/11/xpath-functions does not identify an external Java class I've tried it with and without the namespaces, whether in <schema>, <ns>, or within assert@test... You can add your own scenarios to this list. In your case the editing support added by the Ant plugin to Eclipse is not needed so the Eclipse Ant plugin does not simplify using the DITA Open Toolkit. UI questions

Hello I've got several questions that are mostly UI related: - When we split screen while editing, how can we open different files within each sub-screen? I know that works as it occurred accidentally while I was dragging a file tab, but I cannot re-produce it. - Can we have multiple project files *.xpr opened and presented within the project/file pane on the left? Advantage: When we switch project using Project > Re-open, one must save the current project files, and then open the other project files as needed. With multiple project trees, it's simpler to relate across files from each. - There probably should be a way to validate *.xsl files since there is an XSL (1.0) DTD. When I try to validate I get an error msg that JAXP isn't installed. "The transformer JAXP is not present! Please install it in the folder: file:/C:/Program Files/Oxygen XML Editor 8.2/lib/" - Anyone has links to multiple output extension XSL elements when Saxon or Xalan are used for transformation to HTML (analogous to the <xt:document)? - Soren: any plans of introducing a "tagged" view in the next release, in addition to "Text" and "Grid"? - I'm not familiar with Eclipse and I currently use the standalone oXygen version. But I believe Eclipse must have Ant installed, so would this be of help for editing and executing Ant build files for DITA on the same platform? I'm not sure, otherwise, if Oxygen built-in transformers (e.g. Saxon 6.5.5) can be use with a 'standalone' Ant version, or would one in this case need to install the processor separately? Jing stack size

Hello I'm using oXygen (7.2) as a plugin for Eclipse (3.2) to develop a RELAX NG schema. The schema has now reached a size/complexity for which the Java JVM stack size needs to be increased for Jing (on the command line) to function correctly. Hello, In case you did not find out already - we made available a beta version of oXygen 9 http://www.oxygenxml.com/download-beta.html A license key for testing v9 beta is available on the above page. Version 9 runs side by side with version 8 and it is recommended to backup your data as this is a beta version, that means it is not fully tested. The tagless editing support will be available also in the Eclipse plugin - we will make that available as well in a couple of weeks. stack overflow -- again

I know this has been discussed on this list before, and I apologize for not just looking through the archives myself -- my excuse is that I'm on the road, due to teach using oXygen in a matter of hours, and all h#!! is breaking loose. I have generated some schemas that oXygen can't use to validate an instance; and, I note, oXygen can't validate them. In both cases it sufferes a stack overflow. I am using the current release and have set -Xmx999M and -Xms64M at the end of my oxygenMac.sh file (which is how I invoked oXygen). The schemas can be found at http://bauman.zapto.org/~syd/temp/temi.rnc http://bauman.zapto.org/~syd/temp/temi.rng I tried to validate the schemas w/o using oXygen. `jing` complained that the version of relaxng.rng that came with oXygen does not have a <start> element, but it says that temi.rng is valid against the relaxng.rnc that came with nxml-mode. `rnv` agrees on both counts. (I've also tried several diffferent combinations of TEI modules to see what would and would not cause a stack overflow, but do not have a definitive answer yet.) Can anyone provide any useful info here?

emacs key binding in eclipse

Oxygen 8.2: File navigation dialogs very slow

I'm seeing an odd behavior on one of my machines which is that the file navigation dialogs for Oxygen have started responding very slowly. The problem appears to be limited to Oxygen (I don't see the problem in Eclipse or Explorer). It feels like a network timeout problem. Any idea what might cause this or how I can diagnose it? Dear Christian, The log files are many and very large. I looked in one of them and I could not find data about the hang. Until I look in all the log files that you sent please try to get a smaller oXygen log with the problem. For this you should close all the files that are already open in oXygen, close oXygen, remove all oxygen.log.* files, start oXygen again, reproduce the problem without any additional work in oXygen if that is possible and send again the generated oxygen.log.* file(s). oxygen says W3C html strict DTD has errors

Hello, I'm editing an HTML document in Oxygen. The document begins with <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> When I try to save, Oxygen shows an "error" in the DTD: SystemID: http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd Location: 81:5 Description: The declaration for the entity "ContentType" must end with '>'. The offending location is the second of these three lines in strict.dtd: <!ENTITY % ContentType "CDATA" -- media type, as per [RFC2045] --> Maybe this is because the DTD is an SGML DTD rather than an XML one? I don't know, but it seems strange for a W3C DTD to be called erroneous! Incidentally, I think this DOCTYPE declaration was added by HTML Tidy, or possibly by an HTML editor program. Lars

