DTD validation and namespace prefixes

Hello, I have a Schematron schema that formerly was validating successfully against a DTD, but now with Oxygen 8.2, is failing validation. The Schematron schema begins <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE sch:schema SYSTEM "schematron.dtd"> <sch:schema xmlns:sch="http://www.ascc.net/xml/schematron" defaultPhase="done"> The DTD, schematron.dtd, begins <!ELEMENT schema ( title?, ns*, phase*, p*, pattern+ , p*, diagnostics )> As you can see, the DTD does not allow for the sch: namespace prefix on the <schema> element. Yet the validation used to be successful. Was the old behavior incorrect? Maybe I should just stop using schematron.dtd and use the Schematron-validator that Oxygen provides? Lars

oXygen 8.2 and MarkLogic Server 3.2

The new 8.2 release of oXygen has support for debugging against MarkLogic Server version 3.2, which hasn't been formally released yet. Will oXygen 8.2 work with the ML Server 3.1-5 release, or would it be best to wait until ML Server 3.2 is available before upgrading oXygen? content completion feature extension idea

In validated editing mode, if the content completion mechanism is used to create a new element that isn't allowed to have child elements, could the mechanism create an empty tag instead of balanced start-end tags? InvocationTargetException

Hello oxygen-user, oXygen 8.1 is failing to start, it gives FATAL ERROR Cannot start <oXygen/> XML Editor Due to java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException I have tried re-running the oXygen installer, choosing 'repair', and I have tried running the java upddater, which took me from jre1.5.0_08 to jre1.6.0_01, but neither of these things has fixed the problem. I'm not sure what has caused this error to start happening. I attached a screenshot, and cc'ed George in case the list does not like attachments. ISO Schematron support?

I see that O'Reilly has just released a title in their "short cuts" series, SCHEMATRON by Eric van der Vlist. It includes discussion of ISO Schematron: http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596527716/cover.html I know that ISO Schematron is still formally in beta. Will oXygen wait until a formal release to add support for it, or maybe incorporate the beta version if it seems to be robust enough? xdt namespace prefix

As recently noted in http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=461B7747.3020502%40…, the subject prefix and associated http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-datatypes namespace have subsumed by the http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema namespace. However, <oXygen/>'s inbuilt schema annotation still specifies, for example, "adjust-dateTime-to-timezone($arg as xs:dateTime?, $timezone as xdt:dayTimeDuration?) as xs:dateTime?" for the adjust-dateTime-to-timezone function. Would it be possible to alter the annotations to specify the xs prefix in some future version? Regards, Gary

I've been accessing a particular repository fine. This repository requires username/password. Yesterday, it prompted me for my username/password (I had clicked the store button). I found this odd, but entered the info. It was rejected. All other forms of repository access still work, with no issue. So it's not an issue with the repository.

Hello, I have a feature request about the Spelling dialog. Currently there seem to be no shortcut keys for the various buttons. E.g. you can't type Alt+R to Replace or Alt+I to Ignore. Moving the mouse back and forth between the Replace, Ignore, and Learn buttons can get quite tedious on a long document. Request: to add shortcut keys to the buttons on this dialog. problem with the shortcut for the code templates

Could anybody help me, please! I am on Mac OS X 10.4.8, Oxygen 8.1, and having a huge problem with the shortcut key for the code templates (control - space). Basically, it works ONLY occasionally, i.e., the shortcut key "may" work after me pressing control-space for 20 times! The shortcut, by the way, was working fine when I was on Oxygen 7. Odd Failure in Schema Documentation Generation

