feature request: copy file path

Hello, I have a feature request: When I'm editing a file in Oxygen, often I need to go find that file in another application (such as Windows Explorer, or WinMerge, etc.). If the file has a long path, it takes a while to re-find it. Right now, the file's full path shows up in the Oxygen title bar, and in the tooltip for the editor buffer tab, but there is no apparent way to copy it to the clipboard. It would be very convenient to have a "Copy Path" or "Copy File Path" command on the right-click menu of the editor buffer tab, the red-circled area in the screenshot below. That way, the user does not have to re-navigate to a deeply-buried file. editor buffer tab Thanks, Lars

Intelligent editor support for DITA specialisations

One of the advantages of DITA that was loudly proclaimed is that specialised topic files from one creator can be sent to another user and inserted into a document /without the specialised DTD being made available to that user/. The DITA OT will then produce some sort of readable (if badly formatted) output based on the parent element identified in the @class attribute. But it appears that none of the DITA-out-of-the-box editors which I have support specialisation in the absence of the specialisation DTD but barf in various interesting ways. Serna alone appears to make some attempt to support specialised elements. I have made a tiny tweak to <fig> to specialise it with a <credit> element based on , and an <anchor> element based on . This are subclassed in the approved manner, e.g. class=" topic/p topic/credit". It seems to me that a DITA editor on opening an unknown specialisation should be able to look at the inheritance tree in @class and temporarily rename the element to the nearest known ancestor. And, on save, it should write out the XML with the original element name restored from the leaf value in @class. As DITA is not a true object model and subclasses are merely renaming of ancestor elements for better semantic cueing, this does not appear to be a very difficult problem to solve. Anything would be better than the endless bleatings of Xalan error messages! I am basing my remarks on experience with Syntext Serna, <oXygen/>, XMLmind XML Editor (XXE), and FrameMaker v 8 with DITA-FMx 1.0. Perhaps XMetaL, Arbortext Author, and other editors already support this kind of compatibility. Hi, thanks for your answer, Sorin. I understand Oxygen Author-Mode is not able to do what i want, but i think it should be! There should be an option telling the renderer to just ignore line-breaks. I fail to see any reason why the transformation into whitespaces is necessary. Can this be added to the feature request list? Whitespace Problem

Hello! i am having a problem with white-spaces in Author mode. Here is what my XML document looks like at the problematic passage: Der <choice> <orig>E</orig> <reg>e</reg> </choice> rwirdigen in <choice> <orig>G</orig> <reg>g</reg> </choice> Now in Author mode, the linebreaks are transformed into whitespace, so that the first part looks like "Der E e rwirdigen in" etc. But i would like to have it look like "Der Eerwirdigen" etc. has the display property: block, <choice>, <orig> and <reg> have display property inline, and i think that exactly is the problem, because the manual says that if the display-property is inline, non-whitespace (which my linebreak is, i suppose) are transformed into normal white space. Is there any way to have oxygen ignore the linebreak? I also copied our schema files into this folder: \eXist\webapp\WEB-INF\entities Then I add the name and uri in the catalog.xml: ( I just added the three lines of our own schemas in the <uri name= > in the default catalog.xml.) In your case if there is a works.xsd file on the hard disk and the root element of the works.xsd file is xsd:schema the location is not specified correctly in the XML document. Hi, I'm trying to set up eXist to validate records with schema. But I keep getting error message when I tried to save a record in eXist. Cannot save the file. org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: schema_reference.4: Failed to read schema document 'file:/export/home/library/eXist/webapp//WEB-INF/entities/works.xsd', because 1) could not find the document; 2) the document could not be read; 3) the root element of the document is not <xsd:schema>. OS X: Can not paste text as filename into save dialog.

Hello! We just noticed that in both oxygen 9.2 and 9.3 it's not possible to paste text as the filename into a save dialog. Pasted text will instead appear in the document where you had the cursor placed before opening the save dialog. This may appear in other versions as well, we only tested what we had available. request: code templates for XSLT 2.0

Hello, I use the code templates feature a lot when creating XSLT stylesheets. But now as I move more into XSLT 2.0, I notice the absence of code templates for the new elements. E.g. fegs: <xsl:for-each-group select="${caret}"> </xsl:for-each-group> rdh: <xsl:result-document href="${caret}"> </xsl:result-document> cg: current-group() and others. Any plans to add these? I will add some of my own for now, but I would welcome a full set that came with Oxygen. (I'm running Oxygen 9.3 standalone on Windows.) Regards, Lars

Problem validating XQuery documents

Hello, I'm modifying an XQuery document under 9.3 and am not getting validation as I type. I tried manually running validation and got an error that says "The transformer Saxon9B XQuery is not available anymore. Please reconfigure the transformation scenario." I created a custom validation scenario with the "<default engine>" and go the same error. When I changed that validation scenario to specifically use "Saxon-B XQuery 9.0.0.6", it worked. Seems like there may be a bug in the default setup. . John

collation failure

I have read in the archive that to add my own collator to Oxygen, I must drop the jar file in the oxygen lib folder. I have done this, and still get the same error message: F [Saxon-B 9.0.0.6] Collation http://saxon.sf.net/collation?class=CzechCollation has not been defined. The line from my XSLT file is: <xsl:sort select="Author" collation="http://saxon.sf.net/collation?class=CzechCollation"/> The jar tf command tell me the jar file contains the following manifest (I know very little about java): META-INF META-INF/MANIFEST.MF CzechCollation.class However, when I click on the jar , I get the error message: "failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from ..." I assume this happens because the jar does not contain an application. Anyway, The CzechCollation.java file follows (Substantially shortened). Feature request: MathML support for equations