Hello, I could browse the content of the eXist database and open files in oXygen without problems by using the jar files from the latest eXist distribution available on the eXist website (eXist version 1.1.1 build 4311, build number 20061104). I opened the file db/shared/biblib.xq from the Database Explorer view of oXygen and I edited and saved it without errors or hangs. Also I opened the file using WebDAV (the Open URL action) and I edited and saved it using Ctrl + S without errors or hangs. The same thing happened when I saved the edited file to the same location using WebDAV (the Save to URL action). When I tried to save it to other location (db/shared/biblib2.xq, db/home/chris/biblib2.xq) the WebDAV server reported the 403 Forbidden error which means the guest user does not have permission to create new files. The same thing on both Windows XP and Mac OS X. Can you send detailed steps specifying also the path to a file in the eXist database for opening and saving the file for which oXygen hangs on your computer? Hello, The two log files show no errors or delays in the communication with the eXist server at http://localhost:8899/exist/xmlrpc. The connections to the server are opened, used for reading/writing and closed without errors. Can I get access to the server to test it myself in oXygen? Dear oXygen users and developers, When using oXygen to access files on the eXist database, I frequently encounter a situation where oXygen hangs and stops responding to any input. This occurs when saving to URL, especially, (although I am not 100% sure, since this is difficult to test efficiently) but not always, when saving a new file. I wonder what might cause this problem and how to avoid it. For your information, this happens on both Intel and PPC Macs with the latest OS X installed (but I seem to recall having this also experienced with a Windows XP machine), eXist is a recent SVN build. Generating "hot" reports

Hi, One nice feature in oXygen is that you can wire in External Tools, and oXygen will capture their outputs in a Command Results panel. Another is, of course, that you can link directly from reports generated by validators, XPath queries and the like -- which also appear in Command Results panels. Can these two features be combined? In other words, would it be possible for me to generate a report in an external tool which, once oXygen picked it up in its panel, would allow me to link directly to locations named in the report? I'm familiar with the "SystemID", "Location", "Description" format oXygen saves out from command results, but apparently (unless I'm missing something) what I want to do here isn't quite as simple as creating this format. Is this a feature request, or should I be able to accomplish what I want already? debugger questions

Hello, Just wanted to send some feed back on the tool regarding the xsl debugger: - Why do breakpoints not set ? There are 2 "add break point"s in the right click menu ... only 1 seems to add break points ... the other just changes the colour of the break point. - Watched variables don't update as you step in the debugger ... unless of course you click around in the gui to force a refresh ... this makes debugging pretty annoying ... - Can't break on variable definitions ... i keep getting an error msg that says "Breakpoints can only be created on a line containing the end of a start tag" ? - Inside some looping constructs it seems watches on certain xpaths return null ... even though variables dependent on the same xpath are set ... Editing & Processing DITA on 8.2

Hello Sorin / oXygen users Can anyone provide some guidelines/clues on using DITA 1.0 on oXygen 8.2 (while it does not yet incorporate DITA's Open Toolkit), provided the right DTDs are referenced. I got below some specific issues: - Filename extensions: although DITA's topic or map markup is well-formed XML and should validate against the corresponding DTD, DITA uses the file name extensions: *.dita and *.ditamap. As far as editing and validating, they seem to validate well with these extensions. - Now for OT processors that are available in O2 current version: Saxon 6.5.5 and FOP, can we set transformation scenarios, based on OT supplied XSLT sheets and process them to generate PDF out of a topic file or a map file? - This is probably for oXygen support. Siren: is the direction to strictly follow the processing tools and scenarios specified by OT (since they are part of the standard), or can we expect oXygen as an independent vendor to provide further transform scenarios beyond those specified by the OT. There is a bit of fuzziness of whether DITA is perceived as an XML application or as a tool. I tend to think of it as an application, but if it is fully dependent on the OT for processing, then it is more like a tool without a specific realization. Appreciate your feedback . Problem with Eclipse 3.3 plugin and XSL editor on Linux

I recently upgraded my Linux Eclipse installation to the Eclipse Europa package "Eclipse for RCP/Plug-in Developers" and added the Oxygen Eclipse 3.3 plugin. The XML editor seems to be fine but whenever I try to start the XSL editor it says: An SWT error has occurred. [stuff about exiting] Unhandled event loop exception (Time...) Reason: Cannot initialize Drop I have a similar installation on Windows but that seems to be working. create XML document from xsd - choose target namespace?

I have a schema, that starts out with: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <xs:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" version="1.0" targetNamespace="http://portal.earthscope.org" xmlns:esdp="http://portal.earthscope.org" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:ogc="http://www.opengis.net/ogc" xmlns:gml="http://www.opengis.net/gml"> <xs:import namespace="http://www.opengis.net/gml" schemaLocation="http://schemas.opengis.net/gml/3.1.1/base/feature.xsd"> </xs:import> <xs:import namespace="http://www.opengis.net/ogc" schemaLocation="http://schemas.opengis.net/filter/1.1.0/filter.xsd"> </xs:import> ... When I try to create a new XML document and select this schema file, the create doc wizard chooses the ogc namespace, and therefore offers up as root element all the elements defined in the imported ogc schema. I would like to get the elements defined in *this* schema under the target namespace. I can't seem to change the offered namespace. >> How do I get the create XML document wizard to choose the targetNamespace and the elements defined in this schema document?