I'm trying to generate documentation for a schema that is a DITA specialization schema, which means it includes all the base DITA 1.1 schema stuff. My includes look like this: <xs:include schemaLocation="./subsectionGrp.xsd"/> <xs:include schemaLocation="../dita_1_1/metaDeclGrp.xsd"/> <xs:include schemaLocation="../dita_1_1/tblDeclGrp.xsd"/> <xs:include schemaLocation="../dita_1_1/topicGrp.xsd"/> When I do the documentation generation, I turn on generation of documentation for included schemas. The failure is that it fails with a message saying it couldn't find tblDeclGrp.xsd, even though the file is there (that is my specialized schema works fine and "Open file at cursor" on the above include works). This feels like a bug with how the documentation generator is resolving relative locations. If needed I can try to create a simple non-client-specific test case the demonstrates the failure. ADVICE: Validation, XInclude, thread order

My apologies, this is going to sound pretty weird. Background ------------------- I'm on a project that is using oXygen quite heavily to manage the "front end" of a web system. The site is organized by packages of screens. Each screen has local XML data modeling what the back-end should provide. Once modeled, the back-end developers implement something to match that model of the screen data. We then validate (RNG+Schematron) that the connection is as expected. During the course of this, I've started using lots of oXygen facilities to make things more productive. In this case, I have a master XML document with XIncludes to all the screens in the system. A transformation scenario converts this into a new output document with all the XIncludes merged, and with the PIs for the the RNG/SCH. People on the project can then do something like a unit test: open this master document, click the red play button, then click the red check button to validate all remote screens. In fact, since we can cheat and do add/edit/delete via a URL, they can validate form responses. And thus the problem... Problem ------------------- In my test scenario, order matters. I need to create a sample folder, add some documents to it, validate those documents, then delete them. All this is done by URL parameters on the XInclude (yes, this is cheating on GET.) If the delete happens before the add, though...well, it doesn't work. Unfortunately, I think XInclude happens via threads. Thus, the order entries appear in the XML document doesn't mean order of operation, and I delete something before it is added. I've thought about splitting the XML document up into a test_setup.xml, test.xml, and test_teardown.xml sequence. But unfortunately, I'd wind up with several setups and teardowns, based on containment. The only think I can think of is to have one document per "test", and make people run them one at a time. Which would suck. Or, have a multi-step transform scenario, and use XSLT document() to assemble all the screens linearly, instead of XInclude. Any ideas? --Paul

Using Custom Parser With XSLT Processors

In order to do XSLT processing with schema PSVI information (in particular, attribute defaults), I have created a little SAX parser factory for Xerces that turns on all the schema stuff. I can then use this with, for example, Saxon, to do schema-aware XSLT (for example, DITA-aware processing that depends on the class= attribute). I'm trying to figure out how to integrate this parser with Oxygen so that I can run my transforms from within Oxygen. I tried adding the necessary JVM arg to the oxygen INI file adding the library with the parser factory class to the classpath, but it didn't seem to do anything--I suspect that the XSLT process needs it's own JVM args spec, but the only thing I saw as a place to specify a transformer factory (I can do if I have to but then I'm looked into a specific version of Saxon, for example). Replace Java help with Windows help

Dear list members, For the Windows install kit of oXygen we consider replacing the Java help bundle which is opened by pressing the F1 key or by going to menu Help -> Help with a native Windows bundle (a CHM file) with the same content. Of course the F1 key will continue to open the bundle at a specific help page. We would like to remove the Java help jar file from the Windows installation and replace it with the CHM file instead of including both the jar file and the CHM file. This avoids increasing the size of the Windows install kit. Without the Java help jar file the Dynamic Help View does not work any more as it loads the help pages that it must display from this jar file. Do you think that removing the Dynamic Help View from oXygen on Windows is an acceptable price for replacing the Java help dialog with a native Windows help package? Hello, Thank you for the files. There is no problem with the content of the com.oxygenxml folder. The delay occurs when oXygen creates the file chooser dialog component of Java Swing and when oXygen sets the current directory in this component to D:\Documents and Settings\buschp\My Documents. Did you retarget your My Documents folder to a network drive? Are other network drives mapped to your file system but there is no connection to these drives? Does oXygen start up normally if you add the parameter -Duser.home=C:\temp\folder to the java command line in oxygen.bat and start oXygen again with the oxygen.bat script? Oxygen hanging at startup

