how to call xsltproc from Mac OS X commandline?

I am writing a bash-script front-end to an XSL transformation (written in oXygen), because several other processes (including some desparate Perl hacks) need to take place around the transform. The target user of this transformation uses oXygen 7.0, but does not otherwise have xsltproc installed. Is it possible to call the copy of xsltproc that oXygen has from the commandline? I tried the obvious {path-to-oXygen-directory}/xsltproc.mac {stylesheet} {in} > {out} but that complained |dyld: Library not loaded: | @executable_path/../Frameworks/libxslt.framework/Versions/1.1.14/libxslt | Referenced from: /Users/Shared/applications/oxygen/xsltproc.mac | Reason: image not found Details for both my system and the target system: * Mac OS X 10.4.5 * oXygen 7.0 build 2006011910 * G4 processor @ >= 1GHz, with >= 1 GiB RAM Although obviously not essential (I have several other options, e.g. * insist target user installs xsltproc, e.g. using Fink * separate the pre- and post- processing steps out and transform from within oXygen * use some other XSLT engine, if it can be called from commandline) it would be nice to get this to work, so help is appreciated, but not worth an enormous amount of effort.

Still having problems with XSD catalogs

Hi All, I have been trying to use an XSD catalog file for months without any luck. As a matter of fact I have *never* been able to get XSD catalog files working on Oxygen. Currently I am using Oxygen 7.0 on a Windows 2000 platform. The best I can do is the following error: http://asdd.ga.gov.au/asdd/work/catalogerror.txt The catalog preferences look like this: http://asdd.ga.gov.au/asdd/work/catalogpreferences.gif The catalog file looks like this: http://asdd.ga.gov.au/asdd/work/catalog.xml I am using the following catalog.xsd: http://asdd.ga.gov.au/asdd/work/catalog.xsd I don't understand the error. The path to the catalog.xml file is correct and it is readable. Why is this error occurring? I can only find catalog files for DTDs not XSDs. Thanks. John

Namespace Declaration Hiding

Question: does oXygen XML currently provide any features for hiding of namespace declaration attributes (I haven't upgraded to V7 yet so I can't check there)? If it doesn't, is it on the feature request list? What I'm thinking of is an option that would hide or iconize in some way namespace declaration attributes on start tags within the text editor. There would have to be an easy way to examine a tag to see what namespaces either it declares or are mapped in its scope. This would make it much easier to author documents where you have a mix of elements from different namespaces and you want to declare these namespaces as defaults. This is especially problematic in, for example, technical documentation where you might have a number of different vocabularies used for inline markup within paragraphs, where having lots of namespace declaration attributes would definitely be disruptive and annoying. formatting of transformation result

Oxygen users, I wonder if anybody of you has come across this problem and found a solution for it. I have a transform I need to perform on thousands of files. When I develop and test it within oXygen, the result is indented nicely in the same way as the source. However, if I run the same transform on the commandline (with Saxon8b), some parts are not indented but instead all run in one line. Now I know that I just need to set @indent on xsl:output to 'yes' and everything is fine, but that would also destroy the other parts of the file that needs to stay as it is now so it is not an option. The keypoint now seems to be to find out why the transform looks different within oXygen and outside. BTW, I am using Oxygen 70 on a Mac OS X 10.4 machine. I assume it has to do with different kinds of line-ending in parts of the file and/or the stylesheet, but I have no idea how I can cure this. Any help welcome, Christian

Feature request: XPath notation for format and indent preserve- and strip-space

While certainly not a must-have feature, this might be useful. Currently, these appear to be limited to specific QNames. Would it be feasible to allow an XPath expression to designate a context in which space preservation or stripping is to occur? E.g., (a|b):*, xxx:(a|b|c), *[@attr='value']. As an aside, do you prefer that feature requests such as this be made in http://oxygenxml.com/forum/forum2.html rather than on this list? Regards, Gary

Beginner question: RE: oXygen and Java Input Methods for Unicode Goal: I want to type Unicode chars in oXygen buffers using standard Java Input Methods, installed in the Java Extension directory(ies) Experiments so far: 1. I downloaded a 30-day trial version of oXygen (for Linux) and it appears to be working. The executable is installed in ~/oxygen/oxygen7.0 wherein, if I understand things, the oXygen application is launched with this command: "$app_java_home/bin/java" -client -Dinstall4j.jvmDir="$app_java_home" -Dinstall4j.appDir="$app_home" -Dexe4j.moduleName="$prg_dir/$prg" "-Xmx180m" $INSTALL4J_ADD_VM_PARAMS -classpath "$local_classpath" com.install4j.runtime.Launcher launch ro.sync.exml.Oxygen true false "$prg_dir/error.log" "" true true false "SplashScreen.gif" false true 418 281 "" 20 20 "Arial" "0,0,0" 8 500 "" 20 40 "Arial" "0,0,0" 8 500 -1 "$@" oXygen is a Java application, and (from the documentation) it claims to be Unicode-savvy. However, I haven't yet been able to get oXygen to respond to my Linux Java Input Method "hotkey" and allow me to select an active input from from the installed Java Input Methods. 2. My Java Input Method "hotkey" on Linux is defined as F12, and it works with other Java applications (like jEdit). import old Notebook database to XML?

Beginner Question I have a large database in an old DOS text-database management format called Notebook (from Pro/Tem Software). I'd like to convert that old database into XML. Has anyone already done this with oXygen? Thanks, Ken
