Why would you evaluate Oxygen with an old version released 9 months ago? A lot of fixes/improvements have been implemented since that version. Please download the latest build of Oxygen 11.2(2010061615) from our site: http://www.oxygenxml.com/download_oxygenxml_editor.html The same license can be used. Hey guys/gals, I am using oxygen 11 on ubuntu 9.4. I have a bunch of remote files that I "Imported" into my project. However oxygen is spawning a ton of ftp connections, like 3 for every file I open. I have tried to adjust my preferences to see if this changes anything and it has no effect. The outcome is that after opening over 5 files my computer slows down and the ftp server rejects any more connections I try and make. Anyone experienced something like this before? DITAVAL content is not being used appropriately in Oxygen 11.2 when transforming to PDF using DITA-OT

Summary: DITAVAL content is not being used appropriately in Oxygen 11.2 What I’m doing: 1. I have a set of DITA tasks and concepts that are included in a Map file that is included in a Bookmap file. 2. The tasks and concepts have tags that use the audience attribute with a value set to the locale I want to include or exclude, such as audience=”US” or audience=”UK” 3. Some of the tasks and concepts use conrefs to other content that also includes the audience attribute set to the value I want. 4. In most cases I specify a single value for the audience. 5. In some cases, I specify multiple audiences such as <p audience="XML US">text goes here</p> for content that is for XML users in the US only. 6. I have a set of DITAVAL files that contain the include and exclude statements, such as <prop action="include" att="audience" val="US" /> and <prop action="exclude" att="audience" val="UK" />. They also contain include/exclude statement for other values such as <prop action="exclude" att="audience" val="XML" />. 7. My Oxygen Transform refers to the DITAVAL file I want to use. I specified it by browsing to it in the dialog box so the path is correct. 8. At transform time, the DITA-OT transforms the content into a PDF. This all works fine in that the file builds. However, the audience attribute for “US” or “DE” or whatever is not being respected for the transform, while the audience attribute for the other values (such as audience=”XML” or audience=”HTML”) is working. A. I’m at a loss to figure out what is causing the problem. Is it specifying more than one value in the audience (line 5, above)? Is this not the right way to specify multiple audiences? B. Is the problem that I’m specifying a value to include (XML) and a value to exclude (US) in the same tag (see line 5, above)? If (B) is true, then how would I specify content that should be included for XML users, but only if they're in the US? I have multiple users (XML, HTML, PHP, and so on) and multiple locales (UK, US, DE, and so on). I'm probably missing some very obvious feature of DITA, but that goes without saying.

Hello, You can't customize the new XQuery document but you can create an XQuery template file(e.g. mytemplate.xquery) and copy it to [oxygen-installation-folder]/templates. Afterwards when you go to File -> New -> 'From templates' you will find your template in the list. Oxygen 11 installed, builds now failing

I just installed Oxygen 11 and now my builds are failing. They were working with Oxygen 10 on this PC. Docbook 5 Author mode: way to add indexterm elements?

I have been using Author XML for months now to make a docbook book. Really loving it. It's very powerful and makes me productive. However, I am surprised to find that there's not a Docbook toolbar button or context menu option to create an indexterm element. An indexterm is necessary to build a decent index for your book. http://www.docbook.org/tdg5/en/html/indexterm.singular.html usually it looks like this: <indexterm> <primary>Abraham Lincoln </primary> <secondary>Gettysburg Address </secondary> </indexterm> I am having to drop out of Author mode into XML mode to add <indexterm> every two paragraphs or so. Am I missing this feature or is it something which the developers just haven't gotten around to yet? Thanks. Robert Nagle

better validation of Schematron schema

Hi, My request here does not have to do with validating an XML document against a Schematron schema, but rather, finding out whether Schematron schema itself is valid. I'm pleased with Oxygen's support for Schematron, including ISO Schematron. Oxygen really has excellent coverage of XML-related tools. However I have the following enhancement request. When I'm editing a schema foo.sch in oXygen, I can press Ctrl+Shift+V and it does something, and says "Document is valid." I guess it's validating the schema against an RNG schema for Schematron? I don't know. What I do know is that its validation is not as complete as the validation for XSLT stylesheets. It helpfully validates the presence of elements and attributes that are dis/allowed in Schematron (old and ISO versions); but it does not validate the XPath in test expressions. Just now I had an assert whose test attribute's value was not well-formed XPath: <sch:assert test="../../row1/thing[@id = current()/transform[@type = 'From']/target/@id"> Note that I'm missing a final square-bracket in the test expression. Yet Oxygen tells me the Schematron schema is valid. It was only when I tried to *use* the Schematron schema that it told me about the missing ']'. And at this point it's quite a bit harder to debug, because often you're using a manually-constructed pipeline where you have an XSLT transforming your Schematron schema to another XSLT, and then the latter is used to validate your XML document. So you have to sort through several layers to figure out where the problem is. So my request is for stronger validation for Schematron schemas. I'm not sure of the best way to accomplish this... Maybe Oxygen could go ahead and transform the schema to an XSLT using e.g. iso_svrl.xsl and iso_schematron_skeleton.xsl (in the case of ISO Schematron); then validate the result as an XSLT stylesheet. This should take care of the above problem, malformed XPath expressions. It may not be straightforward to map any errors back to a particular point in the original schema, but at least we'd know whether the schema was valid or not, and we'd be better off than we are now, catching errors while editing the schema instead of when using the schema. code template for identity transform

Dear Oxygen folks, I often find the need to insert an identity transform template into an XSLT stylesheet I'm writing, but I don't always remember the correct XPath for the match pattern and the apply-templates/@select, and it's a nuisance to have to keep looking it up. A few times I've created a code template in Oxygen for it, but it keeps disappearing as I upgrade Oxygen. Would you consider adding this code template to the built-in list for the XSL editor? It seems like it would be useful to a lot of XSL developers. Name: id Description: Identity transform. Associate with: XSL Editor. Content:  <xsl:template match="@* | node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> No doubt you can tweak the content if there is a more approved variation on the above.