Hi all, I had a working installation of Oxygen 8.0 with JVM 1.5.9 on Windows XP. When I decided to upgrade to Oxygen 8.1 I also wanted to upgrade my JVM to version 6. I uninstalled Oxygen, JDK and JRE. Afterwards I installed JDK 6 (which includes JRE 6) and Oxygen 8.1. Since this installation I have not been able to start any of the Oxygen applications. The splash screen appears, says "loading application" and hangs at 2%. Processor usage goes up to 100% and I have to kill the process. I read in the forums that changing the JVM might help. Well, I have tried every combination of Oxygen versions 8.0 and 8.1 with JVM version 1.5.9, 1.5.11 and 6 now but the problem persists. Even the combination of Oxygen 8.0 and JVM 1.5.9 that worked before fails. What am I missing? Best regards Paul

Directory comparison

I am using 'compare directories' and have set the preference to "Compare files by: content". I have set the file comparison algorith to "XML Accurate" but this seems to apply only to the file comparison itself and not to whether or not the files are listed as different in the directory comparison window. Is there a way to apply the selected file comparison algorithm to determine if the files show as different in the compare directories window? I know it will take some time if you choose one of the more expensive algorithms and there are a lot of files but I would find this very useful. -- Owen Rees Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Bristol, UK

Q: XML/XSL URLs and cross-platform transformation scenarios

I'm on a project where I manage a .xpr project file for a group of people on a team, putting in SVN to distribute changes. Everything is working well except for one small detail. I configure the transformation scenario using something like this as the Output -> Save As URL: ${pdu}/tmp/xxxoutput.html I'm on OS X and that works fine, but the forward slash doesn't work so well on Windows. Those folks then "fix" it, using a backslash, and then it breaks for me. Is there any chance that oXygen can normalize the slash in the URL? --Paul

Bug/Feature Request for Schema Documentation Generation

In my XSD schema I have attribute declarations with documentation annotations within the attribute declaration, like so: <xs:attribute name="number" type="xs:int" use="required"> <xs:annotation> <xs:documentation> <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <h3>A Number</h3> <p>A number from one to 10.</p> </div> </xs:documentation> </xs:annotation> I notice that the contents of the annotation is being output in the XML Instance Representation following the type indictator. This is not really very useful and certainly not what I expected. Is this a bug in the schema generation? If it's not a bug, can I submit a feature request to do something more useful with attribute-level documentation, such as put it out following any element- type-level documentation, labeled with the attribute name? I'd take a shot at it myself right now except that I'm already fully occupied at the moment. For now I can just move the documentation up to the element but I really want to have documentation bound as close to the thing documented as possible. Thanks, Eliot -- W. Allowing Ant Editor to Edit XML Files Other Than build.xml in Eclipse

In the DITA Open Toolkit there are lots of Ant scripts named "build_xxx.xml". For some reason, Eclipse only shows Oxygen and the built-in text editor when I do an "Open with..." on one of those files. Within content types, the "Ant buildfile" is associated with *.xml and likewise, under File associations, *.xml is associated with both the Ant editor and Oxygen. So I can't figure out why Eclipse doesn't provide the Ant editor as an option for Open with... While Oxygen is lovely it is not the best editor editing Ant files... Cheers, Eliot -- W. Autodetection tool of the type of document

Dear, While using new functionnalities of OxygenXML on NVDL, I was wondering why on opening an XML file with (.xml) extension, but containing an XML document with nvdl namespace, the tool don't detect it as NVDL document So, even if Christmas is already gone, here is my wish list : * An autodectect tool, that on finishing openning tools look at Namespaces available in the document and propose to open it as if it where an XML Schema, Relax NG, XSLT, etc. * At least, a menu and a click right button, to assign that view as if it was a document of type XML Schema, Relax NG, XSLT etc...
