problem with xlink in METS files

Hi there, I am having a strange problem with editing / validating METS instances. Using the schema from http://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/mets.xsd (which imports xlink.xsd at the same location), I am editing a file with the following root: <mets xmlns="http://www.loc.gov/METS/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.loc.gov/METS/ file:mets.xsd" xmlns:gdm="http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/GDM/" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/TR/xlink"> </mets> i.e. I am defining a NS prefix xlink for the xlink namespace. Nevertheless, when I place attributes from this namespace on elements (e.g. on Flocat), oXygen claims they are not valid there and instead offers the very same attributes, but with namespace prefixes like ns1, ns2 etc. This seems to be wrong, but I am at a loss how to fix this. Generating an instance from schema

Hi, I have a schema that imports another. The imported schema includes the definition of an element that is valid as the document element of a conforming XML instance. However Oxygen only offers elements defined in the importing schema as candidate document elements both when creating a new document for editing, or when generating a sample XML instance. Is this something that will be catered for in a future release? All the best Mark

I was using oXygen to take a look at the ant-build-docbook.xml file from the DocBook Ant distribution. http://www.cs.put.poznan.pl/dweiss/site/projects/ant-docbook-styler/downloa… oXygen is telling me that <available> can't be a child of <and> inside <condition>. Hello Allan, I don't have an Ubuntu box right now for testing but it works on Suse Linux. I think Ubuntu comes with a GNU Java virtual machine. Can you check that <oXygen/> runs with a Sun Microsystems JVM in Help -> About -> System properties -> java.vm.vendor ? Also you should try with a different JVM version, for example if you are using Java 1.5.0 you should try with Java 1.4.2. Hello, I'm using Oxygen on Linux and while I quite like it, I find it quite annoying that it doesn't support the standard Unix/Linux clipboard (in which selected text is automatically copied to that clipboard). Is there any way that I can configure this to work? where is the component versions list?

I've seen it before, but even though I spent a long time Googling (including Googling my search history), I can't find it again. It has a series of "blue" tables that show the version of each application that is included with oXygen. Particularly, I would like to know the FOP version. keep.relative.image.uris 0 being disrespected (???)

Hi, I have a stylesheet customization layer that sets the keep.relative.image.uris parameter to zero. (therfore, they are resolved against xml:base) I verified that the customization layer works by using xsltproc (I have it on the Samba server that hosts my Windows files) on the xml source files and xsl customization layer (and yes, the xml catalog on the server points to docbook-xsl 1.70.1 as the current release). xsltproc --xinclude -o Engineering_Optimization.xhtml ~/.xml/alpha/xhtml.xsl Engineering_Optimization.xml When I transform with oXygen 7.2 and saxon 6.5.5 using the same customization layer (by placing file:/Z:/.xml/alpha/xhtml.xsl in the XSL url field), the file comes out ok, with the exception that the uris have not taken xml:base into account, so they don't point to the correct folder (and thus the images don't show in Firefox). I have tried setting the parameter keep.relative.image.uris to 0 inside oXygen, which doesn't work either. I created my transformation by cloning the DocBook HTML one and editing it to point to my xsl layer along with outputting to ${cfn}.xhtml. I am going to go download the regular Eclipse distribution instead of the Eclipse + Web Platform Tools distribution. DocBook image scale issue

I have this bit of code: <mediaobject> <imageobject> <imagedata fileref="figures/figures.png" format="PNG" scale="50"/> </imageobject> </mediaobject> I believe this is correctly specified as per the specs. However, when I generated my PDF, the image was displayed as if I had not used scale at all (which is actually a little larger that 100%, which is why I want to use scale). When I turn of FOP output, I see this: [ERROR] Error in content-width property value '50%': org.apache.fop.fo.expr.PropertyException: No conversion defined [ERROR] Error in content-height property value '50%': org.apache.fop.fo.expr.PropertyException: No conversion defined Any ideas as to what I've done incorrectly?

I'd really like to see some menu consolidation on both oXygen and SVNClient. On the Mac especially, it's very apparent that there are just too many main menu categories. As I work on a laptop during the week, I'm always faced with other things I expect to be on the menu not being there (because the many items of oXygen force off other things, like battery meter). This may be partially exacerbated by the font choice. Is the menu font the standard OS choice? Thanks.