Does oXygen have plans to incorporate support for MathML in the near future? We are currently using Oxygen 9.2 to create CHM (HTML Help) and PDF output from the same files, based on DITA. Our source files (XML) currently include over 200 equations. We create the equation files in MathType using its MathML 2.0 translator setting, and save the equation files to GIF. This approach renders a less than aesthetic equation output, either in the CHM or PDF output. We have to apply a scaling attribute to the equation image in the XML file to reduce the large equation sizes in PDF. If oXygen users have suggestions for rendering equations in CHM and PDF using DITA, these would be welcome. Thank you. xQueries in eXist

Hi, I tried to run xQueries in Oxygen, but in the Configure Transformation Scenario- Edit Scenario, I can't find the exist connection in the Transformer selection box. Does anyone know how to set it up? Or this is not available for The current Oxygen and eXist releases? Our catalogers create XML records, and need to search the Records by keyword or ID in exist. I created several Canned xQueries for them to run. My second question is, is it possible to create a Search button in Oxygen, which could embed our canned xQueries in it, so that Our catalogers can use it to search records in eXist? Thanks. Jenny

WSDL documentation missing imported files

Afternoon all, I've just started using Oxygen to help with top-down document/literal web service development. I'm particularly interested in automatic generation of docs from WSDLs and XSDs. The WSDL I'm working on lives in a file called Services.wsdl, which contains no schema definitions itself. It imports a file called MessageTypes.xsd which defines the high-level types corresponding to the elements which are immediate children of the wsdl:message elements. MessageTypes.xsd in turn imports another file, GridTypes.xsd, which includes definitions for the fine-grained data types corresponding to the actual fields in the input and output messages. Now when I use Tools -> Generate Documentation -> WSDL Documentation from Services.WSDL to produce HTML documentation, it doesn't seem to be aware of the definitions in MessageTypes.xsd (let alone GridTypes.xsd). The Type column for each message just says "N/A". Ideally I'd like to see the correct type from MessageTypes.xsd in here, and have the ability to click through to that type's actual definition. Am I missing something here? Or does the whole schema really have to be stored in the WSDL in order for the doc generator to pick up the types correctly? This seems like a pretty serious limitation since storing everything in the WSDL is pretty bad practice for non-trivial services. Anyone know a workaround, or an alternative way to achieve this? Way to Open Files that Start with "." on OS X/Linux?

I'm working with DOCX files and the key file in a DOCX package is the .rels file in the _rels directory. If I unpackage the archive (for convenience of processing with XSLT), under OS X the normal Oxygen file chooser won't show files that start with "." (per normal unix/linux rules). I can open the file from the command line of course, but is there a way to access such files via the normal file chooser? trouble with oxygen svn client

Hi there, Recently, I ran into some issues with the SVN client, so I thought I talk about them here to see if there is a way to resolve the problem. I am using the svn+ssh protocol to tunnel the svn connection through ssh For security reasons, my ssh server has an unusual port. Now oxygen seems not to look at the configuration for SSH in ~/.ssh/config which means I have to specify the port on the URL like: svn+ssh:/<server>:<port>/path/to/rep This allows me to access the repository from within Oxygen. The problem with this is, however, that it makes other SVN tools fail. So if I want to use SCPlugin (this is the Mac equivalent to TortoiseSVN), it fails with a 'Connection error'. While I do not know which of the two behaviors is correct, I think it could be solved if Oxygen would allows to specify the port separately from the repository URL. But there might be other solutions as well? Setting up catalogs

I'm evaluating Oxygen for our DITA installation and have hit on a bit of a problem: everything works very well for the DITA files, including XML catalog resolution for specializations, etc., but links and the ditamap editor aren't getting resolved. I use URNs in links between source files, to allow authors to have local copies of resources which live in our source control system, such as <topicref href="urn:quative.tv:docs:quative/company/en_GB/concept/AboutQuative.dita" />. The documentation[1] says that "the OASIS XML catalogs present in the list maintained in the XML Catalog Preferences panel will be scanned trying to map a remote system ID (at document validation) or a URI reference (at document transformation)" If I read this correctly, this means you ignore catalog entries for URIs at validation time, which would explain why nothing is working. Is this the case, and if so, do you have any plans to support URI links in upcoming versions of Oxygen ? rgds David Linton Quative Limited . Feature request - Copy-and-paste from Word/Excel/HTML to DITA

Some XML authoring tools can copy-and-paste from Word / Excel / HTML and intelligently re-tag into DITA. Oxygen doesn't seem to be able to do that yet. Can you add it to your list of feature requests? Thanks very much! Seraphim

Handling Asian Characters in UI and Editor

In the process of testing our RSuite produce I've created some test documents that include a mix of Asian and latin characters, both in file names and in content. In both cases, Oxygen by default uses a font that does not have glyphs for the Asian characters. It would be nice if Oxygen could automatically apply appropriate fonts for characters in well-known character ranges (e.g., applying Arial Unicode MS or Sim Hei to characters in the unified ideograph range under Windows, for example). Not sure how practical this is but it would be nice.