Where are these xml files supposed to go? If I put them in the directory specified in the PDF on the site, they are not found. If I hard code them in the fopConfiguration.xml, they are found. But I'd prefer not to hard code the location.

Hello, I think 20060628 means June 28, 2006 which is older, not newer than the date of the stable release, June 29, 2006. As we specify on the Download page of the oXygen website we support only stable official releases of Eclipse. This is why I recommend an official release of Eclipse. Anyway the Warnings view is a built-in view of Eclipse with no connection to the oXygen plugin. weird transformation error message

In transforming a document that came out fine and produced only the standard "stripping ns from DocBook 5/NG ...", "processing stripped ...", "id recommended on..." warnings, the oXygen Eclipse plugin (assumedly) poped up a window saying "an error occurred" and "see error log for details". The dialog had only an OK button. The error doesn't seem to appear on repeats of the same transformation, but I have seen it before when working with the oXygen plugin. I am not sure where to look for the aforementioned log. A search of the oXygen site does not reveal the message. So, to the point: Has anyone seen this error message? XInclude

Hi I am just starting to experiment with Oxygen's XInclude support. I now have a document that uses XInclude and Oxygen has XInclude switched on. Apart from checking well-formedness/validity across the XML instances what other functionality does Oxygen give me? For example can I view the document with the XInclude statements resolved, or can I choose to save the document either before or after XInclude processing? The help documentation is not very forthcoming on the subject (unless I am missing something obvious, which I don't rule out). All the best Mark

Is there a way to have oXygen select different RELAX NG schemas depending on the version attribute of an XML document's root element? Also, why, if I make a document like the following, do I receive the error, "element "equation" from namespace "http://docbook.org/ns/docbook" not allowed in this context. Hi, thanks for the clarification. I read your message as saying that oXygen complies with the specification. However, as I see it this leaves an important question open: in the absence of an explicitly defined base URL, what is taken to be the base? The location of the XML catalogue or the current working directory? oXygen seems to use the latter whereas other tools seem to use the former. (e.g., Ant, see http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTypes/xmlcatalog.html although this page does not say anything about the xml:base attribute???) If the specification does not define what base URI is used in the absence of an xml:base attribute then it is incomplete. I should either define a sensible default (such as the XML catalogue location) or declare this illegal (i.e. you must not have a relative URI if you don't specify a base URI). IMHO the former would be much more useful. I hope I haven't missed anything. If I am right about this is it not time to change the spec? xml catalog relative path resolution

Hi, can anybody say what the resolution algorithm is for resolving relative paths given in XML catalogues? Or point me to a place that explains this? All the examples I have found use absolute paths but I want to be able to check the XML catalogue into a repository which also contains the DTD files, so people can check out the whole thing and only need to register the XML catalogue in their local preferences. Transformation scenario error message?

I have a Transformation Scenario that fails. This scenario uses a customization layer, and a FOP configuration file for embedding fonts. I've checked and double checked all my paths, and they are accurate: the FOP configuration file (I used the browser to select the file), the font metrics and TTF locations, etc. The only error I get when it fails is below: Description: The process 'FOP' ended with code : 2 The error was : [ERROR] null Is there any way to get more output? Directory bookmarks.

Is it possble to bookmark a directory in oxygen. On linux directory navigation is painful (I assume this depends on java) so being able to book mark directories would be very helpful. Dave.

7.2 on MacBook Pro

I downloaded 7.2 onto my new intel-based MacBook Pro but when launching the application it quits before anything appears on the screen. The console says the following: [JavaAppLauncher] application launched with ppc-thin application stub. Using native application stub instead. [LaunchRunner Error] The main class "ro.sync.exml.Oxygen" could not be found. [JavaAppLauncher Error] CallStaticVoidMethod() threw an exception Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.run(LaunchRunner.java:85) at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.callMain(LaunchRunner.java:50) at apple.launcher.JavaApplicationLauncher.launch(JavaApplicationLauncher.java:52) Any ideas? - I rather like the idea of getting to grips with the new SVN functionality. Fortunately 7.1 still seems to work OK. Steve
